WINTER SCHEDULE
Exalting Jesus Christ!
Today’s Message:
The Birth Announcement
A Message from Luke 2:8-12
Speaker: Rev. Stan Sanger
WELCOME ON THIS 3rd
SUNDAY IN ADVENT
As we celebrate the Advent or “coming” of Jesus Christ, on this
third Sunday of Advent we light the third candle of the Advent Wreath
and we think about Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called
Christ (Matthew 1:16).
Christ has offered us redemption from our sins. The church is His primary channel of taking this
Gospel or “good news” of salvation to the world.
We are a part of The Christian and Missionary Alliance, an expression
of Christ’s church world-wide. The Lord is working through Alliance
missions to minister to people in situations that have been featured in
the international news in 2015:
Human needs have been met among Syrian and Ukrainian
refuges.
Medical care has been given in Ebola-ravaged West African
countries.
Gospel ministry has taken place among ISIS-threatened people of
northern Iraq.
Jesus, who is called Christ, is touching lives through the ministry of Cherry Tree Alliance Church as
we partner with The Alliance through giving to The Great Commission Fund. In this way, we share the
Advent or “coming” of Jesus Christ with people in need around
the world.

Please pray for Jose & Melanie Chinchilla (and children Josiah & Ian), Alliance missionaries serving in Germany. They are currently in the United States on their home assignment & plan to return to Berlin in late spring of next year, where they have a special project they hope to begin. They write in their online newsletter: “As we have shared in person with many of you, God is calling us to start a multi-cultural church planting network in Berlin,
beginning with a German-Spanish multicultural congregation. This is truly a God-sized vision, we have prayed over it and are so excited to see how God
is already opening doors, networking, and providing!” Please join them in praying for this wonderful new ministry! Please also keep them in
your prayers as they carry out their very busy travel schedule during their home assignment.
Missionary of the Week
“Hark now hear the angels sing, a king is born today… And man will live forever more because of Christmas Day!”
(lyrics from Mary’s Boy Child)
Please take time today and throughout this holiday season to praise the Lord for the miraculous reason that we celebrate: unto us, a Savior was born! “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you;
he is the Messiah, the Lord.” (Luke 2:11)
Prayer of the Day

Christmas Card Exchange Are you planning to send Christmas cards to your friends
who attend our church? If so, please feel free to save a few stamps by dropping off your cards for your church friends in the plastic boxes on the table in the foyer. Please sort your
cards by the first letter of the recipients’ last names and place them in the appropriate folders in the boxes. Please
be sure that your recipients attend services here regularly as you may wish to mail cards to friends who might not be here in time to pick up their cards for the holidays. Also, please be sure to check the boxes
yourself periodically to see if there are any cards waiting for you!

Our Faith Promise Goal for 2016 We join hands with C&MA missionaries by giving to the Great Commission Fund. We indicate our
commitment by completing a Faith Promise Card. As we total our Faith Promise commitments,
we discover what we are trusting the Lord will do through us as a congregation over the next year to support C&MA missionaries. So far
$10,611 of Faith Promise commitments have been made for 2016. Extra Faith Promise Cards are available on the information table in the
foyer. If you choose to complete one, please turn it in to the church office before the end of the year. Thank you!

January. If you are interested, please sign up on the church bulletin board so we will know how many books to order. Please see
Cindy Trimmer with any questions. We hope to see you there!
