Together we´ve travelled the world for many years constantly searching for perfect trails and the best powder descents. We have discovered many fantastic spots and perfect runs even in the most remote locations on this planet.

This is how we started developing and producing equipment that met our requirements, initially only for ourselves and our friends.

The result was a range of high-quality, sophisticated products with refined details and clever features – that looked good as well. What we had not expected was that increasing number of peoplewant our gear, and when the first shop approached us with a larger order, the idea of founding our own company was born.

In 2008, we worked up the courageto establish EVOC.

Since then a lot has changed for us, but then again very little has changed. We continue to focus on uncompromising quality, functionality and durability to set the standard in

terms of design, comfort and safety. We still travel the world as much as we can with our sports equipment – meanwhile more and more often with our business gear as well, though. In doing so, we test all our products ourselves and we invest a great deal of time and energy in optimizing our solutions down to the smallest details.

We communicate our passion for sports and for what we do in every product. That’s why EVOC products are always a bit more than just pieces of equipment.

When I heard our photographer Richard Walch saying that to me on the phone, I thought we would go to Canada, Alaska or New Zealand. But then I was surprised to find out that our final destination would be: Iceland! We had no idea of what to expect when we boarded our boat, the “Aurora”, in Isafjödur at the end of March to cruise off in search of real adventure.We checked out the surrounding mountain tops from our floating home base – they all looked manageable, and the hikes seemed rather short.

We walked over seaweed past an old whaling base towards the mountains, and it quickly became clear that this place was above all white and quiet… When we hiked upwards we immediately realised that the lines and shoots were not only steeper than we had expected but that they were almost vertical. Our drops and runs were rewarded with some signature Iceland corn snow and the unbeatable feeling of finishing a line at the sea shore. There is only one word to describe it: FANTASTIC!

After some world-class runs we went back on land as fast as we could. A speedboat taxi took us to the harbour, from where we took off towards Ski Valley. Myriads of bays later, we got off the boat and straight onto the helicopter the next morning to be able to take advantage

of the good weather conditions. Iceland always throws up surprises, especially when it comes to the weather. This time of the year usually sees a high number of sunshine hours, so we made our mark in the snow and enjoyed our sprays in the mystical snow scenery until seven thirty at night.

Riding Mount Kerling was the finale to our trip. The skidoo shuttle ride was a test of courage in itself. The drivers gave it their all, and our courage was rewarded by a final corn snow run in brilliant, bright sunshine.For us, Iceland had become a definite Niceland!

To prove compliance with these standards, a tapered, 5 kg test weight drops onto the protector from 1 metre height. To meet the requirements, the generated impact force of the steel body of 150 – 180 kN must be slowed down to an average residual force of a maximum of 18 kN. Reaching a residual force of only 9,75 kN, the EVOC LITESHIELD BACK PROTECTOR offers damping capabilities which are almost twice as effective as the standards require.

The typical shock absorption curve is relatively pointed for most protectors so the impact energy hits the body in a very direct manner. The EVOC LITESHIELD BACK PROTECTOR, however, offers a segmented layer construction to guarantee perfect damping. The absorption curve is very flat. The impact force is distributed onto a series of elements and thus, onto a larger area, which helps considerably reduce the direct impact onto the wearer’s body.

LITESHIELD CARRYING SYSTEM

The heart of the system is the extra-wide, ergonomically shaped 01 neoprene hip belt with Velcro fastening and large heavy-duty buckles, which transfers the main load to the hips, thereby positioning the pack optimally at the body’s centre of gravity. The ergonomically designed shoulder straps keep the backpack comfortably in place.

Proximity to the body is important for 02 back protectors, and this has been optimized for maximum possible ventilation by way of air mesh elements, EVA pads with ventilation holes and a large ventilation channel in the centre.

ere I was shooting with my colleagues from Legs Of Steel in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on a perfect blue bird day where fresh powder snow still lay on the

ground. We were filming at a somewhat smaller face. Below that, Thomas and I found a rock: It was like the perfect natural kicker. I did a flat 3 – it all went well from my point of view but I jumped out of the photographer’s frame so I had to do the same thing all over again. When I jumped the second time, everything worked out: the trick and the photography.

Whether it’s freeriding or performing tricks, you will probably never see me without my EVOC backpack. The best about it is that it fits so well that it never bothers me. Actually, the opposite holds true. I don’t feel good when I ride in the back country without my pack on my back.

NEUTRALITE CARRYING SYSTEM

Designed for ambitious to professional use, the new NEUTRALITE SYSTEM is a carrying system for high-capacity backpacks, which means that even heavier loads can be carried in a more balanced way and as comfortably as possible for a longer period of time. Back adaption and weight distribution are guaranteed by the shapeable stabilising element on the inside, which transfers the weight onto a wide, thickly padded hip belt (01) via segmented and strategically positioned pad-ding elements. In this way, the weight is

absorbed as neutrally as possible at the body’s centre of gravity. Exceptionally wide, well-padded, ergonomically shaped shoulder straps (02) with a deep cut-out around the neck keep the backpack in position at all times and prevent it from slipping and sliding even during high-performance activities. Practical cut-outs in the spinal region ensure unrestricted freedom of movement of the vertebrae, while preventing weight distribution onto the sensitive back area.

AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM

The AIR CIRCULATION SYSTEM is featured in all our PERFORMANCE line backpacks, because it guarantees perfect ventilation even during high-sweat and high-strain activities, and at the same time prevents the sensitive kidney area from cooling down too much.

Lateral cut-outs along the channel enable even more air to flow out. In addition, the padding along

the sides of the back has been reduced to further optimise air outflow.

However, the sensitive back area is protected against lateral wind thanks to the padding of the NEUTRALITE SYSTEM. Not only do the pads form the channel to facilitate vertical ventilation, they also protect the wearer from horizontal air inflow and cold kidneys.

Winter Fotoshoot Kleinwalsertal

his picture was taken late in the season on Walmedinger Horn in Kleinwalsertal, Austria. A great deal of powder snow had fallen once again, and we took the

opportunity to test our products and shoot a few photos. The risk of an avalanche was rather low that day, so we decided to do a few warm-up runs on the slopes and then switch to the back country to try a few lines that you should ride only when the snow conditions are safe.

Here you can see me doing one of the first lines down a slope with beautiful curved contours and a few clumps of trees, enjoying the day and the spray. As it wasn’t clear that morning what the day would have in store for us, I decided to take a backpack solution with avalanche airbag, in short: the ABS® Vario-Line together with our EVOC ZIP-ON ABS PRO TEAM with 20 l capacity. The airbag provided additional safety in the unlikely event of an avalanche, while our backpack top attachment offered the usual convenient packing option with enough storage space for all my mountain equipment. No reorganisation needed. I knew immediately where everything was in the backpack, and I was able to access it conveniently and fast.

oming from Chamonix I had arrived in Kleinwalsertal the night before for a photo shoot with the guys from EVOC. Snow conditions had been quite disappointing in France

so my expectations were rather low when I hopped on the train. However, Austria greeted me with totally different scenery: snow covered mountain faces, bright sunshine, blue skies and despite all of this, very low avalanche risk. To cut a long story short: We were looking forward to a perfect photo shoot.

That particular day made it easy for us to find great backcountry faces and lines. Even shorter hikes were a guarantee for absolutely amazing powder runs. We took it easy in the beginning and focused on slopes with beautiful curved contours, launching massive sprays. I love drops and cliffs and was therefore really happy when I discovered a few rocks. This is where this beautiful picture was taken.

As an experienced freerider, I don’t only rely on my skills when I jump, though. To protect myself in a crash I always wear my EVOC FR PRO WOMEN. I’m not even aware of the fact that I’m wearing a back protector, and can concentrate entirely on my run, with confidence. And not only that, the backpack looks super stylish too.

THE MATERIALS USED TO MANUFACTURE OUR PRODUCTS ARE EXCLUSIVELY SELECTED OR DEVELOPED BY US:

We concentrate on polyamide (“Nylon”) for all our bags and backpacks, because it is the lightest, most durable and abrasion-resistant type of material available. We adapt the thread gauge and the coating of every fabric according to each product’s specific requirements. We use PU-coatings to gain maximum waterproofing – also a very wear-resistant and robust material that is not susceptible to temperature changes.

The demands for the perfect outer material of a backpack can be summed up in four characteristics: durable, abrasion resistant, water repellent and very light. This is exactly what our Nylon 210/D Ripstop offers. A double

PU-coating of the lightweight nylon base provides moisture protection and wear resist-ance. A micro texture of filaments segments the basic fabric into tiny squares to prevent rips – hence the name Ripstop.

This Nylon has slightly thicker threads which make it the perfect outer material for all backpacks and bags that require a higher

degree of abrasion resistance and durability without a lot of extra weight. The ideal material for our products.

For our waterproof backpack raincovers and safe pouches we employ this high end polyamide with PU coating.

Our most durable Nylon for the most exposed areas which are most subjected to stress. Its in-creased thread gauge (1680 Denier) makes it an

extremely abrasion and tear resistant material that improves durability in highly stressed areas (e.g. corners and edges) drastically.

Cordura® is a special, highly durable fabric made of polyamide (Nylon) the individual threads of which are first cut and then spun and woven again. This process creates an especially tear and abrasion resistant material which is ideal for

the highly stressed areas of our products, such as the bottom portions of bags and backpacks. The PU coating makes the surface moisture and dirt resistant.

A very durable fabric for high-abrasion areas, it is also tear-resistant and lightweight while absorbing almost no moisture. Combining

these characteristics, it’s the perfect material for high-stress pockets or backpack base constructions.

This three dimensionally structured fabric with variable thread sizes (P75D*30D) offers the optimal properties in ventilation and cushioning for the covers of paddings and shoulder straps.

Well known from water sports, neoprene also has ideal properties for high-end backpacks. Very strong and at the same time flexible over a wide temperature range, it works outstandingly

for our hip belts. The material additionally offers great temperature regulation and shock absorbing qualities.

A highly-developed foam which offers excellent support and damping properties despite its reduced weight. Atilon is our first choice in all product areas where protection and comfort play an important role.

Particularly tough and tear-resistant, water-proof material, which is transparent as an added bonus. Ideally suited for compartments in back-packs and bags that are exposed to high strain

while also providing an excellent overview, for instance when it comes to the small parts compartment for tools.

We make our top-quality hip belts from this: sturdy, flexible and particularly permeable to air for excellent breathability.

Tarpaulin, a strong, flexible and waterproof material is normally made of polyester coated with PVC, however, EVOC uses a woven polyamide fabric coated with EPO® on both sides which results in an advanced material

with environmental properties: free of PVC, extremely durable, very light, waterproof and insensitive to temperature changes.

Air Mesh is equipped with fine pores for excellent air circulation and does not absorb moisture. This makes it perfectly suited as a ventilating cover fabric for the back parts of our protector backpacks.

This fabric in honeycomb design combines flex-ibility with exceptional breathability. This makes it the ideal material for areas that are subject to the most intensive movement, such as the side

areas and underneath the arms, where there is a lot of heat and moisture to be dissipated.

Famous in the world of top-quality, functional cycling knitwear, Lycra Jersey as upper material provides perfect properties in terms of exceptional moisture management and breathability when it comes to the top

models of our protection vests. In this way, we’re combining the benefits of high-quality functional clothing with an innovative protector system – for premium protection and superior wearing comfort.

Polygiene is a special fabric treatment that incorporates silver ions and prevents the formation of microorganisms such as bacteria or fungi. This treatment eliminates odour build-up, reduces skin irritations and decreases the risk of fungal infection.

Polygiene is also environmentally friendly, as materials treated with Polygiene require less frequent washing, thereby increasing their lifespan.

We use this ultra-dense, viscoelastic foam as padding for neuralgic areas such as the shoulders, collar bones, chest and hips. The best thing about this is that special

perforation of the material in the shape of a cross means that it always adapts 100% to the body shape while providing additional ventilation.

Non Stick Velcro only adheres to its counterpart, which prevents it from sticking to other fabrics on contact. This reduces the damage to fabric through torn out fibres.

Our approved upper material for EVOC PROTECTION WEAR is a functional material that is commonly used for bicycle jerseys: it is

light, flexible, breathable and dries quickly – this makes it the first choice to provide a high degree of comfort.

The torso length is decisive to identify the correct backpack-/ vest size. The torso length is measured as the connection linie from top of the shoulder to the top of the pelvic bone.
