THE METER


In the metric system, the meter is the unit we use to measure distance, height, or length.

A meter is about the same width as your arms spread out wide.

A meter is used to measure medium sized things….like the height of a door.

& MILLIMETER


Centimeters and millimeters are used to measure small things like Tim’s hair.


A centimeter is made up of 10 millimeters. There are 100 centimeters in a meter.

What are some things that could be measured in centimeters?


A millimeter is the smallest unit of measure in the metric system. There are 10 millimeters in 1 centimeter and 1,000 millimeters in a meter.

THE KILOMETER


Kilometers are used to measure larger things like the distance to the beach.
