WHAT IS TEACHING WITH C I ?
Successful language learners have one thing in common:!Comprehensible Input!
TPRS and TCI are research-based approaches to teaching languages for the purpose of developing communicative competence or FLUENCY. Fluency develops as students interact with
a continuous flow of compelling contextualized Comprehensible Input
CI can take multiple forms, including powerful questioning techniques, story-based strategies, video-based activities, music, role-plays, and extensive reading. In addition to Free Voluntary Reading, CI instructors integrate a great deal of scaffolded, level-appropriate reading.
Regardless of (perceived) ability levels, the end goal is to achieve time-lapsed acquisition by creating a ‘Hybrid Immersion’ experience, which eliminates INcomprehensible input, encourages continuous interaction in the Target Language and focuses on a manageable number of high-frequency structures that are essential for immediate communication.
If you would like to learn how to create a ‘Hybrid Immersion’ experience that results in rapid, measurable fluency, lowers attrition rates and meets National Standards, register for iFLT 2016 today!
