Volunteers: Our volunteer schedule is continued to be sent out weekly to staff. Our volunteer amount has increased as well as our volunteer opportunities. We continue to have an increase in our volunteers as expected for the summer. Our Community Service program has picked back up. Foster Program: In May we had 19 dogs in foster and 23 cats in foster. In June we had 3 dogs in foster and 19 cats in foster. Lauren and Troy attended Maddy’s Fund: Growing an existing Foster Program Apprenticeship. Maddie’s Fund paid for them to travel to Austin Pet’s Alive and learn all they could about Fostering. MAC Events:

Page 31: Executive Director Update - Tulsa SPCA · • Finance – Susan Rogers, Chair o Review and Approval: - May Financials ... o Pawsh Palaces now be led by SPCA staff will resume in Fall.

We are excited about the current MAC events and are still looking to increase. We have a great event at Fine Fermentations coming up at the end of May. We have attended Hot Street Party, YPB summer kickoff, Magic City Book Signing, Dog Days at the Botanical Gardens, and are currently working on several other opportunities as well. We have had success with the MAC events and are looking for ways to improve these even more. We need to promote them with social media a little more. Take pictures while we are at the event and post. Utilizing more opportunities to get out in the community. Special Events: We now have 4 nursing homes we will be visiting 6 times during the month. We will continue this outreach to focus on helping to raise awareness and need for the Tulsa SPCA. Morale and personal growth of the organization has been boosted since inviting multiple people from within the organization on our outings. Our employees and volunteers are really enjoying the back and forth of seeing these animals out and seeing the joy they bring to people. We will be adding OU Tulsa to our monthly list in August. We have included new Tulsa Botanical Garden, Book Signings, C.A.R.E Transports, ect to our monthly special events. Humane Education: No More Bullying! Program will be picking back up soon. Very much looking forward to this opportunity of educating children on the effects of bully and such. We are currently visiting schools and speaking about the Tulsa SPCA and what we do multiple times a month. We currently are reaching out to Summer Programs while schools are out. Clear the Shelters: Preparations have begun for Clear the Shelters. We currently have 23 shelters participating. Channel 2 and the woodland hills mall are working with us. Currently drawing up two plans—one if the clinic is open, one if it still isn’t.

May, a different month entirely. From rescues to transports to floods. To the clearing of many shelters and the transport of hundreds of dogs and cats, out of state, to the re-sheltering of displaced animals many owners were unable to care for during efforts to re-home themselves. The process was a long and difficult one and may take months to stabilize. The spca and other rescue/shelters worked, tirelessly, to care for all these animals and will continue that work to the end of this road. All spca personnel were involved in early morning loading and shipping and late night care, feeding and housing. No need to name each supervisor and staffer since all shared responsibility of care. I’m happy to have been a part of these efforts… The food assistance program received a sizable donation from Southern Agriculture, raising the food supply on hand and making more available for re-donation. This, along with public support of donated food, much of it for the displaced flood animals, has provided us with extra amounts of supplies for several months. The changing seasons bring about different types of situations for field investigations. Winter is cold and the need for insulated shelters is primary. In summer other things happen. Keeping animals cool and hydrated now becomes the most important effort in the field. So far I’ve responded to dogs locked in closed cars and animals without water. The pet owners remain at the heart of these cruelty issues and I always find new, negligent owners each season that I never knew where there before. The beat goes on…

Field cases for June were all handled without having to re-check as many as usual. Contact with owners allows some measure of success on the initial visit. Fifty three (53) of these owners were available and were advised of the reason for my visit. Compliance was high. The hot weather zeroed in on our area and caused a spike in the delivery of state approved water proof shelters. In total, seven doghouses were donated and set by the spca for the animals in need of cover. Unfortunately, I’ve already found several animals that were unable to survive for lack of water and the shelter. They all seem to be at abandoned houses, or tied somewhere, left on their own by negligent owners. That would contribute to the large number of cases, reported as negligence, on Junes report. Seventy (70) field cases were worked for June which is an indicator for the rest of the summer season. Normally the numbers are less in the spring and early summer but that isn’t the case so far this year. One hundred forty four (144) complaints have been answered in May and June alone. Weather always dictates the activity in the field. The food assistance program continues in high gear. Through half of this year we have assisted one hundred fifty eight (158) homes and provided food for four hundred forty one (441) dogs and one hundred sixty seven (167) cats,….a total of six hundred eight (608) animals that have been assisted with food. These numbers indicate the strong need for continued donations to the spca from outside sources. Southern Agriculture and

Walmart have helped but the contributions we make to the public clearly show the need we have. Presently I have on hand enough food in storage to finish the summer and possibly into the fall. I really want to say what a great job I think Lauren Holder is doing with intakes and transports of so many dogs and cats. Her networking has made it possible to retrieve more animals and to know that, in addition to adoptions, the transports out of state will find homes for these animals and provide them with the life they deserve.

Working with Jen. The timing pends on any other needs or delays with the new building. Major donor, past board, present board, donors, adopters, media, public officials, public servants/first responders, public ticketed evet, shelters/rescues, local vets.

One-on-one Due to Bingo Bash preparations there has been a delay with my board one on ones. Resuming July 25.

Did meet with volunteer/potential donor Darla Vanskike in June/July and confirmed over $100+ worth of goods for Bingo Bash– In addition, she donated 5 nights at Big Cedar Lodge – we used this as a live auction and received $1,200 from it. She intends to donate towards Trivia Night as well, and also attend.

I am doing a demo of Raiser Edge NXT, but financially I don’t think it is worth it – Plus, we’ve had a pretty negative experience with Blackbaud. Currently speaking to Bloomerang, Kindful, and Neon – will be scheduling demos and receiving quotes soon. I am currently working to reconcile eTapestry reports to coincide with the June 2019 financials. Working with Susan to verify that coding is done accurately and are reflected correctly with eTapestry and QuickBooks. With staff changes and Penny resigning – I am now doing all thank you letters for monetary and in-kind contributions.

I am chairing, with Jen Bladen co-chairing, the PAWsh Palaces 2019 event. The backend of this project will roll out August 1, and the dog houses/cat condos/animal furniture will be displayed from October 26 – December 1. Our plan is to have 1 house at each of the 7 Southern Agriculture stores. We have removed the school partnerships from the event, school mentoring for architects will be optional. We anticipate that the expenses for this project will be significantly less than last year. 44 architecture firms have been contacted about participating – As of Monday 7/22 we have 1 confirmed participant, and 4 tentative ‘yes’ participants. 3 have declined. There was a lot of interest from several of the individuals that I spoke to.
