Teachers perspective

It is a great opportunity for both Swedish and international students to

study and learn together having different experiences and cultures.

It is interesting to compare the medical education in different countries.

The language can be a barrier giving lectures, seminars and clinical

tutoring since most teachers do not have English as their mother

tongue.

It is especially difficult in the clinical setting since the parents and

patients have Swedish as their native language.

It is more challenging and it takes more time to teach in English.

Difficult to speak English in clinical meetings, patient security

A challenge with students having different levels of competence.

Students perspective - Advantages

A friendly environment to learn in.

Small groups mixed with local students helped alot to feel integrated.

The course was very practical compared to courses back home. It was

fantastic to be ‘responsible’ for patient and family.

Most of us come from hierarchical medical cultures. Great to be able to

speak to our teachers and professors. Something we wish to have back

home.

Students perspective - Challenges

Int students have less direct contact with some teachers who would talk

through the Swedish students

Language barrier in the clinical setting.

To learn local protocols and local vaccination programmes to pass the

Swedish examination.

The examinations are totally different compared to ours.

Exchanging experiences and knowledge across the borders strengthens both the individual student but also the university
