As in the past, the fall issue of the "Excellence in Our Schools" newsletter features our new faculty and staff members. The diversity of their ex-

periences will benefit our students and schools as they join our excellent core of educators and support staff. I know you will join me in welcom-

ing them to our schools.

As I write this message, many of our students, staff, and families are recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. Please know

that you are in our thoughts as the school community tries to restore a sense of normalcy for our students. Let's hope for brighter days ahead as

we enter the holiday season with a renewed sense of appreciation for our blessings. Thank you for your ongoing support of the Hanover Town-

ship Public Schools.

Eighth graders enjoy some paddle boating during their trip to Frogbridge in June 2012.

Teachers from six schools participating in the NASA Explorer Schools project have been selected for School Recognition. In April 2013, three teachers from each school will travel to NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston to conduct experiments in microgravity aboard the agency’s reduced gravity aircraft. Mountview Road School is the only school from New Jersey, and the three teachers who were selected are Kerry Brennan, Michelle Marks, and Drew Burns. During the school year, they will prepare for this unique opportunity by conducting experiments with their students in the class-room, and reporting results back to NASA.

The Honors Band, comprised of select 5th grade band students from Bee Meadow, Mountview Road, and Salem Drive schools as well as select 6th grade students from Memorial, perform at the Rockaway Mall as part of Morris County's "Pride In Our Schools" Week in April 2012.

Student and Staff Activities, Accomplishments and Recognitions

During Red Ribbon Week, Salem Drive School students wore jerseys in an effort to "Team Up Against Drugs" and showed that they were united in making healthy and safe choices. Mr. Camean, principal, and Mrs. Jacobson, guidance counselor, are pictured here with some of the students.
