CUSTOM PROJECT EXISTING BUNDLE

This is an important question every PHP developer should ask before selecting a CMS.

Symfony-based applications either integrate Symfony components or Symfony integrates the application. More than three years ago, eZ chose the second solution, Symfony full stack.

By using Symfony2 in its complete form, eZ is fully compatible with any projects or plugins developed using the Symfony framework. An example of this comes from one of our part-ners Netgen, who integrated the Symfony-based e-commerce solution Sylius into eZ.

Other CMSs have adopted the Symfony framework, but many of them have taken a different approach. Drupal 8, for example, incorporates Symfony2 components, such as HttpFoundation and Routing, but not the complete stack.

When Symfony isn’t used in its entirety, some components of an existing bundle may be missing or not completely compatible with the CMS. This limits the potential of combining certain CMSs with custom Symfony development.
