EXT. HADDONFIELD TOWN SQUARE – EARLY EVENING

The square is lined with streets, including “Nichol’s Hardware”, “The

Quickie Food Mart”, “Vincent Drugs”, and a new business called “Zhen’s

Bushido Karate”.

INT. ZHEN’S WADO RYU KARATE

Chinese instructor ZHEN LI is walking the room, which is full of karate

students in rows of 10 all the way back. Among those in class are SEAN

BERETTI and BRANDON McKNIGHT, although at opposite ends of the room.

As ZHEN yells out instructions, the students throw reverse punches.

ZHEN

Gyaku-tsuki! (punch) Gyaku-tsuki!

MYLES BARTON, dressed in a priest’s outfit (black clothing, white

collar), sits on the bench nearby as an observer. He smirks as he

watches SEAN.

ZHEN

Mae-geri! (front kicks) Mae-geri!

MYLES has a seat as ZHEN walks with his arms behind his back. TELSA,

dressed in a flight attendant uniform, and VICKY CARVER, dressed in a

Roaring 20’s style black double-breasted suit jacket, a skirt, high

heels, and a black beret hat, enter the karate studio. VICKY also

carries a hanger with a suit and hat on it. BRANDON notices them and

looks angry.

TELSA

What’s going on, Myles? Class almost

over.

MYLES

Hell if I know. Zhen Li hasn’t said a

word of English the entire time I’ve been

sitting here.

ZHEN

Mate!

Everyone stops kicking.

ZHEN

Musubi dache!

Everyone stands at attention, their arms out in front of them.

VICKY

Who are you supposed to be, Myles?

MYLES

Father Damon Karras from The Exorcist. I

would have went for Father Merrin, but

didn’t feel like dying my hair gray.

ZHEN

Rei.

Everyone bows to each other.

MYLES

Who are you ladies supposed to be?

VICKY

Miss Bonnie Parker, Bonnie and Clyde. We

rob banks.

TELSA

Jackie Brown, sucka.

MYLES

Right. Tarantino rules. You both look

great. If I wasn’t a priest…

TELSA

Priests are human, too, baby.

TELSA winks at MYLES, who blushes.

ZHEN

Dismissed! See you tomorrow, everyone!

ZHEN walks away as SEAN comes running over to them, his black belt

wrapped around his waist as he runs over and kisses VICKY.

SEAN

Is that my costume?

VICKY

Clyde Barrow, coming right up.

VICKY hands over the suit to SEAN and he smirks.

SEAN

You look amazing, Miss Bonnie.

MYLES

Bonnie and Clyde? Probably not the best

choice when you’re trying to win over

Sheriff Carver, but still cool.

ARIEL HATCHER walks through the door, dressed in a white tank top that

shows off her rippling abs, as well as a blue tie-dye skirt and long,

black shiny boots that zip up just above her knees.

TELSA

Ariel, I didn’t know you were working

tonight.

ARIEL

Yes, your mother took the night off.

MYLES

No, it’s Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman.

Great choice, Ariel.

ARIEL

See, Telsa? Someone has movie sense.

Hi, Vicky.

VICKY

Ariel. You look magnificent.

ARIEL

Thank you. So do you. Too bad Brandon

and I won’t catch you at the party.

Heard you got stuck babysitting the

little brother. I guess hanging out on

the wrong sides of the tracks does get

you into trouble.

SEAN frowns, offended. MYLES steps forward, grabbing ARIEL’S hand

gently.

MYLES

Ariel, I can see through this little

display. You’re insecure and you feel

you have to lash out at others to make

yourself look better. Trust me. You

don’t need to do that. You’re beautiful

on the outside and are just hiding that

inner beauty.

MYLES kisses the back of her hand. TELSA frowns questioningly as ARIEL

suppresses a smile. BRANDON comes walking over, grabbing MYLES by his

priest’s collar and slamming him back against the wall.

BRANDON

You have bothered my girlfriend for the

last time, you little pissant!

MYLES

Brandon, I don’t want any trouble.

BRANDON

You’ve been asking for trouble every time

you’ve approached her!

ARIEL

Brandon, leave him alone. He’s harmless.

BRANDON

You gonna stop asking my girl out or I’m

gonna rearrange your face, you little

fucktard!

MYLES

Come on now, Brandon. I’m a lover, not a

fighter.

BRANDON

You’d better learn to be a fighter real

quick!

BRANDON pulls back to strike MYLES, but SEAN catches BRANDON’S arm as

it goes forward. SEAN looks directly into BRANDON’S eyes with all

seriousness.

SEAN

You’d better step off.

SEAN shoves BRANDON up against the wall with a thud as MYLES moves out

of the way.

TELSA

Oh, hell yeah! Kick his ass, Sean!

BRANDON bounces back, swinging forward at SEAN, who deflects the punch

and kicks at BRANDON with a front kick. BRANDON catches the kick and

shoves SEAN back into the dojo. SEAN back rolls to his feet as BRANDON

charges with a punch. SEAN deflects it past him before swinging with a

right of his own. BRANDON blocks SEAN’S punch with his forearm,

swinging with a left of his own. SEAN blocks that punch with his

forearm before pushing BRANDON backwards. They both kick forward at

the same time, both connecting in the other’s chest. Both of them fall

to the ground and spring right back up with a kip up. They both fall

into the tiger stance, preparing to fight.

BRANDON

Come on, mother fucker!

ZHEN LI yells as he enters and digs his fingers into both SEAN’S and

BRANDON’S shoulder. Both SEAN and BRANDON yell in pain and fall to

their knees.

ZHEN

This is not what I teach in my classroom!

SEAN

Sorry, Mr. Li.

BRANDON

Understood, Mr. Li!

ZHEN yanks them both up, making them stand straight as they both sigh

in relief.

ZHEN

This is not why I teach karate. For

trivial arguments. Have you not learned

anything I’ve taught you?!

SEAN

I’m sorry, Mr. Li. It won’t happen

again.

BRANDON

Yeah, we were caught up in the moment, ya

know?

ZHEN

Bow to each other. Rei!

SEAN and BRANDON glare at each other as they each bow to the other.

ZHEN

Now go enjoy Halloween and I don’t want

to hear of you two fighting again.

SEAN

Yes, sir.

ZHEN bows to them and exits as BRANDON smirks at SEAN.

BRANDON

We aren’t finished yet, bro. Watch your

back. I don’t care who your fucking

father is.

SEAN doesn’t respond, but just stares BRANDOND in the eyes before ARIEL

and VICKY walk over, both pulling their boyfriends away by the arm.

ARIEL

You’re such an asshole sometimes,

Brandon!

BRANDON exits with ARIEL out the door as VICKY shakes her head, looking

at SEAN and trying to suppress laughter as she puts her hands on his

shoulder. MYLES and TELSA stand with them.

MYLES

I feel awkwardly guilty.

TELSA

Don’t. The boy is just asking to have

his ass handed to him. I’m just sad that

Sean didn’t get to do it properly.

MYLES

Completely changing the subject, what

horror series of movies are we planning

on viewing tonight? Freddy? Jason?

Chucky? Pinhead?

VICKY

Actually, there’s been a change of plans.

We’re not going to my house anymore.

Something’s up with Steven.

Everyone gives her a confused stare as we hold on a concerned VICKY.

INT. SMITH’S GROVE LOBBY – NIGHT

TOMMY and CLARICE enter the building, seeing an orderly moving a bed

with a sheeted body down the hall. The long red-headed orderly, RED

PARRISH, turns as they enter.

RED looks to be blocking their exit as he takes a step in their paths,

his blue eyes not leaving theirs.

RED

What’s up, guys? Can I help you?

CLARICE

Can you direct us to Dr. Wynn’s office?

RED

What’s this about?

CLARICE

Are you Dr. Wynn?

RED

No. I’m Red. I’m an orderly here.

CLARICE

If it concerned you, Red, we’d be asking

for you, wouldn’t we?

RED glares at CLARICE, who looks dead into his eyes in a matter-of-fact

glare.

RED

Do you have an appointment?

CLARICE holds up her FBI badge.

CLARICE

That’s all the appointment I need, sir.

Now, if you’ll direct me to Dr. Wynn’s

office, I would gladly appreciate it.

RED

Feds? What do you want with Dr. Wynn?

TOMMY

Are you gonna show us to his office or

not? Because we don’t have time to

waste.

RED

You listen to me, you fu—

WYNN

(o/s)

Red, please. There’s no need for

squabbling. Just finish your job.

RED and TOMMY stare at each other before RED turns and pushes his

gurney away. CLARICE watches the gurney.

TOMMY and CLARICE turn to see DR. TERENCE WYNN, who has entered from

the hallway. TOMMY and WYNN lock eyes as CLARICE steps forward,

extending her hand.

CLARICE

Hello, sir. I’m Special Agent Clarice

Starling with the FBI.

WYNN looks away from TOMMY to CLARICE.

WYNN

Starling? (sighs) Starling. You’ve got

a West Virginian accent. Is that where

your family is from?

WYNN gets a frown on his face as CLARICE is confused.

CLARICE

Yes, sir. A little town there. I’m here

to see a patient of yours. Dr. Hannibal

Lecter.

WYNN

I’m sorry. I’m afraid Dr. Lecter is off

limits...and your friend here, Mr. Doyle,

has a restraining order on him preventing

him from entering this facility. He has

harassed our staff in the past, so I

suggest you take him and leave.

TOMMY

What’s the matter, Wynn? Afraid I’ll

reveal the truth about your house of

horrors?

WYNN

You almost ruined this hospital’s

reputation with your asinine accusations,

young man. Experiments on babies?

Holding sane patients against their will?

Cult sacrifices? You’re the one with

problems and you’re damn lucky we didn’t

sue you for libel.

TOMMY

You didn’t sue me because you knew they’d

have to investigate your claims. Best to

keep it quiet rather than open yourself

up to ridicule.

CLARICE

Sir, we wouldn’t take up more than a

couple of minutes of Dr. Lecter’s time.

I assure you that if you do not let us

see him, that I will press for a warrant

that will allow me to speak with him. In

the process, I may have to issue a

warrant against you for obstructing

justice.

WYNN

What is this about, Agent Starling?

CLARICE

Michael Myers, sir. We believe that Dr.

Lecter may have vital information on how

to stop him.

WYNN

Why would Dr. Lecter know anything about

him?

CLARICE

Dr. Lecter has been of help to the FBI in

the past...doctor.

WYNN

Fine, but my orderly will be with you at

all times.

CLARICE

I’d prefer to speak with him alone, sir.

WYNN

This is my facility and if you wish to

speak with him, you’ll speak to him on my

terms.

NICK McCLAIN, now with an eye patch over his damaged eye, walks by,

pushing a standing gurney on some wheels. WYNN snaps his fingers at

NICK.

WYNN

Nick, accompany them to see Dr. Lecter.

They are not to be out of your sight.

NICK

Yes, sir.

NICK waves CLARICE and TOMMY to come with him.

CLARICE

I will need to speak with you before I

leave, doctor.

WYNN

I’ll be in my office.

WYNN turns and exits, glaring at TOMMY before disappearing down an

adjacent hallway.

NICK

Come with me.

NICK walks down the hallway, pushing the gurney as CLARICE and TOMMY

follow him.

INT. HADDONFIELD TOWN SQUARE – NIGHT

Townsfolk are walking their kids up and down the street as costumed

children walk along the sidewalks with their candy bags. Strobe lights

are seen blinking on store displays as a mummy is walking along, acting

as if he’s dying. He falls into the street and acts dead.

SEAN (now dressed as Clyde), VICKY, MYLES, and TELSA emerge from

“ZHEN’S BUSHIDO KARATE” and turn to walk down the sidewalk, passing

several costumed zombies, vampires, and even a Frankenstein in their

costumes.

SEAN

You can count on me, Vicky. I wouldn’t

leave you alone in this situation.

MYLES

Yeah. I’ve seen Michael in action and if

he does show up, you’re gonna need

everyone possible with you.

TELSA

Way to make us feel safe, Myles.

MYLES

Hey, it’s better to be prepared than

mincemeat.

VICKY

I don’t want to put anyone in danger.

This is a family problem.

SEAN stops and gently grips VICKY’S face.

SEAN

Vicky, we care about you. We wouldn’t be

going if we didn’t want to be there with

you.

VICKY

(smiles)

You’re just amazing, Sean. I wish my

father could see what I see. I’m such a

lucky girl to have found a great guy like

you.

SEAN

I’m the lucky one.

MYLES

I wasn’t going to interrupt, but one more

mushy word and I’m gonna puke.

TELSA

And he’s the romantic of the bunch.

Behind them, a car coasts up to the curb, seemingly following them.

VICKY turns and sees a huge limousine stop next to them.

They all freeze as TWO GOONS in suits, BRUNO and FRANK, emerge from the

car. SEAN recognizes them as he backs everyone off.

SEAN

Guys, stay back.

VICKY

What’s going on?

BRUNO

Sean, your father would like a word with

you.

FRANK

Now.

SEAN

What is it?

BRUNO and FRANK grab SEAN by the collar.

SEAN

What are you doing?!

BRUNO and FRANK open the back of the limo door and shove SEAN inside.

MYLES steps forward, but BRUNO puts his hand on MYLES’S chest as FRANK

walks around the car to guard the other side.

MYLES

What’s going on?

BRUNO

Mr. Beretti would like his privacy.

He’ll just be a minute.

VICKY

But—

BRUNO

Just a minute!

MYLES, VICKY, and TELSA back off with concerned faces as BRUNO and

FRANK stand on either side of the car holding their wrists in bodyguard

position.

INT. LIMOUSINE

SEAN sits in his seat with the dark figure of his father, TONY BERETTI,

sitting in the seat opposite him.

TONY is in his late 40’s-early 50’s, with dark slicked-back hair and

seething blue eyes. He is dressed in a very expensive suit and bears a

ring with a large jewel in the center on his right ring finger.

TONY moves forward and pours himself a glass of champagne, almost

emerging from the shadows as he speaks with his Brooklyn accent.

TONY

Son, I’m going to ask you some very

direct questions and I want some very

direct answers.

SEAN

Couldn’t this wait until I came home?

TONY

I have busted my ass to put food on the

table for you all these years. My

business may not the life your mother

wanted for you, but it is my means for

living and keeping that shelter over our

heads.

SEAN

What is this about, dad?

TONY

Today, I received a phone call from my

source within the sheriff’s department.

It seems that a shipment I had headed for

these very docks has been exposed by an

anonymous phone call, a phone call from

someone who had intimate knowledge of my

procedures of operation. I’ve racked my

brain trying to think of who could have

betrayed me.

SEAN

What does that have to do with me?

TONY

Was it you, son?

SEAN

Me? I don’t know anything about your

business. Why would you think it was me?

TONY

Because your relationship with this girl

Vicky is a liability. Her father is the

sheriff and he represents everything that

I’m against. Did you leak anything to

your girlfriend that she could have told

them at the office?

SEAN

If I know nothing, I can leak nothing.

TONY nods his head. He suddenly jerks forward, grabbing SEAN by his

left ear and speaking into his right one.

TONY

If I find out you’re lying, blood or no

blood, they’ll find you floating in Lake

Michigan with cinder blocks tied to your

feet. Do you understand me, son?

SEAN

(angry)

I understand, dad.

TONY shoves SEAN back into his seat and motions towards the door with

his ringed finger.

TONY

Get out.

SEAN stares at TONY with anger before exiting the car.

EXT. THE CAR

SEAN stares down at the car with anger as BRUNO and FRANK climb into

the car. VICKY, TELSA, and MYLES walk over to SEAN and VICKY grabs his

arm tenderly. The window of the limo rolls down as TONY stares with

intimidation at SEAN. Their eyes don’t blink as the limo pulls away.

VICKY looks at SEAN’S expression.

VICKY

What was that about?

SEAN

I don’t want to talk about it.

VICKY

Are you sure?

SEAN

(nods)

Yeah. Let’s just get over to the station

and get Steven.

VICKY looks worried about SEAN, but nods reluctantly. VICKY grips his

hand in hers before they turn and begin walking down the road through

the trick-or-treaters. MYLES shakes his head in disgust as he and

TELSA follow them.

INT. SMITH’S GROVE SANITARIUM – MAXIMUM SECURITY

The cell door at the end of the hallway is opened. NICK enters,

leading CLARICE and TOMMY into the wing. TOMMY looks angry as he looks

around the place.

TOMMY

Hasn’t changed much, though this is an

added hallway.

CLARICE

Just follow my lead. If he asks

questions, be honest with him. He

doesn’t like for people to lie to him.

He can sense it.

NICK

Stay away from the glass and I’ll be

right down here at the end of the hall.

CLARICE

Thank you.

NICK turns and walks away as CLARICE and TOMMY begin slowly walking

down the hallway.

TOMMY

I’ve read about this guy. Is he as scary

as they say he is?

CLARICE

Scarier.

CLARICE and TOMMY reach the glass wall and turn to see HANNIBAL LECTER,

sitting with his back turned in almost a meditative position. HANNIBAL

sniffs the air.

HANNIBAL

Ah, my little Starling.

HANNIBAL turns with a sinister smile. HANNIBAL studies CLARICE in her

FBI suit and TOMMY in his casual clothes and beard.

HANNIBAL

Hello, Clarice. You’re looking simply

alluring. You’ve lost weight.

Brightened your hair, too. Didn’t like

the red phase. You didn’t look yourself.

Who’s your friend? He’s not FBI.

Doesn’t follow the dress code.

CLARICE

This is Tommy Doyle.

HANNIBAL

Doyle. Haddonfield’s long-suffering hero

transformed into a mockery by the

unfounded claims of abuse by Smith’s

Grove.

CLARICE

I’m here about your comments earlier, Dr.

Lecter, about the “thorny path”.

HANNIBAL

No, no, no. Clarice, we’re old friends.

We haven’t even reminisced. Old friends

don’t jump straight into business. No.

They talk about their lives since their

last meeting. Tell me, Clarice. Did the

lambs ever stop screaming?

CLARICE

The lambs died, sir, just like my father

and just like a little boy if I don’t

find him.

HANNIBAL

Ah, so my little Starling hasn’t given up

trying to save the lambs from the

slaughter. How’s Jack Crawford? Still

using his position to play knight in

shining armor so that he can get his just

rewards?

CLARICE

I don’t know what you mean, sir.

HANNIBAL

Jack promised to rescue you from

purgatory should you succeed on this

little mission, didn’t he? Little do you

know, my little Starling, that you are

now the lamb being led to the slaughter.

CLARICE

Not if I can find a way to stop him, Dr.

Lecter.

HANNIBAL

Yes, of course. How’s the love life?

Still bordering on being the cat lady?

You know, the old madam who never married

because she was so wrapped up in her

career to find a personal life?

CLARICE

There’s been...no one, sir. Not in a

long time.

HANNIBAL

Do you hear the snickers in the office,

the offhand comments about your

sexuality? All those men in upper-level

positions calling you names, such as

‘lesbian’ or ‘dike’ while saying all that

little Clarice needs is a good stick in

the right place to lighten herself up?

CLARICE looks uneasy as TOMMY looks sympathetically at her.

CLARICE

(shaking)

Yes. I hear them. Not much I can do. I

can’t control what people say about me,

Dr. Lecter. They can either believe

it...or not. I don’t really care. I

choose to be on my own because it’s

easier. Quid pro quo, Dr. Lecter. How

do I catch Michael Myers?

HANNIBAL

We’ll move on to Michael Myers shortly.

Right now, we’re talking about you and

your lack of a significant other. Tell

me, Clarice. Isn’t the real reason you

can’t have a relationship with a man

because your father was killed? As a

result of that one incident, don’t you

have trouble opening up to other men, for

fear that they, too, will leave you like

your father left you?

CLARICE stifles a sad laugh.

CLARICE

Yes, Dr. Lecter. That’s right. I spend

every waking minute keeping myself

occupied as an excuse not to get close to

any man. My father died when I was very

young and I never, ever got over it. My

secret’s out. You’ve got me.

HANNIBAL

Isn’t it the truth that your quest for

redemption in the search for Michael

Myers is really just a way of looking for

approval from your father that you’ll

never receive?

TOMMY

Enough! She’s given you more than enough

information about herself. Now give us

something on Myers!

TOMMY hand pounds the glass.

CLARICE reaches up and gently grabs TOMMY’S hand, removing it from the

glass as HANNIBAL watches their contact closely.

CLARICE, pats TOMMY’S hand, motioning for him to cool it.

HANNIBAL

Mr. Doyle, I am quite surprised at this

outburst. You’ve sat over there since

you arrived and haven’t said one word to

me. Mention Michael Myers and your ears

perk up like a dog in heat. Tell me,

Tommy. What is it about Myers that

suddenly wakes you from your self-

inflicted comatose state?

TOMMY

He’s the reason I’m here. When I was a

child, he broke into my home and tried to

murder my babysitter. Now—

HANNIBAL

Ah, yes. I’ve read the file. Childhood

trauma. You were the boy that Michael’s

sister was watching. How unlucky for

you. But, I see that your Halloween

didn’t end at midnight as it did for the

rest of the world. Let me guess the

rest. It’ll be fun.

TOMMY

Feel free to guess whatever you want.

HANNIBAL

Young Tommy Doyle, from small town

Haddonfield, Illinois, has one traumatic

event in his childhood and it becomes an

obsession with him. He looks into

everything about this man who broke into

his house and tried to end his life

prematurely. Along the way, he comes

across some information on other killers,

part of his growing obsession, you see.

He’s trying to figure out Michael Myers’s

way of thinking. Reads up on Ed Gein,

Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, Buffalo Bill,

and maybe even old Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

HANNIBAL smiles as TOMMY doesn’t move.

HANNIBAL

But nothing helped, did it, Mr. Doyle?

Michael was always in your thoughts.

That sinister, dark shape standing at the

top of your stairs with black eyes and a

rage-driven force guiding him. Tell me,

Mr. Doyle. How far along after your

incident did the nightmares start?

Before it effected your education?

Before it consumed your life? Do you

still hear the deafening sound of

Michael’s breath echoing through your

house with one intention on his mind: to

kill his sister and any little boy that

may get in his way?

TOMMY

How do we stop him, doctor?

HANNIBAL

Tell me, Mr. Doyle. Can you ever silence

that shape? Can you ever stop that

breathing? It feels like fire, doesn’t

it? Tinging the hairs on your skin,

eating away into your heart. Will there

ever come a day when you can wake up,

fear-free, and walk down the street,

feeling safe? Not as long as he’s out

there. Not as long as he continues to

breathe. Michael Myers will forever be

looking over your shoulder.

TOMMY

You see a lot, Dr. Lecter, but I don’t

have time for therapy. Clarice thinks

you can help us. I have my doubts, but

I’m willing to entertain anything.

HANNIBAL

Tommy and Clarice, two broken souls just

trying to make the world a safer place

and on separate quests for redemption.

Clarice is attracted to you, Tommy. I

see it in her body language. The

touching, the looks, the camaraderie.

You’re attracted to her, too, but you’re

too dim to realize it because you’re

obsessed with a childhood memory that

won’t fade away.

TOMMY and CLARICE look at each other, both embarrassed.

CLARICE

We don’t have much time, Dr. Lecter. An

11-year old boy is counting on us. Give

us something on Wynn so that we can bring

him down.

HANNIBAL

My knowledge is very limited on Dr.

Wynn’s involvement. Tell me more and I

will be able to add my thoughts.

TOMMY

Dr. Wynn is a murderer. He’s crazy.

Blew away an entire police station back

in ’89 freeing Michael Myers from

captivity. There’s a rune. Thorn. It

represents a demon of the same name.

Wynn worships this demon and Michael is

inflicted with Thorn’s curse. Wynn has

no choice but to aid him and pave the way

so that Michael can kill his family off.

HANNIBAL

Is this what you told the courts during

your trial?

TOMMY

It’s the truth.

HANNIBAL

You should be behind this glass, not me.

Tell me, Tommy. Has your mind sank that

far into disarray that you’d think a

court of law would be interested in black

magic and witch’s brew? Did Michael

Myers scar you so badly that you’d

believe any theory that came to fruition?

TOMMY

It’s not a lie, Dr. Lecter.

HANNIBAL

Of course it’s a lie!

HANNIBAL takes out the file marked with the ‘MYERS, MICHAEL AUDREY’ on

it.

HANNIBAL

Dr. Loomis disagreed with you. He

believed Michael Myers to be pure

evil...not possessed by some demon.

TOMMY

Dr. Loomis didn’t have all the facts!

HANNIBAL

One thing stood out here for me. Dr. Sam

Loomis, an old man with facial burns and

a cane for walking, was never hunted down

and killed by Michael. Why is that?

Because Michael Myers wanted Loomis to

stop him. Michael wanted someone to end

his life. He wanted to stop killing, but

he couldn’t.

TOMMY

The curse. I’m telling you. It’s the

curse. Don’t you believe in anything but

science, Dr. Lecter?

HANNIBAL

No! (beat) I stopped believing in

anything involving faith a long time ago.

Why do you profess to have it when your

God has led you to this unfathomable

existence?

TOMMY

I’ve seen it with my own eyes. Tonight,

they have a ritual planned. Every

Halloween, they dress up in Druid robes

and make sacrifices of their alleged

criminals and the insane. Every

Halloween, this facility loses patients

and they cover it up.

HANNIBAL

Yes, of course. That’s why they brought

me here. Dawn said I would burn right

before I killed her.

CLARICE

You killed someone while you’ve been

here?

HANNIBAL smirks.

EXT. MAXIMUM SECURITY CELL

NICK is on the phone, talking rapidly.

NICK

He’s telling them everything, Dr. Wynn!

We need to shut him up!

INT. WYNN’S OFFICE

WYNN doesn’t look worried as he responds.

WYNN

Let him talk. They’ll come straight for

me once they’re finished. I’ll take care

of them. You take care of Lecter.

INT. LECTER’S CELL

CLARICE and TOMMY are listening to HANNIBAL on the other side of the

glass.

HANNIBAL

I don’t believe in ancient curses and

superstition, but I don’t doubt that

these people believe in it. Tonight,

they plan to burn me at the stake.

Clarice, you have the means to stop Wynn

within your grasp, but it has nothing to

do with Michael Myers. It has to do with

the reason why you live that lonely

single life.

CLARICE frowns.

CLARICE

What do you mean, Dr. Lecter?

HANNIBAL

Run along, Starling. You’re running out

of time.

CLARICE

What reason?! My father?! What does my

father have to do with this?!

HANNIBAL

I have enjoyed speaking with you.

HANNIBAL smiles, turns, and sits down with his back turned. TOMMY

gently grips CLARICE by the arm.

TOMMY

He’s done giving us anything. We’ll have

to wing it.

CLARICE turns and exits with TOMMY down the hallway as CLARICE looks

back to see HANNIBAL one last time.
