    WHY

    EYEmanager championship?

    The education of the young generation in climate change, energy saving, rational use ofenergy and renewable energy sources is a key factor for creating responsible futureenergy consumers.

    EYEManager Championship wants to experiment, assess and transfer an innovativeapproach to the energy in secondary schools aimed to enhance the quality of learningin terms of didactic curricula and pedagogic methods. The competition and the gamedimension in an international background is the key element to facilitate the transfer ofenergy skills and energy consciousness to the secondary school students. Thanks tothe competition they will have the full consciousness of what they learnt about energysaving and they will transfer it to their peers, families and neighbours.

    Basic project idea : an international competition EYEManager Championshipfor the awarding of the best EYE Manager Team.

    The 6 teams composed by students of 9 European countries must face the problemof energy management of schools and homes

    MAIN STEPS1st project phase designing and transfer to the involved actors a common set of teaching tools and

    methods:

    - EYEManager Guide

    - EYEManager Championship Software and user manual

    - EYEManager Championship rules

    - Energy audit

    - Communication tools- Didactic approach

    2nd project phase : organisation of the European Championship

    - The official beginning of European Championship was in November 2009 with EYEManagerChampionship kick off meeting (KoM) that was organised on 25th November 2009 in Slovenia(Velenje).

    - At the end there will be the EYE Manager Award, during the international conference in Italy in

    February 2011.3rd Project phase the model will be assessed and A New Approach for Energy Education in

    Secondary Schools will be spread .

    STUDENTS will be in charge of training other students concerning energy using products,energy saving behaviours and energy managerial criteria.

    TEACHERS will be transfer the developed curricula , education tools and methods to their colleagues.

    THE ENERGY AUDIT

    The energy audit was used as a preliminary procedure of the EYE MANAGER

    CHAMPIONSHIP in order to obtain adequate information about the energyconsumption profile of the 4 case studies ( 2 houses and 2 schools).

    The audit played a crucial role in the implementation of energy saving measures by theinternational teams involved in the project and in the fulfilling of the aims connectedto Energy Education in secondary schools .

    Students, teachers and agency experts followed standard procedures and steps:

    The project meetings were interesting, wefound new things about energy, I veknown my colleagues better as we decidedfrom the beginning to be a real TEAM.

    The AUDIT seemed easy to me due to theteamwork.. I knew my team mates very well,so the atmosphere was relaxing and differentform daily routine! The meetings wereenjoyable.Slovenia? Its an opportunity to get new

    friends, to find peoples customs, toacknowledge Slovenian level of living andtheir economy level.
