Join us for a fun & creative summer at Textile Center!Eversince I started work at Textile Center in 2008, summertime has become my fa-vorite time of year. With 34 summer camps to choose from, we offer a wide range of opportunities to help young fiber artists from ages 6 to 16 build their skills and their creative potential. From beginners to those with more experience, our fun camps provide great opportunities for young people to explore their artistry in smaller class settings where they get to know their instructors well and receive personal attention as they explore their craft.

What I enjoy most about summer is watching our students’ confidence grow over the course of the week and seeing their excitement when they reveal their creations to their friends and family. This year we are bringing back our favorite instructors, and we’re pleased to welcome new teaching artists to our summer team. We have a great selection of camps, tailored for a wide age range of students of varying interests and skills ... all provided in a fun and safe environment. We invite you to join us this summer at Textile Center!

- Melisa Wahlstrom, Education Coordinator

Meet Scarlett Larson, our summer camp coordinatorI can’t wait for our Summer Camps! We’ve designed 34 camp experiences that teach children unique and practical hand-crafting skills they can use for a lifetime. Young people will make friends in a safe, exciting, fun-filled environment that’s packed with wonderful textile projects. With a fine art edu-cation, a love for textiles and a history in youth education, I have found how fundamental it is that young generations learn the value of handmade things.

However, I have also learned that textile techniques don’t need to be the average mundane craft. With exploration, exciting materials and the right scope – children come alive in awe of what they can create.

Whether your child is an aspiring fashion designer or simply likes to play with art materials, Textile Center offers eight weeks of diverse camps for students of any gen-der and skill level. Don’t let your child miss out on this great opportunity to make a summer full of memories!

- Scarlett Larson, 2015 Summer Camp Coordinator

Scarlett Larson is a practicing textile artist, teacher and advocate for the arts. Scar-lett served as the Youth Education Manager and Camp Director at the Textile Arts Center in New York City. Since moving back to her home state of Minnesota, she has been working in coordination with the City of the Lakes Waldorf School, Minnetonka Center for the Arts and the Walker Art Center, implementing a variety of creativity classes. Scarlett holds a BFA in Sculpture from Minneapolis College of Art and Design and is inspired by children and their uninhibited way of creating art.
