Day 1 Glacier Express Train to ZermattDepart Basel for a scenic drive through Switzerland. In Chur, board the famed Glacier Express for a six-

hour journey, one of the most beautiful train rides in the world. You will pass over countless trestles,

through dramatic tunnels cut into mountainsides, and up and down alpine slopes. It’s one of Europe’s

great experiences: a spectacular ride through breathtaking vistas of soaring peaks, plunging gorges

and wide, green valleys dotted with alpine villages. Arrive late this afternoon in Zermatt, nestled high

in the Alps at the foot of the renowned Matterhorn, and check in to the First-Class Resort Hotel Alex

(or similar) for a two-night stay. Your Viking Tour Director is available to help you plan your time in

Zermatt so you can make the most of your visit.



Day 2 ZermattAfter breakfast, board a cogwheel train to the summit of Gornergrat, with sweeping views of soaring

peaks and wide valleys. Following lunch on your own, explore the alpine charms of Zermatt, where

cars are not permitted and the mountain air is clear and clean. Stroll its narrow lanes lined with chalet-

style buildings and perhaps venture into the surrounding countryside of high meadows with

breathtaking views. (B)

Day 3 Zermatt & Geneva



After breakfast, depart for Geneva, stopping en route at the impressive Lavaux Vineyard Terraces, a

UNESCO World Heritage Site. These daringly planted vines comprise the largest continuous vineyard in

Switzerland. After tasting some Chasselas wine here and stopping for lunch, arrive in Geneva, one of

Europe’s most beautiful cities hugging the shores of Lake Geneva. This afternoon, enjoy a guided visit

of the United Nations. (Please note the United Nations is closed occasionally for public tours.) Then,

return to the First-Class InterContinental Geneva (or similar) for your two-night stay. Your Viking Tour

Day 4 GenevaThis morning, enjoy a fascinating tour of Geneva, stopping to view the city’s picturesque parks, the

famous Jet d’Eau fountain in the lake, the Flower Clock, St. Pierre Cathedral and the Reformation

Monument. Later, embark on a boat cruise on the city’s eponymous lake, enjoying views of the United

Nations, the Castle of Bellerive and the Jet d’Eau, all while surrounded by stunning, snowcapped

peaks. The afternoon is free for you to follow your whims during your final day in Switzerland. (B)



Day 5 GenevaAfter breakfast, check out of your hotel and proceed to the airport for your return flight. (B)
