COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICE

This is an option to get the degree of the Bachelor of Arts in English throghot the

perfor!ing of the social ser"ice of the stdent # $or getting it% CIE& stdents ha"e to

practice as English teachers in their co!!nities to teach "lnera'le children# After the social

ser"ice% the practitioners ha"e to ela'orate a report of (hat the) did#

Throgh the social ser"ice the stdent perfor!s te!porar) acti"ities (here applies the

gained *no(ledge# This i!plies the professional practice to 'enefit or interest of societ)% it is

an en"iron!ent (here stdents de"elop personal and (or* s*ills that (ill facilitate their

incrsion in the (or*place#

Before starting the co!!nit) social ser"ice% it is i!portant that the practitioner as*

a'ot the infrastrctre and resorces of the place (here the social ser"ice (ill 'e held# If the

place (here the stdents are going to practice does not ha"e didactic !aterial% the

practicioner (ill ha"e to ela'orate it% or adapt the ones he or she possess#

The practicioners will face different situations while the social

service is held. For example,the different ages of children and teenagers% thefacilities presented in the place (here the) li"e +sch as a hose garage% a !eeting

roo!% or a 'allroo!, places (ithot seats% (hite'oard% a!ong other aspects-% different

cltral% social% and edcational conte.ts% and also English le"el in the sa!e grop#

The community service is as a challenge because you do not know what is coming up or what

are you going to face and is without seek no reward at the end of it, that is, you are practicing in

the professional field to prepare yourself and be ready to face and learn how to deal withdifferent situations in the classroom during the class.

You need to take into account some recommendation about how to work with students

from different context. Try not to waste too much time in the explanation of the subject because remember that

you only have two or three hours to work with. Dress according the occasion, that is, try not to call students attention for the clothes

you are wearing.
