• to extend international reach, with the guest presence of a leading nation in logistics;

• specific focuses and special events on the food chain, the centrality of the Mediterranean and market integration, smart warehouses and the industrial real estate market, e-commerce, energy and innovation, the emerging themes of production, AI - Artificial Intelligence and new green “urban designs”.

As Europe’s second most important manufacturing nation, Italy needs a new approach for efficient and sustainable logistics. In support of its growth, it now has a trade show that puts all the components of logistics in contact with the world of manufacturing and distri-bution.This is confirmed by the operators and businesses that have recognised Green Logistics Expo as the new benchmark event, placing Italy on a par with leading European countries. A B2B event to meet customers and colleagues for an exchange of views on the markets in Europe and around the world.

At the heart of the show, the relationship between logistics and the world of business, already protagonist in 2018 with a national conference in collaboration with business associations.

During 2019, a calendar of initiatives leading up to the show has already been programmed, with dedicated events and participation at the most important national and international logistics appointments.

The extensive and varied conference programme accompanying the first edition of Green Logistics Expo was greatly appreciated, with more than 250 speakers taking part in more than 50 themed events. The space dedicated to an exchange of views and in-depth analysis will be equally rich in the 2020 edition.

Scenarios, technical solutions and innovative products and organisational and business models

Scenarios, technical solutions and innovative products and organisational and business models are just some of the themes to be found in the packed calendar of conferences, seminars, studies, technical and strategic analyses and workshops accompanying the second edition of Green Logistics Expo. It will include in-depth analyses of themes such as the development of intermodal transport and infrastructure, real estate management and warehouse automation using AI (Artificial Intelligence), logistics and commerce in the e-commerce upheaval and new “green” urban designs.

A far-reaching and in-depth programme conceived as a work-in-progress, in strict contact with those taking part in the event - the exhibitors and the world of production, research, associations and governance - to reflect market sensitivities and innovations, the sustainability debate and the macro areas of the show.

In Italy, the home of good food, special attention must be paid to the delicate and complex theme of integrated logistics for the food sector, subject to scrupulous certifications and monitoring and with a growing, diversified and exacting demand.

At a time of “accelerated geopolitical disorder” and amidst a “logistics revolution”, Green Logistics Expo, the sector’s benchmark trade exhibition in Italy, is turning on the spotlights for a strategic, global reflection on the Mediterranean. This represents just 1% of the planet’s seas, but is crossed by an exponentially increasing 19% of world traffic and has the task of “connecting the oceans”. For Italy, however, the ability to intercept goods transiting across “mare nostrum” is diminishing, while a new scenario is being written with investments in the Belt and Road, focus of a specific China Panel.

A third theme concerns the ever closer relationship between logistics and the world of business. Together with business associations, an international conference on the role of logistics and corporate logistics operators is being organised, with the aim of deciding whether the former represents the “heart or arm” of the latter.

There will also be a day dedicated to the scenarios of commerce, from e-commerce to the “onlife” proactive consumer, digitalisation of businesses, the Internet of Things (IOT) and new sustainable designs for our cities. Finally, there will be numerous technical meetings, updates on standards and regulations, financial opportunities and training proposals.

Hubs, nodes, networks, infrastructures, means and services for modal, intermodal and logistics integration; a logistics system in support of manufacturing, industrial policy and environmentalsustainability.

As well as being the most complex transport system, intermodality is also the greenest. An efficient and highly developed intermodal system means greater environmental and economic sustainability. But there is still a long way to go. Intermodality is growing throughout Europe and Italy is no exception. However, in Italy “all road” transportation is still 10 points above the European average (85% as against 75%), partly due to the characteristics of Italy’s fragmented production system.

The warehouse is a strategic node in the logistics system. This is true for companies, logistics operators and income investors. The warehouse is changing and intralogistics are evolving in the wake of the digital revolution, industry 4.0 and green objectives.

Green Logistics Expo is an international event for business, marketing, culture, study, exhibition and an exchange of views on the most advanced themes involving the logistics chain and its interactions with environmental, economic and social sustainability. A B2B exhibition with the leaders in intermodal rail and freight transport, logistics for industry and ports, e-commerce and services for the city of tomorrow. The supply chain of the future, with the world of institutions and business; a show with a mission to support the economy, development and the quality of life.

B2B and B2C warehouses for multi-channel customers; Architectural quality and environmental and economic sustainability; Automation, AI (Artificial Intelligence) and industrial domotics; Packaging.

Ports, logistics hubs, ships, railways, vehicles, infrastructure, governance systems and ICT will come together at Green Logistics Expo in support of the growth of a segment of strategic importance for environmental and economic sustainability. An efficient and highly developed intermodal transport system is vital for Italy to compete in European and global markets and intercept new flows of goods.

The transformation concerns all operations taking place inside warehouses and their very structure, which incorporates solutions dictated by green building, energy saving and the need to rationalise space with vertical and carousel warehouses. Handling, storing, cataloguing, weighing, packaging and picking operations are ever more automated. “Smart” systems and remote controls modify performance and the work itself and the traditional warehouse management system is at a crossroads between obsolescence or evolution.

There are over 36 million cars in the country and it is estimated that in 5 years there will be only 1.5 million electric cars.Shopping centers, small businesses, on-demand deliveries put the supply and delivery system under stress. Urbanization, sustainability and the digital revolution have change demand and the way goods and services are consumed by onlife users.Living, producing, working, buying, moving, transporting and consuming acquire new modalities and we are all called to be “builders, not victims of the future”. What type of logistics for sustainable city design? Will new governance models take shape to coordinate modalities with user involvement?

In the digital era, everything is changing. The places and ways people shop are being transformed. The places where you see, try, pay for, collect or receive, decide and buy are now “disconnected” from one another.E-commerce has affected the old forms of commerce, modifying them and creating a different and more far-reaching model. Logistics is playing a decisive role in the new scenario for commerce. In the context of the new “shopping experience”, logistics must face the new and ever more exacting challenges of the last mile, green demand, the Internet of Things (IOT), the criticalities of the blockchain and the demand from ever more exacting proactive consumers.

Sustainable development is “... development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs”Brundtland report - Our Common Future (World Commission on Environment and Development WCED, 1987)

City & LogisticsThe city, driver of competitiveness

Retailing for the onlife consumer; Orders, deliveries, returns, transport, mobility and services in urban and metropolitan areas; Governance models for complex organisations; Supply and demand sustainability.

All over our planet, cities are experiencing epoch-making changes. In 30 years time, 80% of the Italian population will live in a city and according to the World Bank, 75% of the infrastructure that will exist at that time has yet to be built. Currently 75% of traffic occurs near and within urban areas, for the most part lacking an efficient mobility system. This is one of the most important factors for causing pollution.

E-commerceMulti-channel retailing – onlife retailing

E-commerce is growing, evolving and interacting with traditional retailing; Logistics in the era of e-commerce and onlife commerce and new services; Click&Connect, in-store pick-up or locker models; Digital commerce opportunities.
