R.A.D. SELF DEFENSE COURSE

The Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) System is a program of realistic self-defense tactics and techniques for women. The R.A.D. System is a comprehensive, women-only course that begins with awareness, prevention, risk reduction and risk avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training. R.A.D. is not a Martial Arts program. The Lee County Sheriff’s Department is offering a R.A.D. course to any woman 13 and older on October 28, 29, and November 4 and 5 from 5:30-8:30 p.m. This twelve-hour course requires your attendance at each session to participate in the final simulation for safety reasons. AUBURN ART 3RD ANNUAL SIGNATURE AUBURN ARTIST CHALLENGE Artists and craftsmen interested in selling original pieces in downtown Auburn have the opportunity to do so through Auburn Art’s Third Annual Signature Auburn Artist Search. Now through October 30, Auburn Art is accepting entries for art of all kinds via its Facebook page. Any type of work is accepted: paintings, jewelry, drawings, pottery, glass, crafts, or anything with a decidedly Auburn or Southern flair. When entries close on Oct. 30, photos of all submitted pieces will be on display on Auburn Art’s Facebook page, and voting by the community will begin. Following community voting, the top three pieces will be voted on by a panel of expert judges. The winner of the contest will be able to sell piece(s) in Auburn Art and on auburnart.com.

DOWNTOWN TRICK OR TREAT OCT. 31 Auburn Parks and Recreation and the Auburn Downtown Merchants will partner for the 13th Annual Downtown Trick or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 - 8 p.m. This FREE community event features candy and giveaways - courtesy of downtown merchants, live music, and children's activities. Downtown Trick or Treat offers children 12 years and younger an excellent alternative to door-to-door trick or treating. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
