About us

EXPAL, as head of the Business Unit of Defence of the MAXAM Group, constitutes the most important industrial group in Spain within the industry of ammunition and explosives as well as the number 1 in Demilitarization and Soil remediation.

With a wide and complete range of products, EXPAL also provides services of maintenance and modernization of platforms, armoured vehicles and aircraft systems.

About us

EXPAL manages the whole lifecycle of ammunition and explosives, from its design, development, manufacture and maintenance, to its destruction at the end of its useful life, destining all of the recycled components, in accordance to the international regulations, to its reuse in the civil industry, explosives for public works, mining industry, hunting powder, etc.

Industrial Tradition

EXPAL was founded In 1946.

EXPAL became a leading supplier of aviation bombs for the Spanish Air Force, and received the category of “Aeronautical Industry”.

Later on the Spanish MoD declared EXPAL as a “Company of Interest for the National Defence”.

The factory of Páramo de Masa was founded in 1979 and over the next years became a reliable and modern Plant for loading, assembling and packing of ammunition, able to accomplish the most demanding quality requirements.

This plant has been defined by the NATO as “...one of the most important ammunition loading facilities in the Organization.”

2008

EXPAL, participating in the process of concentration of the defence industry in Europe, acquires the Ammunitionarsenalet company (AMA) to the Danish Ministry of Defence.

AMA, dedicated since 1676 to supply small-caliber ammunition, became DENEX.

EXPAL completes its range of ammunition with joining this caliber .

EXPAL constitute a subsidiary of technologic innovation, to equip their products with advanced technological elements.

It main activity is the design, manufacture and marketing of all types of electronic or electromechanical on board systems.

EXPAL signed an agreement of acquisition with the company GENERAL DYNAMICS, assuming the assets and production lines of its factory in Murcia, in the Southeast of Spain, ensuring the viability of this Centre, of long tradition, and dedicated to manufacture military powder and nitrocellulose.

EXPAL, this way, becomes the absolute leader in the Spanish industry of ammunition and military explosives.

EXPAL is classified by the Spanish Mod according to the regulation PECAL/AQAP-2110: “OTAN requirements of Quality Assurance for the design, development and production”.

EXPAL production centres are certified under the regulation PECAL/AQAP 2120 “OTAN requirements of Quality Assurance for the production”.
