• Your name, register number, class and question numbermust be written on the top-right hand corner of the front of each sheet of paper

• Only one piece of A3 size (297 mm x 420 mm) drawing paper will be provided.

• You must bring your own media (e.g., acrylic paint, paintbrushes, small container to fill water, rag, newspaper, palette, pencils,).

• ART RAP must appoint 2 people to bring hair dryers.

• You are required to hand in THREE pieces of preliminary studies (A3 size) together with final art piece

• Time yourself during the examination. Drying time must be within the examination duration

• Work to the full-size of the A3-size drawing paper. Entire surface of drawing paper should be used and in colour. Do not leave white background

CREATE AN ARTWORK ADAPTING FROM BOTH

POST-IMPRESSIONIST AND CUBIST’S PAINTINGS. (YOU ARE NOT

ALLOWED TO USE ‘THE SCREAM’ AND ‘STARRY NIGHT’).

POST-IMPRESSIONISTS USE VIVID COLOURS, THICK APPLICATION OF PAINT, DISTINCTIVE BRUSH STROKES. THEY USE REAL-LIFE SUBJECT MATTER, AND OFTEN EMPHASIZE GEOMETRIC FORMS AND DISTORT FORM FOR EXPRESSIVE EFFECT.THEY USE UNNATURAL OR ARBITRARY COLOURS (NOT REALISTIC COLOURS OF THE OBJECT).

CUBISM IS USING OBJECTS THAT ARE BROKEN UP, ANALYZED, AND RE-ASSEMBLED IN AN ABSTRACTED FORM.

Preliminary studies

• Preliminary studies are to be done on A3 size Drawing paper

• Each Preliminary study paper need to have at least 2 drawings and 1 printed Original Artwork

• Give short explanation of why you choose to draw that image

Think of a personal experience which is normal or ritualistic in your life. Take this experience and turn it into a grotesque scene by adding the Elements of the Grotesque.

You can make your scene as funny, as scary, as beautiful, as ugly, or as weird as you want. It can be SURREAL, ABSTRACT OR REALISTIC. It can be LANDSCAPE, STILL LIFE, or PORTRAITURE.

USE YOUR PERSONAL EXPERIENCES AND IMAGINATION TO COMPOSE THE ARTWORK. KEEP IN MIND THAT YOU MUST USE AT LEAST ONE OF THE FIVE ELEMENTS OF THE GROTESQUE, BUT FEEL FREE TO USE MORE.
