OU Career Services offers students the opportunity to gain academic credit for their internships or

co-ops through the class CAS 4630. In this class, students may acquire 1-6 hours of credit depending on

the number of hours they work during their internship. Each student who participates in the class works

very closely with an Assistant Director in the Career Services office and is required to complete journals,

hour logs, and an evaluation. Each student also writes a report about their internship experience and what

they have learned. The numbers below indicate the enrollment of students in this class.

gives students an overview of the job search process, including self-assessment of individual qualifications, inter-

ests and goals, resume development, letter writing, and the interviewing process. Also, the course allows students

to explore career opportunities beyond graduation, develop a strategy for the job search process, and improve job

search techniques.

Students highly benefit from CAS 4091 and enrollment for the class continues strong. The course is a one-credit

hour class that meets 3 times per week for a total of 6 weeks. Additionally, two sections of the course are offered

in both the fall and spring semesters. Below is a chart outlining course enrollment sInce the 2010-11 academic

year. The numbers represent the total enrollment for all sections of the class combined for each academic year.

help with job search, resume writing, interviewing skills,

etc.

Developed specialized job search workshops for A&S

majors and publicized and presented them throughout

the year.

Internship OffersInternship information is reported to Career Services by students self-reporting their information. Only 3 intern-

ships were reported to Career Services (only 1 student reported salary data)

Internships continue to be an invaluable tool for students to gain meaningful and relevant experience. Internships

are one of the main things employers look for on a student’s resume when reviewing candidates for a full-time

position. Companies have found that a well thought out internship program is the best tool for identifying future

leadership talent.

Internship OffersInternship information is reported to Career Services by students self-reporting their information. Students

reported internships with 62 different companies, 23 of these companies hired multiple interns at OU (they are

listed below). The average salary for reported internships was $28.90/hour (45% of students who reported and

internship reported salary data as well).

Employers continue to tell our office that internships are still one of the main things they look for on a student’s

resume when reviewing candidates for a full- time position. Companies have also found that a well thought out

internship program is the best tool for identifying future leadership talent.

on-campus interviews, which is why it is different than the total number of Engineering students registered with

Career Services. There were 131 companies that recruited College of Engineering students by conducting

on-campus interviews (those companies are listed on the following page).

In addition to the on-campus interviews, there were 5,987 positions (both full-time and internships) posted on the

OU Career Services offers students the opportunity to gain academic credit for their internships or

co-ops through the class CAS 4630. In this class, students may acquire 1-6 hours of credit depending on

the number of hours they work during their internship. Each student who participates in the class works

very closely with the Career Services Internship Coordinator, Mary Delaney and is required to complete

weekly materials including journals. Each student also writes a final report about their internship

experience and what they have learned. The numbers below indicate that the Gaylord College of

Journalism & Mass Communication students are taking advantage of the class for course credit.
