Existalite ICM : a range of advanced low profileconversion modules combining highly efficient
DC-AC inverter circuits with an intelligent testingprotocol, to effectively operate and monitor
fluorescent lighting in emergency mode.
The Existalite ICM intelligent emergency lighting module is capable of driving a wide
range of 4-Pin fluorescent lamps from 4 to 80 W, whilst simultaneously fulfilling
the test requirement for emergency lighting in line with IEC 62034.
Available as either conversion module with battery for integration into existing
mains fluorescent lamps, or fully assembled remote conversion kit for installations
where space or temperature restrictions make integral conversions impossible.

Remote enclosures
Remote conversion kits are available for use where luminaire internal temperatures are too high,or luminaires have insufficient internal room for the conversion module and battery.
Kits comprise all necessary components: geartray, battery and cable loom. IP20 remoteenclosures are available as standard, with IP54 rated kits to special order (contact Thomas & Bettsto discuss particular requirements).

ICM automated testing
Existalite ICM modules include Self-Testfunctionality as standard, with the optionto upgrade to central addressable testingthrough addition of a 'FittingLink' interfacemodule.
Self-Test continuously monitors theemergency lighting circuit and runsfunctional tests at specific times in line with appropriate standards. Faults areindicated locally at the luminaire.
Central addressable testing offers a more comprehensive solution designed to permit management of tests from aconvenient central location.
For central addressable conversions, theExistalite ICM module is connected to a‘FittingLink’ module which provides thedata link (via an interface) to the centralcontrol unit.
Up to 750 emergency lighting units can be controlled by each interface (depending on cabling limitations).

Batteries
Existalite ICM intelligent modules can besupplied with advanced hightemperature Nickel Cadmium (NiCad)batteries which, when properly installedin compliance with the EN 60598-2-22product standard, are designed to give aminimum of 4 years service life.
Batteries are available in a range ofconfigurations for best fit to availablespace within the luminaire.
Side by side battery sticks of the samesize (e.g. 2 x 2 cell) can be slottedtogether by the end caps, permittingbatteries to be fixed using only 2 screws.

Module ballast lumenfactor (% of normal lamp output lumens)
The chart shown right establishesthe ballast lumen factor (BLF) ofExistalite ICM intelligent modulesand remote conversion kits.
To select the correct module, crossreference the lamp type to beconverted with the relevant modulereference, to achieve the stated BLF(e.g. ICM343 module converts an 8 W T5 lamp to emergency use,with 3 hour duration and providinga BLF of 24%).
The required number of battery cellsfor each lamp is also shown.
Conversion notes
1. All emergency lighting conversions should be undertaken in accordance with relevantnational requirements and codes of practice,including ICEL 1004.
2. Converted luminaires should comply with EMC and Low Voltage Directives in order to carry the CE mark.
3. When remote mounting, the connecting cable between the lamp and the module/battery should not exceed 1 m.
