EVSSAR NEWSLETTER 2016, No 2
Transcript of EVSSAR NEWSLETTER 2016, No 2
A lot has happened since
the last Newsletter was
sent out, and we would
like to inform you about all
our activities and give an
overview of upcoming
events.
Presently, EVSSAR has
144 European members
and 8 from overseas - and
the numbers are increas-
ing. EVSSAR is the largest
Society for Small Animal
Reproduction in Europe
and unique in that it brings
together scientists and
clinical practitioners. To
support the work of EVS-
SAR means to support
continuing education of
veterinary students, as
well as of veterinarians,
and to encourage ex-
change and development
of knowledge, both for
clinical practise and scien-
tific research in small
animal reproduction.
Among the advantages of
being an EVSSAR member
is that you have access to
sites with restricted infor-
mation including a selec-
tion of recent scientific
publications, the EVSSAR
online library. This selec-
tion has been much appre-
ciated by members wish-
ing to become updated
with the latest findings.
New publications are se-
lected regularly for display
on the website. Another
important advantage is
that as a member of EVS-
SAR you can be registered
on the Reprovet map. The
Reprovet map is an easy
way to locate reproduction
specialists, and for you to
present your specialist
skills and services availa-
ble worldwide. The list is
searchable for everyone/
non-EVSSAR members.
EVSSAR strives to promote
young scientists/PhD stu-
dents and residents in
small animal reproduction.
For this purpose, EVSSAR
will continue to support
research project by EVS-
SAR research grants. EVS-
SAR also offers course
scholarships to cover part
of the our reproduction
course fee. A novel feature
is the “Best new idea”
competition for how to
further develop our Society
in the future and to in-
crease involvement of
future specialists in our
Society. It is important to
encourage collaboration
and exchange between
younger researchers/PhD
students, ECAR residents
and more experienced
scientists and clinicians.
EVSSAR will also organize
workshops, in collabora-
tion with local course mas-
ters about certain topics
and specialist training.
Suggestions for possible
workshops topics are wel-
come!
The EVSSAR website is
undergoing a thorough
update and reconstruc-
tion, to make it more user-
friendly and provide even
more valuable information.
You can also join EVSSAR
on Facebook Grass. Let us
know if you have any ideas
or suggestions for im-
provements.
EVSSAR organizes annual
congresses and meetings
that are the largest veteri-
nary reproduction confer-
ences in Europe! It is im-
portant for EVSSAR to
promote and distribute the
latest research findings
and clinical advance-
ments. Therefore we will
provide our members with
the Proceedings from
EVSSAR congresses and
courses, on a member-
restricted part of the web-
site. For the same pur-
pose, EVSSAR decided a
few years ago to publish
invited speaker manu-
scripts and selected ex-
tended abstracts in a Sup-
plement of the Journal
Reproduction of Domestic
Animals (RDA). The RDA
collaboration has been
very positive, and we plan
to have an online Supple-
ment publication also from
the 2017 EVSSAR con-
gress in Vienna.
To keep going on through
excellence, we plan to be
ISO 9001 certified in the
near future. After certifica-
tion the participants of all
EVSSAR events will be
able to get ECTS points.
As you can see, much is
going on! For more infor-
mation — ree further on in
this newsletter!
We believe that becoming
a member of EVSSAR is an
excellent way to gain fur-
ther knowledge of small
animal reproduction.
Thank you for being a
member of our Society!
Do not hesitate to access
the website (http://
www.evssar.org/) or con-
tact us directly for further
information or clarifica-
tions.
With best regards,
Ragnvi Hagman
President EVSSAR
and the EVSSAR Board

EVSSAR congresses
The 18th EVSSAR congress
Small Animal Reproduction Part I , 2017
The Best ECAR resident short communication award was presented to Kathrine
Thejll Kirchhoff, Denmark, and the Pat Concannon Award to Tricia Rowlison, USA.
Congratulations to both winners, who both won a free EVSSAR congress registra-
tion!
For the congress Proceedings visit the EVSSAR website. A RDA Supplement is in
production and will soon be available for all congress participants.
The Proceedings book from the 18th EVSSAR congress in Hannover, Germany, with excellent contributions from invited speak-
ers, is available online:
http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/rda.2016.51.issue-S1/issuetoc.
The 19th EVSSAR congress
The 19th EVSSAR Congress was orga-
nized together with the 8th International
Symposium on Canine and Feline Repro-
duction (ISCFR) in Paris, France. The
congress attracted 283 participants
from Europe, Russia, USA, and Asia and
was a great event full of scientific news
and exchange of the latest knowledge.
Due to the tradition of ISCFR this con-
gress had a more scientific focus than
pure EVSSAR congresses. In addition, a
pre-congress day was organized by EVS-
SAR with clinical workshops which at-
tracted more than 100 participants.
The congress and workshops were very
well organized by the Local organizing
committee led by Associate Professor
Alain Fontbonne and Dr. Karine Rey-
naud, in collaboration with the EVSSAR
Board, the ISCFR international organiz-
ing committee and all other committees
involved.
New: EVSSAR members will have
access to abstracts from the latest
EVSSAR congress online, to the
restricted part of our website
(www.evssar.org/library/).
The abstracts will be available
approximately 4 months after each
congress.
We cordially invite all
members to participate in
the upcoming course in
2017 and to spread infor-
mation about the course
to those who might be
interested!
