Conclusions
• Vessel tracking data can be used to understand,
map and quantify activities at sea, including how
they change over time
• It is possible to turn large amount of data into
elements that can be useful to policy makers
• The knowledge it is extracted directly from the
data, using data mining and knowledge discovery
techniques
