THE Golden Bean Music Awards (GBMA)ceremony is a few days away and nominat-ed artists are itching in anticipation. After a stunning display of talent and
heaps of potential at last year’s ceremony, this year can only to be bigger and better. The GBMA not only pays homage to artistsborn in the Free State, it also offers artistsin the province an opportunity to learnmore about the industry they are about tojoin.Teddy B, the creative director, explains
that the artists are nominated throughpeople’s choice.“Artists were chosen by their fans,”
Teddy B says.“The artists nominated have songs on
local radio stations and often get highrotation. The GBMA nominated artists wereselected through public vote. The publicwas responsible for the nominees in eachcategory. The GBMA executive committeethen sifted through the hundreds ofnominations and selected all the artists thatqualified for the awards.”The awards aim at promoting local talent,
as well as equipping young people withskills and information regarding the musicindustry. The GBMA’s vision is to have artists
from the Free State promoted to national oreven an international level, in terms ofproducing music or theatre productions.
The Free State provincial government haspromised to provide funding to create aprogramme, together with the GBMAorganisers, that will train eager artists tobe business-minded professionals within themusic industry. The workshops will be open to the public
and the 2014 nominated artists will also beenrolled with the basic skills developmentprogramme. The programme will span overa year and at the end of the year the artistsmust be able to create a sustainableincome.Artists will also be taught the importance
of registration with regulatory organisa-tions like the South African Music RightsOrganisation (Samro). The GBMA organisers would love to see
local amateur photographers working withlocal artists to build their own profiles, butalso to involve the artists.“The notion of Ubuntu should be used by
local artists.“A person is a person through other
people, and this is how a sustainable FreeState music industry will be maintained,”says Teddy B.

THE unavailability of informationabout the brutal assault which claimedthe life of Pule Simon Maleho fromVentersburg has caused controversybetween the justice-seeking family andthe police. No witness has come forthto give information that is crucial inthe police investigation to bring theassailants to book and render justiceto the Maleho family. The Ventersburg police have not
made an arrest as yet since the attackon the deceased in an alcohol-fuelledincident two months ago.Maleho jnr was found alive in the
early hours of 5 September, but died ofhead injuries later in the month. The deceased’s family is still seeking
answers about his assault. It is allegedhis assailants, a group of nine men,are known by members of the commu-nity of Mamahabane, Ventersburg. The assault apparently followed a
bitter argument between the deceasedand one of the group members at atavern in Mamahabane. He sustained severe head injuries
following an attack. It is alleged that one of the assail-
ants deliberately chased and hit thedeceased with a car. After this attack,he was severely beaten. The aggrieved father of the deceased,
Aupa Maleho, expressed displeasurewith the police’s inability to crack-down on the suspects, blaming policenegligence and not investigatinguseful clues that could lead to thearrest of the suspects who are said tobe roaming the streets of Mama-habane.According to Maleho senior, an
informant who could assist in theinvestigation has not been consultedafter the police were made aware ofthis information. He said the police were delaying
justice for his son.WO Malebo Khosana, spokesperson
of the Thabong Police Cluster, whichincludes the Ventersburg police,
refuted allegations of negligencesaying action was first taken by theon-duty police member, Const. Tshid-iso Lepitla, who interrogated thevictim upon finding him at the sceneof the attack where he was surroundedby community members on 5 Septem-ber at about 05:00. Lepitla called anambulance which transported thevictim to hospital.Khosana said on 6 September the
Ventersburg police had opened a caseof assault with the intent to causegrievous bodily harm (GBH) which hassince been changed to murder afterMaleho jnr had died. Khosana said ithad been reported that the deceased’sface was swollen and he had a strongodour of alcohol about him after theattack.Khosana refuted claims by Maleho
snr that he had not been informedabout the status quo of the investiga-tion under WO Ponti Moeketsi. He said a senior official had been
tasked to peruse the docket afterMaleho snr had lodged a grievancewith the police’s provincial office.“The official was satisfied with the
progress of the investigation andinformed Moeketsi that he wouldcontact Maleho snr directly to informhim of the findings,” said Khosana. The deceased died on 29 September.
Khosana said a post-mortem reporthad revealed Maleho jnr had died dueto head injuries. He said the reportissued by the paramedic who hadinitially examined the deceased in theambulance had revealed the victimhad had halted speech and a low levelof consciousness.Khosana said the investigation was
underway and requested eyewitnessesto provide information helpful in thearrest and conviction of the suspects. The deceased was treated at the
Bongani Regional Hospital inWelkom, Katleho Hospital in Virginiaand also the Pelonomi Hospital inBloemfontein where his father said hehad last seen him alive but bed-rid-den and being fed via a tube.

OUR faith will be tested by persecution, but true believers will hold on to theirconfession of faith. The only reason persecution will come,
is to discourage your faith. This persecu-tion does not only come from people we donot know, but also from those not onlyknown, but trusted. That could be yourmother, father, brother, sister, cousin evenneighbours. They will ask you, if truly your God is
alive, why this and that is happening toyou? Why did you lose your job if your God is
alive? Why didn’t God save your mar-riage?All these questions have only one
purpose and that purpose is to discourageyour faith. The most important thing to do in a
situation that seems contrary to yourfaith, is to walk away because when youdo so, God will start fighting for you. Some will say before I committed my life
to Jesus, my finances were well . . . It istrue, but Satan wants you to be discour-aged on the path of faith so that you giveup that faith.Job 2:9Job was a righteous man, but his faith
was persecuted.Satan destroyed everything he had,
killed his family, destroyed his farms andon top of that He inflicted on him a skindisease and He pushed his wife to perse-cute his faith. The Bible says Job received a great deal
of discouragement from his wife . . . shesaid to him: “Job, why don’t you curseyour God and die?”In other words, she meant to say to him
your God is useless, powerless, sleepingand forgetful. But the Bible says although he faced
such persecution to his faith; he did notgive up nor change the confession of hismouth. He still glorified God above hisskin disease, his loss of property, his lossof children. In the end Job was fullyrestored. The most important thing Satan would
like to destroy in the lives of people ofGod is faith and thus the most importantthing people of God should forever main-tain is their faith.Jesus honours faith the most and faith
honours Jesus the most.Dear readers, we should know that our
faith will be persecuted at some point;people will put your faith under scrutinyjust to discourage you.Do not change your confession of faith if
truly Jesus Christ is the basis of yourfaith.) celebrating the birth of Christ, theMessiah, often with lavish festivities,”Mohlonyane says.He says with poverty and unemploy-
ment, however, this time of year bringsmisery to many communities andhouseholds.“It is a period that needy families
wish would not arrive, as it is theperiod that brings the reality of povertyand hunger closer.“For children from poor families the
weekends and holidays are not thatmuch fun.“Many poor children receive school
meals during the week which may betheir only meal of the day, but whathappens during the weekends andschool holidays?“They are going without meals and
are faced with hunger every day,” hesays.Mohlonyane says there are pro-
grammes to mitigate child hungerduring school terms, with the provisionof meals at school reaching more than106 896 children across Mangaung. In many cases this is the only meal
of the day for children from poorfamilies. There is, however, still no programme
to deal with the problem of childhunger during weekends and holidays. The need is always huge in poor
areas, Mohlonyane says, and it is madeworse by the lack of employment, poverty and low income for manyfamilies, which result in many poorparents not being able to provideenough food for their children.
Food donation campaignThe community of Bloemfontein is
called upon to join efforts to lay thefoundation to end child hunger inMangaung. The Free Sate Food Project aims to
mobilize donations to feed 2 000 chil-dren on the daily basis during thefestive season, and also provide 2 000food parcels for Christmas. The campaign is collecting donations
from today until 21 December.
From 12 to 21 December meals will beprovided daily at different meal sitesacross the Bloemspruit area. The project will take a break on 22
December and children will be providedwith mini food parcels to take home.Children will receive daily meals againfrom 5 to 14 January 2015.
How can it be supported? We urge government departments and
businesses to join the campaign byparticipating in the corporate food dona-tion week from 8 to 12 December. Thisweek is aimed at giving workers theopportunity to donate both food andmoney. We also urge religious institutions to
dedicate one day’s offering in support ofthe campaign and ask their congregationsto support the initiative.
What can I do?The business community can donate
storage facilities for the period of theproject, where food can be stored and dailymeals can be prepared. The food industry can donate bulk food
for meals, both dry and fresh produce.Shopping centres around Bloemfontein
can allocate space for donation boxes andgrant permission for volunteers to manthese boxes on weekends.Farmers can donate fresh produce from
their farms.Transport companies can avail transport
services for the collection and distributionof food. They can also make donations ofnon-perishable food.People can also volunteer their time and
services in support of the project.
The following is needed for the durationof the project:) A light delivery vehicle for the collec-tion and distribution of food.
) A storage facility to store and sort foodand to package and prepare meals.) Stoves and pots for cooking the food. The following food products are needed
for food parcels:) 5 kg maize meal.) 2 kg rice.) 275 g tinned fish.) 500 g soya mince.
) 375 ml cooking oil.) soup packets.) 500 g sugar.) 20 tea bags.) vegetable seedlings – spinach, carrotsand cabbage. For more information, call Mohlon-

ARE YOU LOOKING FOR HAPPINESS, PEACE,PROSPERITY, LOVE AND GOOD HEALTH?
My dearest friends and fellow Africans, do notwaste time and money to take spiritualists whopromise and don’t deliver. I guarantee you. TheGreat Papa Magi will never disappoint you. Onlyone visit to him and you will live smiling. I am OMIESINGH, a resident of Pietermaritzburg, after I sawan article in the paper saying that The Great PapaMagi charges only R200. I believed in him, Ibooked an appointment and met with him at hisbeautiful temple. In Bloemfontein at Waverley
next to spar. Before I met him, I was struggling financially and I could not stay in relationships, whoever came in my life, and then something happened and my girlfriend left me.It was like a bad omen on me, but after I saw The Great Papa Magi, he touchedmy forehead and palms, and prayed for me and told me to wait for seven days. Injust 3 days, my girlfriend requested us to meet with her at their home. On arrival, she knelt down and told me she was ready to be my wife. We made a greatwedding and are happy now. The Great Papa Magi is the right person to solve oursociety problems. You can find him at next to Spar.Waverley Bloemfontein

TESTIMONYMr and Mrs Thabo
My last resort to bring backmy lost lover.
Me and my wife Bridget had givenup after losing my job and strugglingto keep up with my car and house
payment. I had to change schools formy children from private schools to
government schools because financially we were not stableanymore, but thanks to my in-law who gave me this woman ofGod's number, she helped me to turn my life around financially
by giving me a magic ring which brought back hope into mylife. It cost me only R800 and for the first time in my life I went
into a casino with my wife and we used our magic to hit ajackpot. Now my house and car are paid off and my childrenare back in private schools - now life is so wonderful, so in
case you are looking for the best healer, please look no more.

Things in my life wentfrom good to worse in avery short time. My lovelive, financial problemsjealousy, my husband’s
family were all against me.Luckily I came acrossSonia through a friend. She helped me and
showed me my enemiesthrough a mirror for only R200. She did miracles in my life. She told me all my problems without mentioning anythingto her. She showed me the people who worked hard tosee me suffering some of which were my friends and
relatives. She performed a special prayer, washed awaymy bad luck and cleansed my home. Gave me a lovepotion with a ring for my financial problems in less thanfive days, my husband was always by my side and my
enemies confessed and asked for forgiveness. Come andvisit me at Bayswater.
