The Padmanabhaswamy Temple around which the City literally developed, is an architectural wonder. Situated in the heart of the old city, the massive structure has

a staggering 100 feet high "Gopuram", the main temple tower. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the family deity of the Royal Family of Travancore to whom the Temple

belongs, the massive idol in the sanctum measures 18 feet in length and is covered with gold and other precious stones.

Napier Museum & Horse Palace Museum

This palace was built by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma, the King of Travancore, a great poet, musician, social reformer and statesman, in the mid 9th century. This rare specimen of workmanship in the traditional Travancore style of architecture has exquisite wood carvings. The palace museum displays paintings and various priceless collections of the Royal Family and is located near the Padmanabha Swamy Temple

Thiruvananthapuram Golf Club

The Trivandrum golf course was laid out in the 1850s during the days of the late Maharajah Sree Moolam Thirunal, and is one of the oldest in the world. The royal family of erstwhile Travancore had established this golf course even before the Americans and the Europeans took to the game.
