The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), which is located in UTM Kuala Lumpur campus is a joint initiative between the Malaysian and Japanese Government consisting of a consortium of 25 universities from Japan offering Japanese-inspired engineering education in Malaysia.

Strengthening Research EcosystemFaculties are now given bigger responsibility to enhance research capacities with the appointment of Deputy Dean (R&I) to propel research groups.
CoE StreamliningA total of 28 CoE underwent merging process to create 6 research institute with stronger research capacities & capabilities.
IP Office RebrandingBureau of Innovation and Consultancy (BIP) was restructured and rebranded to Innovation and Commercialization Centre (ICC) to focus more on product pre-commercialization, patent filing and technology licensing.
Centralized LabUniversity Industry Research Laboratory (UIRL/UPMU) was established to house high-end equipment for cost reduction, resources sharing and external income generation.
