Exploring Anchorage on your own
After picking you up at the airport in Anchorage, your driver will transport you to your
hotel for the evening. You are free to begin exploring the city on your own, and to enjoy
dinner at one of our recommended restaurants. Accommodations are at the Hotel
Captain Cook, in a Junior Suite.
After an early morning pick-up, you’ll board the world-famous Alaska Railroad GoldStar
dome train for the scenic full-day ride to Denali National Park. From the open-air
platform or glass-covered observation deck, you’ll soak up views of tundra, deep river
canyons, and mountains—including magnificent Denali. Accommodations are at the
Denali Park Village, in a River View Room.

Denali Park Village
Mid-morning, depart on your private transfer to Girdwood through the Matanuska
Valley—one of the most continuously spectacular drives anywhere. Along the way,
you’ll stop at Happy Trails Kennel, famous for its championship sled dogs. Meet the
dogs, visit with a four-time Iditarod champion, and experience a demonstration run.

DAY THREE Travel into Denali National Park Travel from Denali to GirdwoodDAY FOUR
Travel 95 miles into Denali National Park aboard the Denali Backcountry Lodge bus,
spotting moose, bear, wolves and other wildlife. Stops on the journey include lunch
at the lodge and panning for gold at a historic claim site. Late afternoon, return to the
park entrance in a Cessna 206, flying through the awe-inspiring Alaska Range, over
glaciers, and to the North Face of Denali. Accommodations are at the Denali Park
Village, in a River View Room.

Arguably the only luxury hotel in Anchorage, and boasting downtown’s
