What is GESA? Ban n in g H igh Sch oo l ’ s G lob a l Environmental Science Academy (GESA) started in 2004 as a specialized Small Learning Community (SLC) academy under Banning’s “PORT” school. It is an academy of approximately 200 students focused on environmental studies and its applications in careers, and academic pathways. GESA students build strong relationships with each other, the GESA teachers and staff throughout their 10 –12th grade years.
Pilots do you want to have a bright future in the environmental sciences and its application in careers and academics? GESA will inspire you to care more about our planet and learn ways to keep her clean, green, and sustainable. You will over come obstacles that will prepare you for life after high school and prepare you for the real world of solutions for the environmental challenges of the future.
Give It Some Thought!
With GESA, students help clean-up our coasts, channels, and waterways
• Our students STUDY THE SCIENCES: Biology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, and Science Technology Research, Chemistry, and Physics, along with the A-G requirements for college.
• We have SUMMER INTERNSHIPS with the Port of Los Angeles industries and GESA business partners.
• State of California “FIRST RESPONDER” CERTIFICATION (emergency response) for our students.
• A series of guest speaker presentations on ENVIRONMENTAL CAREERS.
• Our students are provided INDUSTRY COACHING from the environmental sci-ence industry to help support and motivate them throughout their studies.
How will students benefit?
