[Venturi Meter]
Procedure:
(1) Attached the manometer to the taps across venture meter.(2) Height of Mercury in two tubes should be at the same level.(3) Switched on the pump and controlled the volume
gradually. (4) Noted the difference of height of Mercury in two links
collected the water in the bucket for the specific time and at the end we weighed it.
Theory:Venturi Meter is a device which is also a variable head meter. And is used to calculate the flow rate for closed and semi-Closed system it is used.
Observations and CalculationsDensity of water (ρm) = 1 g/cm3
Density of Mercury (ρHg) = 13.54 gm/cm3
Viscosity of Water (μw) = 10.292 gm/ cm3
Diameter of Pipe (d1) = 4.08 cm
Diameter of Throat of venture meter (d2) = 2.54 cm
Venturi distance between the taps (∆z) = 11.3 cm
Cross sectional area of Pipe (A1) = π4 (4.08)2
= 13.079 cm2
Cross sectional area of Throat (A2) = π4 (2.54)2
= 5.067075 cm2
(1) Ahw = ( ρHg−ρwρw )∆hHg
= 9.554 cm
(2) CD = Gρw √A12−A2

= 1√2 g ¿¿¿
G= 300 g/sec and CD = 0.299949
(3) H1 = G/ρA1 = 22.94
H2 = G/ρA2 = 59.205
(4) NRe1 = d1μ1 ρμm = 9.0964
NRe2 = d1μ1 ρμm
= 14.9116
(5) ∆ P = ρw g ∆hw / gc
= 9.5554
(6) Q =UA =300 g/sec
(7) G’=G/A2 = 59.205
