Book of Exodus Historical BackgroundPharaoh of the Exodus

Amenhotep II was probably thepharaoh of the exodus (1447-1421)

Dream Stela - Thutmose IV was successor to Amenhotep II but he was not the crown prince

According to Thutmose's account on the Dream Stele, the young prince was out on a hunting trip and stopped to rest under the head of the Sphinx, which was buried up to the neck in sand. He fell asleep and had a dream in which the Sphinx told him that if he cleared away the sand and restored it he would become the next Pharaoh.

This raise the question of what happen to the true successor to the throne – death of first-born plague
