1 PROJECT DESCRIPTION Sanghi Industries Limited (SIL) proposed the Greenfield project of 2.0 MTPA Standalone

grinding unit with bulk and bag packing plant at Survey No. 125/1, 125/2,126/1+2+3,

Shivrampur Village, Tal. Choryasi, Dist.- Surat, Gujarat. This activity falls in Category- B

under Project/Activity 3(b) schedule as per EIA Notification dated 14 th September,

2006, as subsequent amendments. The coordinates of the site presented below as:

ELECTRICITY

The estimated power demand for the proposed grinding and packing plant is estimated

as 13.5 MW, which will be sourced from state electricity board at 66 KV or willing from

CPP at Sanghipuram. A DG Set of 2 MW will be used in emergency case.

FUEL

Approx. 1200 TPH coal/petcoke/lignite will be required.

2 MAGNITUDE OF THE OPERATION Total cement produced per day = 2,000,000/ 330 = 6,060 Tons

Cement storage of 2 x 7,000 Tons silo is proposed, which is adequate for about 3 day of

production. Cement from the grinding system is transported to the silos with the help of air

slides and bucket elevators. From the silos, cement shall be transported to the packer with

the help of a set of air slides and bucket elevators.

3 AIR ENVIRONMENT There will be fugitive emission from cement mill, Hot Air generator and packing of cement;

while there will be no process gas emission.

5 NOISE ENVIRONMENT The heavy machinery and large fans equipped in various parts of the cement grinding unit

can give rise to noise and/or vibration emissions. Any operations involving crushing, milling

and screening of raw material, fuels, exhaust fans. Properly insulated enclosures will be

provided for high noise generating plant machinery. More than 33% area will be developed

as Green belt (4125 Nos. of trees) to curb the noise and dust.

6 GREEN BELT DEVELOPMENT PLAN

Total 16500 sq m. area will be developed as green belt within the premises.

7 OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY

Project proponent is committed towards the health and safety of workers.

Safety training will be provided to the employees. Safety sirens with alarm system in case of emergency will be provided

Emergency control room will be established.

Fire-fighting network including fire extinguishers, fire hydrant system etc. covering entire plant will be provided.

First aid boxes at appropriate place and safety training will be provided.

Personal protective gears and equipment will be provided to the employees.

Health check-ups will be organized at regular intervals.

Proponent will make provision of industrial hygienist and monitoring of the occupational injury and maintain the record of the same as per requirement of Gujarat Factories Rules.

All fire-fighting equipment and warning devices will be kept in perfect working conditions at all the times. It will be seen that all personnel are aware of the implications of environmental pollution and simple practices to avoid pollution.

8 DESCRIPTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT The baseline study for various environmental parameters viz. air, water, soil, noise has been

conducted for one season 1st Oct 2018 to 31st Dec 2018. The Study area map is depicted in

figure below-

The biodiversity of the study area in not rich as the area is converted into industrial land and

more than 40% area falls in Sea/coastal area. There is no threatened or endangered species

in study region. The socio-economic conditions in the study area shows almost pakka road

facility is available in all villages within 10 km radius. Almost all the villages have more than

50% people as non-workers. It indicates that the problem of unemployment can be solved by

providing proper training and education.

13 CONCLUSION Based on the EIA study conducted in Post Monsoon of 2018 (Oct. 2018 to Dec. 2018) and as per terms of reference given by SEAC, the following highlights emerge:

There will be minimal pollution potential on air, water and noise environment, which, with the implementation of the mitigation measures and EMP, can be reduced considerably.

The proposed project activities will have positive beneficial effect on the local population, economic output and other related facilities viz. employment, development of business, transportation etc.

Risk assessment including emergency response plan and DMP has been prepared to handle any sort of emergencies.

Looking to the overall project justification, process, pollution potential and pollution prevention measures /technologies installed by proponent, environmental management activities of proponent; the proposed project would be environmentally acceptable, in compliance with environmental legislation and standards.
