Comments on Common Systems

• SHMS SC magnet designs utilized standardized & tested systems & components.

• Use of Standardized Tested Systems results in safer magnets.

• Standardized magnet system components lead to sensible higher quality magnet solutions that are easier to operate and maintain.

• Standardized components (procured in bulk by JLAB) saved money & time.

DCPS Testing

• Factory test of PSU into a resistive load was witnessed by JLAB staff.

• PSU’s acceptance test within Hall C using the HMS magnets as the

inductive load - June 2014.

• Issue with the regulation boards allowing an in rush of current when the

PSU main (to the magnet) is turned on.

• Repaired regulation boards have been installed and re-tested.

• Improvements to the Dump bypass switch opening times have been made

and tested. Dump bypass switch opening times went from ~1 sec to ~30ms.

• V-loop boards have been adjusted to reduce ringing. Final balancing will

occur once connected to magnets inductive load.
