Love in my perspective(Definition Essay)
Love is known to be a vague emotion commonly depicted as an individual feels some kind of
bliss with a person. Its meaning has now become shallow through changes in society, like courtship in a
span of weeks and easy acceptance of infatuation. Although, I have a different view on love: love is
comfortable, it has no preferences to follow, and it is a mature mutual response.
Love is comfortable. It lets people show openness between them because they trust one
another. As I looked for the term kilig, it triggers a certain stimuli that allows a person to make oneself
happy. Although it is not found in the dictionary, the Filipino term is mistaken as a fatalistic sign of love.
Moreover, this is not love because it indicates uneasiness and instability whenever an individual is nearthe object of affection. However, having the company of each other with comfort is genuine love. It
happens mutually because there is trust in between; that is why it is never jealous.
Love has no preferences to follow. Most people have standards which limit themselves from
meeting people they might love. Falling in love, Love at first sight, girlfriend material and wife
material are some of the flaws of societys view on love and society itself. Love is not mediocre nor
superficial; it is not about being with a person that recognizes only certain aspects of ones well-being
such as personality, looks and wealth. If it is so, would you still love the person when those standards
you choose to follow are not in them anymore? That is why love also tests loyalty. Counting months
does not strengthen love but fear.
Love is a mature mutual response. A persons affections with one another coexists with the
manner of respect and intellects. One cannot actually proclaim they are in love with someone because
of the idea of being with them. It is not about satisfying ones teenage hormones or human desires. It
needs a developed perspective concerning philosophy, not some unstable feelings of the nave. When
they become mature enough, love establishes mutual understanding, and later on affection and
sincerity. Thus, the harmony within them exists.
It is not enough when you love by following societys standard on love and relationship. Are
cupids desperate enough to let the couples easily fall for each other instead of letting them write their
own romance? One must truly love another by showing comfort, trust, open mindedness, and maturity.

Composition vs. Performance(Comparison and Contrast Essay)
Music dedicates itself to composition and performance. Each is essential to the development
and the conservation of music. Composition is the harmonic and melodic invention while performance
applies the said invention to action.
Composition is the harmonic and melodic invention of music. It is the outcome of what the
musician created in an individual's mind; it is not necessarily thinking of a tune. Accordingly, it is about
how to manipulate elements of music in order. Harmonization organizes the vertical sound while
melodic successions establish the horizontal sound; the application of rhythmic patterns molds them
into a melodic shape.
On the other hand, performance is the harmonic and melodic application of music. Devoted to
amplify the product of the composer, it is not just done by simply playing, but also factored by
interpretation and dexterity. It takes five to seven hours of daily practice in order to master given
instrument. Music Performance communicates with the audience while composition communicates with
the performer. It is a way of proclaiming the universal language and connectivity with people.
Although composers are renowned to excel in music literacy, they ought to need players of their
piece in order to reach a certain goal for their composition. Whereas, performers tend to stick on how to
play pieces, often forgetting how to analyze the piece itself.
The opposing idea of their advantages and disadvantages has made a concept that these twoare complements. Composers are spotlights while performers are the ones under it to shine. Composer
formulate recipes while performers are cooks.

Pinoy Pride or Sorry Api Mentality?(Causes and Effects)
We Filipinos have always been a little too proud of our heritage. Whenever a Filipino stands out
in an international competition, we celebrate, sometimes going overboard with the celebration. For
instance, a win from Manny Pacquiao over some Mexican boxer will cause an explosion in the internet,
cheering for Pacman, and jeer on the poor Latino he beat earlier with racial slurs. This may be what our
nation calls Pinoy Pride. However, this is no excuse to be offensive. This is a phenomenon Filipinos are
known for, the api or underdog mentalitythe feeling that everyone else is on to us.
This attitude is believed to have stemmed from the three-hundred-and-thirty-three-year
Spanish colonization. Back then, us Filipinos were conditioned by our captors as the Indios or by ourcolonizers Inferior Race; that we can never surpass the foreigners because we are what we are: born
from this country, by native parents. Even after the Spanish left, this feeling of inferiority is still evident,
like how Filipinos show hospitality to our guests.
Since then, it has been a constant struggle for us Filipinos to prove our worth to foreigners: to
those who deemed us inferior. Filipinos claim pride as if we always have something to prove, that in
each instance of glory a fellow Filipino claims overseas most people in the country cheers. Thats why,
consequently, each time a Filipino is criticized or jeered, we feel bullied, and are compelled to gang up
on those who wronged us.
Because of this gang mentality, a lot of international communities are avoiding forums, online
chat, and even MMO games because of the presence of Filipinos. Its also worth noting that to Filipinos,
making jokes about a foreigner is okay and laugh-worthy, but a foreigner making a joke about Filipinos
can earn him a persona-non-grata (funny how senators intervene with practical jokes).
Are we Filipinos really in need of self-reassurance that were not an inferior race? In the end,
this Api mentality causes us to api others.

How to Compose with Serial Technique(Process Description Essay)
Serial Technique is an atonal compositional device where the chromatic scale, also known as the
twelve-tone scale, is used. Every note is treated equally; thus, no certain note is centered. Matrix, a
12x12 table of notes, is a reference of the technique. It features the original series, inversion,
transposition of original series and inversion, retrograde and retrograde inversion. It is a procedure in
which the series of tones are used as a source for the development of melodic lines and of
harmonization.
First, devise a horizontal row of chromatic scale with various orders of notes. Do not repeat any
note since they should be distributed equally. The order of notes depend on the composer. One coulddecide if the intervals of distribution are in fourths, borrowing the concept of Quartal harmony; in which
the intervals are primarily small; or in which more angular intervals are included. When the row is
finished, it is now to be referred as original series.
Second, write the inversion of the original series vertically. Get each interval of two notes in
the original series. Give the second note of the inversion row the referred interval with the first note.
For example, E G is a minor third of an original series. If it is so, the given note under E would be C#
since E C# is the inverted version of the said interval. Continuing the pattern until the twelfth note of
the first row of the inversion row, the row is finished. In order to fill up the whole matrix, simply
transpose the original series by each note of the inversion row.
Finally, write the piece referring to the matrix. Distribute different complete tone rows with any
rhythmic patterns. One can use a row vertically either from the bottom, to be known as retrograde
inversion, or from the top, to be referred as inversion; and horizontally, either from the left, to be called
as retrograde, or from the right, to be known as original series. The musical effect of any tone row
depends almost entirely upon the tempo, dynamics, rhythm, and orchestration associated with it.
The Serial Technique may be tricky at first. But when it is usually applied, it exercises the
musician in the awareness of intervals, the analyzing of melodic movements, the importance of
rhythmic patterns, and the application of compositional devices. It tickles the mind of musicians despite
its unusual sound.

Musical Scales(Classification and Division)
Scales are arrangement of notes in ascending, raising every pitch each, and descending order,
decreasing every pitch each; they are pattern of pitches. There are scales that imposes consonance,
simply to please the ear; dissonance, in order to deviate, and equality, to challenge the norm.
The most consonant is the diatonic scale. It is the most used scale in music. It consists of seven
whole and half tones following a pattern depending on the given kind. The most commonly used
diatonic scale is the major scale featuring the most decent sound. The minor scale, another diatonic
scale, contrasts the major scale either relatively sharing the same key signature but of different tonal
center, or in parallel manner which they share the same tonal center but with different key. Also, theminor scale can be harmonic, by raising the seventh note of the scale; or melodic by raising the sixth and
seventh note of the scale in ascending and returns to their natural notes in descending.
Synthetic scales are known to be peculiar. From the name itself, they are vast because each one
is different. They are composed by means of combining or simply inventing scales. Since they usually
give a dissonant sound, they are almost associated with atonal theory and polytonality. Those are often
depicted as dissonant.
There are scales that pleases equality such as the chromatic scale and the whole tone scale.
Chromatic scale is a series of all the notes existing. The scale consists of twelve notes proceeding by half
equal steps. The whole tone scale consists of six equally whole tones. These scale are used commonly in
atonal theory but it is sometimes applied in some tonal pieces as a passing motif.
Scales embodies the melody. Melody is an essential element of music; it is the striking part of a
composition so it needs attention. The scale is important than it seems. Learning them can establish the
musicality, interpretation and intonation.
