Executive Council Elections 2017-2018 If you are hoping to make a difference for your fellow students in the Faculty of Science, this is your chance. There are 10 elected positions available, each of which will give you a unique opportunity to contribute to the student experience. The timeline for the executive elections will be as follows: Nomination Period: TBD Campaign Period: TBD Voting Period: TBD Nomination forms will be available at the SSA office (MRN 023) during the Nomination Period. Unless otherwise indicated, all elected terms begin May 1, 2017 and end April 30, 2018. Elected Executive Positions Available President Responsibilities: She is the chief spokesperson of the SSA and the main liaison between the SSA and the Faculty of Science. She oversees all projects and operations, delegates tasks, serves as the chairperson of SSA meetings and ensures the smooth functioning of the Association Council. She also serves as chair of the Elections Committee, Constitution Committee and Sponsorship Committee and sits on the Faculty’s Curriculum Council and Faculty Council and the SFUO Presidents’ Round Table. Vice-President of Academics Vice-President of Finances Requirements: 19 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 3rd year or above; bilingual; served 2 terms on council (1 term as an executive) OR served 3 terms on council (1 term as a summer executive). Responsibilities: She oversees the criteria and distribution of SSA scholarships, plans scholastic events during the academic year and represents the student voice in program matters. Responsibilities: She oversees the responsible stewardship of SSA funds and ensures that all financial activities are properly managed. She is responsible for designing the annual budget, preparing for regular audits and serves as the SSA treasurer. She also sits on the SFUO Money Round Table. Requirements: 18 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above; served 1 term on council.

Executive Council Elections 2017-2018 If you are hoping to make a difference for your fellow students in the Faculty of Science, this is your chance. There are 10 elected positions available, each of which will give you a unique opportunity to contribute to the student experience.

Initiatives

Responsibilities: She is responsible for the maintenance of the website and the management of SSA resources and facilities, including room bookings. She ensures the smooth functioning of the SSA’s electronic and physical systems. She also oversees the creation and execution of all SSA services and serves as the chair of the Services Committee. Requirements: 18 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above. Responsibilities: She is the main organizer for SSA events and coordinates with the Association Council to ensure the execution of all social activities. She directs the 101 Week project during the summer and organizes social events during the academic year. She also serves as chair of the Formal Committee and sits on the SFUO Social Round Table. Requirements: 19 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above. Responsibilities: She is the creative director of all SSA media and promotional material. She is responsible for ensuring student-run events are well promoted and attended. She also controls the SSA's social media platforms, serves as a secretary of the SSA and sits on the SFUO Communications Round Table. Requirements: 18 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above Responsibilities: She is responsible for the upkeep of SSA records and enforcing the SSA’s bilingualism policies. She represents the Faculty's French and English memberships and is responsible for promoting their interests. She also serves as a secretary of the SSA and sits on the SFUO Communications Round Table. Requirements: 18 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above; bilingual. Responsibilities: She is responsible for communicating with other faculties, universities and the SSA clubs. She books external speakers and plans all inter-university events. She also serves as chair of the Clubs Committee and the SSA's liaison with the SFUO Board of Administration. Requirements: 18 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above; bilingual. Responsibilities: She is responsible for the SSA’s philanthropic and charity initiatives. She directs the annual Shinerama campaign as well as other campaigns during the year such as Relay for Life and Movember. She also sits on the SFUO Philanthropic Round Table. Requirements: 19 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; full-time Science student entering 2nd year or above

Other Executive Positions

Senator Responsibilities: She represents the student voice to the University of Ottawa Senate, the highest governing body for deciding educational and academic policies. She serves as the liaison between the Senate and the SSA.

Requirements: Full-time Science student. Position is elected during the SFUO General Elections in February.

Senior Advisor Responsibilities: She advises the Association Council on all matters, including

procedures and governance.

Requirements: 19 years old; Canadian citizen or permanent resident; served 2 terms on council (1 term as an executive). Position is acclaimed by the incumbent president. Responsibilities: She is responsible for working in conjunction with the VP Social to coordinate events, including 101 Week, by setting up venues, acquiring supplies, transporting equipment and overseeing all technical aspects. She is responsible for the maintenance of the SSA’s physical resources and storage facilities. She manages the ordering, pricing, sales and upkeep of the merchandise and is responsible for room bookings. Requirements: 18 years old; registered Science student. Position is filled by application in April. Responsibilities: She is responsible for working in conjunction with the VP Social to coordinate 101 Week by setting up venues, acquiring supplies, transporting equipment and overseeing all technical aspects. She is responsible for the maintenance of the SSA’s physical resources and storage facilities. Term ends in September. Requirements: 18 years old; registered Science student. Position is filled by application in April. Responsibilities: She is responsible for working on conjunction with the VP Social to recruit, select, train, manage and coordinate 101 Week Guides during the summer and 101 Week. Term ends in September. Requirements: 18 years old; registered Science student. Position is filled by application in April. Responsibilities: She is responsible for working in conjunction with the VP Philanthropic to plan, promote and execute events and initiatives and manage volunteers in order to carry out a successful Shinerama campaign during the summer. Term ends in September. Requirements: 18 years old; registered Science student. Position is filled by application in April.
