Expectations• In Year 5/6, I have very high
expectations.• We expect the children to abide by
the new Behaviour Code at all times and ensure that they are setting an outstanding example to the rest of the school.
Behaviour Scheme – Good to be Green
• In every classroom.• Aim to be green all
week.• Start on green each day.• Yellow card for first
misdemeanour.• Red card for continued
poor behaviour.
• This will result in a Thinking About Behaviour sheet being sent home.
Thinking About Behaviour sheet
• Teacher fills in the top.
• The child then fills in the bottom.
• This will then be sent home for parents to sign and return. Comments can be added at the bottom.
Homework
• Term set of activities tied into topics.• MyMaths activity each week.• Year 6 will have extra maths homework.• Spelling will go out on Friday and will be
linked to our spelling teaching during the week.
Reading Records• Reading every night for at least 15
minutes if possible – reader of the term.
• This could be reading allowed to a younger sibling or reading silently.
• A parent or family member must sign to say that they have seen or heard reading.Please make full use of the Reading Record book.
Appearance• As you are in upper primary, it is important
that you look smart at all times.• Ensure that your shirt is tucked in and please
make sure you look clean and tidy.• If you have long hair (girls and boys), please
tie it up as it looks far more presentable than if it is down.
• Earrings should be limited to a plain stud in each ear. Hoops are not permitted.
• School uniform must be correct every day, unless we receive a note from your parents. Uniform list is on the school website.
PE kit• PE kit should consist of your house t-shirt,
white shorts and plimsolls for indoor use, as well as outdoor kits, tracksuit top and bottoms and sensible trainers for the winter.
• PE on Monday & Thursday.• Trainers may be worn for outdoor PE only.• Earrings must be removed for every PE
lesson.• Hair must be tied up, as previously stated.
Handwriting pen licence
• On completion of 2 satisfactory pieces of writing, you will be awarded with your handwriting pen licence.
• In order to obtain this privilege, you must ensure that you are following the Cursive style of handwriting.
• Your licence can be removed at any time if we feel your writing is scruffy or rushed.
House points and raffle tickets.
• Raffle tickets will be awarded to children for good behaviour, kindness and excellent work.
• One raffle ticket goes into the End of Term draw.
• House points are given as normal.
Spills• We can’t lie, Year 5 is a very
important year.• In September next year, some of
you will undertake your 11+ tests.• You will encounter NVR and VR
papers.
