Self-guided campus tours Get to know the campus in your own time. You can pick up a self-guided tour leaflet at the Registration Desk in the Students’ Union. Taking the whole tour takes between 45 minutes to an hour, but you don’t have to do it in one go. You can choose where you take yourself on the tour at a time to suit you best. You can fit it around your day and the locations you’ll be visiting for exhibitions, talks or where you’re having lunch.

Accommodation tours

Where The Edge, Endcliffe.
How to get there Our postgraduate student accommodation is a short walk or bus ride away.
The walk will take around 20 minutes and you can pick up a self-guided walking tour from the Registration Desk in the Postgraduate Study Fair. The journey by bus will take around 10 minutes and you can catch the 120 bus from Glossop Road behind the Students’ Union (See map on page 22). Ask the bus driver for ‘Endcliffe Student Accommodation’. The site is clearly signposted from the bus stop. Go to Reception at The Edge.
Library tours
When Every 15 minutes from 12pm–4pm The Diamond Our new 24-hour space learning space is now open and offers 1000 additional study spaces to all students in all departments.
Please go to the main reception desk at the Diamond, a member of staff will take you over to Library Connect where you will be shown the facilities on level 0 and level 4. (map ref 199) Western Bank Library Arts and humanities, sciences and social sciences. Research Materials, archives and special collections. Please look out for the student ambassador as you arrive and they will collect you from the main entrance. (map ref 103) Information Commons Our 24/7 library, study space and meeting place. By train and tramTravelling by train to Sheffield is easy. We’re on all the mainline routes across the UK. From the train station there’s a tram roughly every ten minutes to campus. The journey takes about ten minutes. Get the blue line towards Malin Bridge and ask for a ticket to the University.
Our student ambassadors will be at the train station all day so if you need any help, please ask them.
By coachNational Express nationwide coach service has connections from around the country that stop at the Sheffield Transport Interchange, Pond Street. Megabus Coaches also stop at the Meadowhall Interchange which is accessible by Supertram from the city centre.
By carThere are a range of parking options available in the city centre. We recommend checking the Sheffield City Council web pages for travel, parking advice and a map of public car parking available at: www.sheffield.gov.uk/roads.There are a couple of multi-story car parks located in the city centre that are operated by Q-park. For locations and prices see: www.q-park.co.uk/parking/sheffield
There are also Park and Ride facilities available but please be aware that these will be busy with shoppers.
Stay overIf you’d like to spend more time in Sheffield before or after your open day, we can recommend some great hotels, B&Bs and restaurants. This gives you a chance to explore the city further and get a feel for it. We even have our own boutique hotel, Halifax Hall Hotel.

Arts Tower Bakehouse, the Arts Tower (map ref E2 104) This brand new bakehouse serves pies and pasties fresh out of the oven. It’s located on the lower ground floor of the Arts Tower, where you’ll also find the famous Paternoster lift.
Bar One, level 1 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) Fantastically tasty food including toasted sandwiches, juicy burgers & buttermilk chicken.
Coffee Revolution, level 3 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) They serve great coffee here and it’s all fairtrade. There are lots of freshly made lunch options and plenty of cakes and pastries to choose from.
Grill & Go, level 3 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) Serving up a great selection of fresh and healthy wraps in a variety of international flavours. (Halal).
Interval Cafe Bar (map ref E3 119) There are loads of lunch options here including hot main meals, soups and sandwiches.
Jessop Cafe, Jessop West (map ref F3 184) A centrally located cafe with a great atmosphere. Offering a wide variety of hot and cold food made on site.
Krebs, Firth Court (map ref D3 105) A traditional and beautiful redbrick setting for tea, coffee, sandwiches and cakes.
Mappin Cafe, Sir Frederick Mappin Building (map ref H3 170) A recently revamped cafe with a great range of international food.
Our Shop, level 3 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) If you want to grab and go, there’s fresh coffee, sandwiches, pasties, salads and more.
Uni Central, level 4 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) Here you’ll find a worldwide range of food, whether you want
chow mein from our wok station, homemade pizzas or roasted peri peri chicken.
The University Arms (map ref E3 126) A one of a kind University-owned pub serving real ales and locally sourced pub food.
The View Deli, level 4 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) The amazing city views from this cafe are unmissable. Start your day with a freshly baked pastry or breakfast muffin. For lunch, there’s plenty of choice including a variety of in-house deli sandwiches.
Edge Café, Endcliffe accommodation (see Central Sheffield map ref 9) At the heart of Endcliffe accommodation this café is a great place to meet and spend time. Coffee, pastries and sandwiches. At night we sell pizzas to go.
IC Café (map ref F3 133) Part of the Information Commons, this busy café is open 24/7 in term time and provides a great range of hot and cold snacks to feed the body and mind whilst you’re hard at work.
Inox Dine (map ref E4 120) A contemporary British restaurant located on the fifth floor of the Students’ Union building serving great quality, locally sourced food.
Pearls Bubble Tea (map ref E4 120) Serving a selection of traditional bubble tea drinks and hot tasty noodle pots to go.
Where to eat
There are loads of places to eat on campus, whetheryou want to grab a quick sandwich on the move or sitdown to a pub lunch. You can take food away from anyof our venues, except Bar One, The University Armsand Inox Dine, which are eat in only.Map references refer to the separate Campus Map 2016.
Cafe 1828 Medical School, Royal Hallamshire Hospital (map ref 88) A slick and modern café located in the Medical School, featuring a great range of coffees, snacks and bowl food.
New Leaf, level 3 in the Students’ Union (map ref E4 120) Come to our salad bar to create your perfect takeaway salad or falafel wrap for yourself.
Diamond Kitchen (map ref G3 199) Located in the hub of The Diamond, Diamond Kitchen offers a great range of international flavours.
Proper Pasty Co, level 3 in Students Union (map ref E4 120) Offers award winning Cornish pasties, pizza slices, jacket potatoes and hot & cold drinks.
