*QS World University Ranking 2017
LSE’s ground-breaking Executive MSc Social Business and
Entrepreneurship integrates social purpose and social impact
with the highest level of business and management training.
LSE is ranked #2 in the world for social science and management*, and there is no
better place in the world to study business and the global social, political and economic
context in which it operates.
This programme is aimed at students who wish to combine entrepreneurialism and
business rigour with a commitment to public benefit, and also at those who wish to
bring social purpose to business. Designed for future leaders, investors and
entrepreneurs across the private, public and non-profit sectors, the programme provides
a platform to launch your own socially-focused entrepreneurial venture, deliver social
impact alongside profit in an established company, or invest for social change.
Through a cutting edge-curriculum guided by expert LSE faculty and leading
practitioners from the diverse field of private action for public benefit, you will gain the
knowledge, skills and entrepreneurial mindset to develop your career in social business.
You will be equipped to bring social focus to your organisation, and to become more
effective and reflective in creating social impact.
We are launching this programme for the first intake of students in
September 2018.
The Executive MSc Social Business and Entrepreneurship puts social purpose at the heart of
executive business education, making this a compelling alternative to the MBA. The
programme provides students with analytical and practical skills to create and lead
organisations that have a double or triple bottom line: profit, social impact and environmental
sustainability.
We live in a time where there is a tremendousdesire to do good – but relatively little thatdisciplines that instinct or helps us learn how tomaximise its positive impact on society.
Professor Nava Ashraf, LSE Marshall Institute

In contrast to more traditional business programmes such as MBAs, our curriculum places social purpose
at the heart of business practice. You will explore the political and economic environments in which social
businesses operate. You will not simply learn new management and leadership skills, but will also achieve
a critical understanding of the theory which lies behind the practice.
The programme takes a multidisciplinary approach, using the latest insights from economics, philosophy,
behavioural economics and management. An altruistic entrepreneurship project runs for the duration of
the programme, bringing the academic insights from across the degree into an applied experience.
Peer-to-peer learning
Group projects and rigorous classroom debate will facilitate peer-to-peer learning within an outstanding
class of like-minded people from across the world.
