Cover pictureIn keeping with the new look front covers, we are featuring the Heath and Reach Parish Pump. Its history goes back to 1873 when on Monday 12th of May that year the ceremony of the laying of the principle stone of the clock tower took place which was in the course of being built. A local man, Mr Abraham was unanimously elected to perform the stone laying as it was this gentleman who had through his ‘untiring exertions’, as reported at the time had workd tirelessly in raising funds for the project. From his childhood, Mr Abraham’s desire was to see a good well of pure water, a pump and a suitable building over it to protect those people who came to use it and to incorporatea clock as a public timepiece. All of this he did for the love of his old comrades their friends and for his native village.*The E&v Magazine would like to thank Mr Dick Denton for the historical notes and also Michele Redwood-Green for her assistance in gathering the information.

Dear Readers,

Welcome to what is our Summer and early Autumn edition combined. The next issue to follow will be out later in October.

Meanwhile this ‘double issue’ will certainly keep you busy with the items we have gathered together. Once again my colleague Amanda has pulled more than a couple of rabbits out of the hat so to speak. Amongst all of the articles, we are especially delighted to feature the world famous Monte Carlo Rally winner from the 1960’s - the legendary Paddy Hopkirk. Paddy was in town helping to celebrate Baldwins Garage 1st anniversary in business(see page 33).

Also read about Paddy and his involvment with ‘SKIDZ Motor education for young people’ scheme on page 18 and then visit their website: skidz.org.uk.

So why the balloons? This issue of the E&v happens to be the 21st consecutive publication since launching in February 2012. No small feat but certainly an enjoyableand rewarding two and a half years meeting and speaking to so many wonderful people - advertisers, contributors and readers alike. Without whom all of this would not have been possible. Thank you.It just remains for me, on behalf of us all at the E&v to wish you all a safe and happy holiday whatever you have planned.

On an overcast day in early June a group of members, friends and guests of the Leighton Buzzard Canal Society, pictured below, enjoyed a canal trip to Stoke Bruerne and back.

Travelling on two beautifully restored traditional working canal boats: Stanton owned by Peter and Laura and Southern Cross owned by Rory, the boats departed close to Stowe Hill Marina. Heavy rain on the outward journey forced a shelter ‘inside’ for all but the most stalwart passengers, making the trip through Blisworth Tunnel an unforgettably dark and wet experience!

However the boats emerged from the tunnel to brilliant sunshine at Stoke Bruerne which set in for the rest of the day. Stoke Bruerne is an excellent destination whether by car or canal for a day out. A museum, places to eat and the constant stream of interesting canal traffic passing through, make it highly recommended however you arrive! A first class lunch in good company made for a good stopover.

Travelling home later, the sunshine and tranquility captured the magic of the canal for the whole party. What more relaxing way to spend a day?

Whether your interest is in canal boats, local history or perhaps wildlife on the canal banks the LBCS organises a programme of events throughout the year to suit all

tastes. The Society celebrates its 30th Anniversary this year and always welcomes new members or guests to its meetings.

If you would like to know more please contact John Toy on 01525 374498.

Leighton-Linslade Launch Day attracted a number of enthusiastic volunteers to assist with the weeding and clearing of flower beds along the busy Leston Road. Armed with wheelbarrows, forks, spades and secateurs and dressed in fashionable Hi-viz jackets, volunteers worked through the morning to rejuvenate areas that had been long neglected.

The beds were topped with soil improver kindly donated by a local business and will be planted with a variety of shrubs, again to be donated. A well earned cup of coffee and a cake awaited the workers.

Photograph shows rather chuffed volunteers standing with the enormous pile of vegetation that was cleared on the day.

Zen, our Dogs for the Disabled pup, is now 7 months old and still seems to be growing!

This month Zen has been on his holidays, he has stayed with one of Dogs for the Disabled temporary borders in Woburn Sands while we were away for 2 weeks.

He has still found time to visit the residents at Elm Lodge and make regular appearances in the town shops and supermarkets.

He was a popular star at the Leighton Carnival, with lots of people wanting to know about the charity but was upstaged by our mascot dog especially as the mascot didn’t bark!!!! Zen visited lots of the stalls and had his reactions put to the test by the Leighton Buzzard Community Support Team who put their sirens on right next to him and he didn’t bat at eyelid. He was also very

appreciative of the ice given to him by the Street Pastors as he was one hot dog.

Let’s hope be behaves as well at the Wing Carnival.

How Lucky!

Jay is sad. He sits

on his simple chair,

at his old black wooded

office table with only his

humdrum stacks of paperwork

for company. Unexpectedly a distinctive friend

gave him a ticket to the 100 word competition.

He looked at the prize £100,000 his jaw dropped

and he smiled so he ran home and he started

his story££. “Finished” Jay claimed his story was

astonishing so he was elated. He uploaded his

story and he was victorious. He stood promptly

and cheered. Collecting his money he skipped

home and immediately begun spoiling everyone

especially his enchanting wife.

We launched a short story writing competition with Brooklands School a few months ago and last week we were delighted to award the lucky winners their prizes. We had many entries and the panel of judges which consisted of E&v Editor Chris Green, E&v Editorial Coordinator Amanda Harrison, EGP Graphic Designer Julia Lond, author Tony Drury and his wife Judy and Cathy Wright of Agile Administration - Virtual Administration Services had a difficult task in picking the winners. Finally we did reach a decision though and the winning stories are printed here for you to enjoy!

We would also like to congratulate the runners up - Poppy Herbert, Daniel Koolman, Tegan Mortimer Nesbitt and the winner of the Creativity Award for a superb piece of writing Tilly Byrne.

The winners all received a goody bag of prizes and we would like to thank Epson UK, Lente Designs, Osborne Morris & Morgan, HEART UK, Impact and local author Tony Drury for joining us in donating some great prizes. Also a BIG thank you to Tony for giving up his time to come along to the assembly to present the prizes to the winners and read out the stories to the school! Thank you also to the pupils of Brooklands School for taking the time to enter the competition, as Tony said “You are all winners!”

Next issue we will be bringing you the work of some of the pupils at Leedon Lower School after we were invited in to run a couple of workshops during their end of year Shine Week.

Brooklands School competition produces some budding authors!

I didn’t really understand: it was all a blur. There were people rushing around me, saying you’re going to

be fine: I was terrified my heart was racing my head was

pounding. Suddenly an ice cold hand touched my bare skin: I turned my head to see my mother. Gently she said ‘I love you’, the world stopped, time flew past.I was carted into the operation room. She lost too much blood we couldn’t save her: sorry whispered the doctor in my mother’s ear.My mother dropped to the floor, tears running down her face, her world had ended.

The Troll Who Saved

Christmas

It was Boxing

Day. Everyone had

unwrapped gifts except £

the Troll. Trevor was a kind

troll, but lonely. He had large feet and huge

ears. Trevor lived secretly behind the rickety

shed at the end of Grandad’s garden. The

streets were crammed with tons of Christmas

wrapping paper and people were unhappy. But

this was good as Trevor’s favourite food was

wrapping paper. He was hungry £ he hadn’t

eaten all yea, except snack after children’s

birthdays. He gobbled up all the waste paper.

He demolished every piece in every street. The

streets were tidy. Everyone was happy. Trevor

saved Christmas.

Potato! There was once a potato called Chip, who lived in

the supermarket. ‘Please buy me’ Chip would

whisper to the customers. He desperately wanted to be a real

chip and bring energy to the person who would eat him. One day disaster struck, Chip fell and became MASH! Chip was put into the bin. Chip thought his life was over! Surprisingly, Chip was sent to an amazing Anaerobic Digestion Recycling Centre. This is where Chip was able to fulfil his dream of bringing energy to someone. Chip was cleverly turned into the electricity which was used to print this story.

On a cold winters day, I was sitting on the bank of a river watching the float moving gently in

the water. SUDDENLY the float disappeared, my

heart was thumping as the reel was spinning as fast as lightning.I picked up the rod as fast as I could and struck with all my strength. The fish was so strong and put up an awesome fight, it didn’t want to be on the bank. I fought him over and over, he was getting tired. My dad picked up the net as I got the fish closer to the bank, within a moment I had caught my biggest pike ever!

As some of you may know the new entrance to Bletchley Park is now Block ‘C’; after WWII our father was the manager here and he worked in Bletchley Park with the FO from 1940 through until 1950.

My brother, sisters and I were invited to Bletchley Park when the Duke of Kent opened it as a Museum in 1995, and my sisters presented the Wall Hanging which is now on display in the main entrance of the Mansion.

Block ‘C’ has been refurbished and now is a beautiful entrance and information centre. After the war my sister’s and I enjoyed playing in this Block on many occasions.

We were very sad when we left the Park as we had lived there for ten years and remember it as our garden. We had been invited by Bletchley Park to attend the opening of the new entrance for this ceremony by HRH the Duchess of Cambridge on the 18th June.

The Duchess wore a blue and white dress with gold buttons and looked most elegant.

Towards the end of the war the Duchess of Cambridge’s paternal grandmother worked in Hut 16 as a Foreign Office Civilian. Hut 6 was renamed and housed the Enigma processing machinery for German Army and Air Force messages, passing the decrypted messages to Hut 3 for translation and reporting.

My sister Faye flew in from Australia on the 5th June and was to attend this occasion with her twin, Jean, and myself, but sad to say Jean fell over and broke her shoulder and was too ill to attend this opening. I felt, as did my two sisters, very honoured and proud to be at the opening, particularly because of the work carried on by everyone who worked there during WWII, helping to shorten the war by at least 2 years. Our dad was one of those keeping the secrets for so many years after; we are so proud of him.

Both Jean and I are Volunteer Stewards in the Park now. Jean has been a Steward for the past 20 odd years on Sundays, and now I Steward on Saturdays.

Seven lower schools turned up to play in the Linslade Leos Football Festival which was held on Saturday 28th June.

Again the day started off brightly but then the heavens opened, which mirrored the weather of last year’s festival. The young footballers and their supporters were not deterred though and the refreshment tent did a roaring trade as people sought shelter from the pelting rain. Freshly ground coffee

Linslade Leos Football Festival 2014was available courtesy of Xpress Coffee and a BBQ provided breakfasts and lunches. This is the Linslade Leos only fundraising event and was organised by Matthew Griffiths and a dedicated committee.

The committee would like to thank Specsavers of Leighton Buzzard who donated funds to cover the costs of referees for the day. All participants received a medal at the prize presentation and a fun day was had by all.

So says Leighton Buzzard author Colin Payne when asked about his most recent novel, Crash Dump. “I know it sounds obvious, but it’s something so many writers appear to forget. The greatest compliment anyone can offer about one of my stories is that they couldn’t put it down, had to read just that one more chapter. That to me means everything, because then I know that I have done my job properly. It’s a genre that shouldn’t be a labour, a challenge to read, it should be a fast ride through the imagination. The reader has to be part of it, right there in the character’s head, seeing what he or she is seeing, feeling what they feel, the pain, the anxiety, the relief. This to me is what Crash Dump manages to grasp so well.”

Set in a nocturnal London over a period of twelve hours, Colin’s latest book covers a man’s hunt for his son, taken from the scene of a botched drugs deal in which three people meet a grisly end. That the father is a serving Police Officer only makes matters worse as he is forced to abandon not just procedure, but his morals in the process, with himself becoming the prey for his colleagues.

The tale is full of twists and turns as the protagonists begin to realise what exactly it is all about.

“There is only one fact a

writer needs to remember when writing a thriller,

it needs to be thrilling!”

“Someone described the story as a British 24, for a generation who just can’t wait twenty four hours for a resolution.” Colin says of the story, “Although personally I feel it’s more character driven than that, the people in the book are real, they have to be if the reader is to truly feel for them, rather than just follow their progress.”

This is the fifth book Colin has seen published in the ‘Adrian Howard Series’, but it does work as a stand alone story, and is a good starting point for anyone who has yet to read one of his books.

It is published through the Createspace imprint on paperback, and is also available on Kindle, with both formats on sale through Amazon.co.uk

Further information, and excerpts from all five books can be found at either: www.collers100g.wordpress.com or www.facebook.com/groups/theshatteredeagle

Colin is a long term (thirty five years) resident of Leighton, and the first three of his titles feature a main character who lives in the town. When Colin is not writing books he works as a prison officer!

While the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil sparked the imagination of young footballers around the town, there

is currently an army of volunteers working hard to ensure that the new 2014-2015 season is ready to feed their hunger for the ‘beautiful game’ come September.

Leighton Town Youth are looking forward to the new season especially. Formed in 1999 as a feeder to the town’s senior Club, they now boast 16 teams from Under 7 to Under 21, who for the first time will be playing together at a new purpose built facility in Astral Park. In addition to a new sports & community centre with changing facilities which will also be serving hot & cold refreshments on match days, there will be pitches to meet all needs from mini-soccer to adult. Training facilities are also first-class and training takes place mid-week under floodlights on the superb facilities at Cedars and Vandyke Upper Schools.

The Club holds the Football Association’s Charter Standard kite mark, which is a guarantee to the quality of coaching and governance at the club. All coaches hold a FA Level 1 coaching qualification as a minimum. Many have gone on to take their Level 2 badges as well as Age-Appropriate qualifications. The Club

is always eager to hear from anyone looking to get into coaching and will work with new coaches to develop and fund a coaching pathway to meet their aspirations.

The life-blood of the Club is its members. The Club has boys and girls from all of the town’s schools and is always looking to add new teams at every age. Leighton Town teams play in Bedfordshire and MK leagues on both Saturdays and Sundays, at all levels. Regardless of your ability or commitment there is every chance that the Club will be able to provide some form of football to meet your needs.

Leighton Town Youth FC look forward to a bright future in their new home, Astral Park

Many players who have come through the ranks of Leighton Town Youth have gone on to play for Leighton Town at Bell Close. The Club is now committed to providing a football pathway into adulthood for anyone wishing to continue their football beyond school.

Leighton Town Youth are keen to hear from any players, coaches or volunteers who are wanting to find a team over the summer or who are looking for a new challenge. Please visit the Club’s website at www.ltyfc.org.uk to get the latest news and email contact details, or phone Chairman Ian Kirkwood on 079200 41198.

It is 1947 and the Rover Car Company are wondering how to face the future. Government restrictions mean steel is dicult to come by; in any case, 70% of manufacture has to go for export, leaving few possibilities for pro t in post-war Britain.

But Rover's top man, Maurice Wilkes and his brother hatch a plan based on an old wartime Jeep in use on the family farm in Wales. (Folklore has it that the design was drawn in sand on a beach, on a fag packet or on a beer mat). Anyway, using steel tubing and aluminium sheet, all wartime surplus, they built the  rst prototype Land Rover, designed as a truck for farmers, and a

stop-gap until proper Rover production could fully resume.

The little truck had centre steering, no doors, room for three people up

front and about one hay bale, a couple of lambs or a pig in the back! Despite its 1600cc engine, poor brakes and limited

load-carrying ability, 80 inch wheelbase production models,

with conventional steering, doors and a canvas roof, soon found favour

with farmers. The original light green body and chassis paint became Deep Bronze Green when The War Department ordered them by the hundred for the Armed Forces. ...the story continues on the next two pages

Patrick Barron “Paddy” Hopkirk is one of Northern Ireland’s most successful sportsmen thanks to his illustrious rallying career. Paddy was a professional racing and rally driver in the sixties and seventies. He has tasted success in many motorsport events worldwide, the most notable victory being the winner of the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally in a Mini Cooper. Paddy is a big supporter of SKIDZ and the work that they do with young people, taking a very hands-on approach. He donated his nal run of books to SKIDZ, so that all proceeds support their work. Paddy also appears at talks, presentations and ceremonies for SKIDZ.SKIDZ provides motor vehicle study courses for young people (13 –19+ years), helping the especially disadvantaged and those at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). SKIDZ students have gone on to obtain apprenticeships and carve out careers in the motor industry. Based in Buckinghamshire, SKIDZ now plans to launch its programmes nationwide through forging partnerships with schools, colleges, businesses and like-minded organisations. “Our vision is to instil key skills and facilitate young people in their progression into employment or further training. We do this by oering vocational opportunities in motor mechanics. Everything we do is designed to develop self-esteem, character, team work, respect and tolerance.

The initial aim of SKIDZ was to provide a diversionary project, to reduce car related crime in the Wycombe area and has up until now, worked with 13-16 year olds. These aims still exist, but as the project has grown we are now embarking on a series of major changes to cater

for the needs of 16-19 year olds as well, with a particular but not exclusive focus on those in danger of becoming NEET (that is neither in Education, Employment or Training). Using motor vehicle studies we work with young people with a range of

special requirements with the objective of re-engaging them with mainstream education. This is done by attendance at our workshops – very much and deliberately a non-school environment. Under the guidance of experienced

Motor Technicians, the students work on cars and motor cycles to learn basic primary skills. For others – classes are conducted in pursuit of more formal qualications that are the under the

moderation of the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) and ABC awards. One of our newest projects is to work with Post-16’s currently oering a Level 1 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance. This course is available to all that are interested in studying towards a career in the Motor Vehicle Industry.”

This year the Totternhoe Players are celebrating their 25th birthday. And some of us have been there right from the very start! The Group puts on three productions a year – in the spring there are comedies, in the autumn generally a murder mystery. And the biggest show of the year is our PANTOMIME in February.

Totternhoe Players welcomes new members. We are a friendly, open group of people, with a variety of interests, ages and abilities. If you join us wanting to act, then you will probably be cast sooner than you expect, and if that’s not your bag, then there are always plenty of other roles.

We aim to make the most of the talents you can bring to our group; everybody gets a chance to join in with whatever they can do. If your interests are in one of the back-stage disciplines; lighting, sound, set construction, costume, etc., then you will be very welcome too.

Most of all, we like our members to have fun!

You can always come along to one of our regular Wednesday meetings at Totternhoe Lower School, Church Road, Totternhoe, from 8:00 p.m. Let us know you’re coming by contacting Jo on 01582 603287.

On the weekend round 13 September we will be putting on an evening of Murder Mystery at Totternhoe Lower School. The evening will comprise a play, ‘An Extortionate Death’ by Ian McCutcheon, with additional ‘evidence’ followed by supper and a prize for the table/team getting nearest to the identity of the killer!

The Civil Defence used them and they also turned up as aireld and industrial re engines, garage breakdown trucks .. you name it, Land Rovers tted the bill exactly. They were here to stay.

Production continued until around 1983, the Series 1 vehicles evolving as Series 2 then 3, during which time they went to work in almost every country worldwide, in every climate and in countless roles. Articulated Landies, tracked ones, amphibious vehicles, ambulances, welding plant, air portable versions, some capable of being parachuted .... perhaps no vehicle has ever been so versatile.

Still carrying the unmistakable square appearance and no-frills practical design, the Series Land Rovers metamorphosed into the 90 and the Defender, with countless technical improvements, ensuring world leader-ship in the 4x4 market and unrivalled export success, even being manufac-tured under licence in several countries.

Civilian and military use continues globally but over the years, their fun potential has taken a quantum leap. Mud-pluggers, rally drivers , trail fanatics and speed merchants alike spend half their life and most of their spare cash building and developing awe-inspiring machines, light years away from stand-ard production models, whose abilities, seemingly defying the laws of physics, have to be seen to be believed. Go on... nd a Landy event and meet the best folk on four wheels. Beware, though, you will want one!

So what do they cost? Bargain basement jobs, needing work are for pocket money. You will need basic mechanical skills and tools though. Join a local club. Take advice. Buy a magazine or two. New and used parts are everywhere, mostly for reasonable money. Tread carefully, though... Landies rust like hell; walk away from overpriced rubbish. For a couple of grand you may get a good Series or an even later model but be prepared to spend on improvements. Early Series 1 and 2 models are especially sought after. Five grand can buy a fair one; anywhere up to twenty thousand is increasingly common for superb examples.

And now the sad bit. After almost seventy years' continuous production, the traditional shape will cease production over the next few months. The legend will live on, though and there will still be cherished Land Rovers in the next century, if current youthful enthusiasm is anything to go by. It does what it says on the tin!

This article was researched and written exclusively for the E&v by a Somerset based Land Rover enthusiast, David, elder brother of the Editor of this magazine. Thanks bruv!

My elder brother’s love of thingsmechnical and getting to gripswith them does not begin and end with Land Rovers, Oh no! In his time he has renovated an early Ferguson Tractor, a Hovercraft, stationary engines, created and built a two seater open top car based on a Triumph Herald chassis, built numerous model toy Land Rovers (for his grandchildren), a replica of pre war hillclimber ‘Bloody Mary’ and his recent project has been to restore and runa ‘Bean Tractor’.

Are they investments? You decide. Recently, a better than new restoration made £35k in a London auction. Oh yes; the Series 1 Land Rover presented to Churchill went for over £120 000.

This summer, the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games (held every 4 years) will bring together thousands of elite athletes, friendly volunteers and excited spectators to join an incredible festival of sport and culture. The Commonwealth Games is a multisport gathering of competitors from British Commonwealth countries that takes place every four years. The first meeting, known as the “British Empire Games”, was in August, 1930.The original name of the Commonwealth Games was British Empire Games. Despite the intervening war years, the event grew to become a symbol of the British Commonwealth, a diversity of nations with past and present connections to Great Britain, the superpower of the 19th century. Although the Commonwealth Games has become known as “The Friendly Games,” and despite the nature of its colonial roots, it is intended to be more fun and less strict than the Olympic Games.

Jackson & Phillips are proud members of the Bosch Car Service network which is a national network of independent garages. Each garage is well established in its own right and aims to keep its premises neat and tidy with clear Bosch Car Service signage, uniforms and equipment. We are an independently owned business with friendly sta, trained to t or replace Bosch quality parts. To guarantee that we maintain the high standards that Bosch set, we are audited every year and, to ensure that our technicians are up to date with new

technologies, Bosch insist that our sta attend training on a regular basis. With changes in European legislation it is possible to

have your car serviced at an independent garage without invalidating your manufacturer’s warranty. In recent years, the

advances in the technology in your car has been huge and Bosch is at the forefront of this.

Jackson & Phillips is a family run independent business and has been for over 40 years. Our highly trained, friendly sta understand that keeping you on the road is the main objective. The space we have as well as being independant gives us the scope to be able to maintain and repair anything from a 3 wheeler to large vans and motorhomes. As part of the Bosch car service network we adhere to the TSI approved code of practice and this commitment to customer care is yet another reason to choose Jackson & Philips for all your motoring needs.

I’m Stephen Bennett and two years ago I set up a voluntary group called the ‘Leighton Linslade First Responders’.

We work with the East of England Ambulance Service and respond to 999 calls within the Town and surrounding villages. We are dispatched at the same time as an ambulance but aim to be first on scene due to living in the town which means being able to give patients a greater chance of survival. We only attend the most life threatening calls and carry all the equipment we need to keep a patient alive until the ambulance arrives. Our main focus is to improve people’s

Leighton Linslade First Responders

chances of survival especially those who suffer a cardiac arrest. Every minute counts when someone goes into cardiac arrest. Their chances of survival decreases by 23% for every minute they remain untreated and with CPR alone it only gives a patient a 5% chance of survival compared to CPR and Defibrillation giving a patient a 50% chance of survival, As you can see it’s vital we get a defibrillator to the patient ASAP which is why we aim to be on scene of a cardiac arrest within 8 minutes of receiving the call.

To improve a patient’s chance of survival even further, then a defibrillator needs to be on scene within a minute or 2. This is why it is our project this year to install Public Access Defibrillators around Town, which anyone can use without training, to improve the chances of someone receiving treatment within a minutes or two of going into cardiac arrest before we or an ambulance crew arrive.

Since starting our campaign we have received great support from many people and

organisations, receiving very generous donations from groups such as the Rotary. LB First got in touch and offered their support by doing a fundraising campaign to coincide with their Independence Day event. We would like these defibrillators to belong to the community of Leighton Buzzard and Linslade. For this to happen it’s important for the independent retailers and shoppers to get behind this project.

The Leighton Linslade First Responders and LB First are placing donation tins in many of the shops in town and we ask the community to really get behind this project and donate what they can to help save lives in their Town.

We are also continually looking for more volunteers to join the group. If this role is something you feel you would like to get involved with please contact me on [email protected]

NHS Blood Donation Do Something Amazing... Give Blood

It’s easy to become a blood donor – just go to the website at www.blood.co.uk to find out more and to read some amazing stories of how blood donation has really helped to save lives.

Blood is something we all expect to be there for us when we need it, yet only 4% of us give blood. Many people would not be alive today if it wasn’t for the generosity of blood donors. Each blood donation can help as many as 3 people. 100 donations equates to 47 litres of blood.

Anyone aged between 17-65, weighing more than 50 kg (7 stone 12lbs) and in general good health could potentially start saving lives by becoming a blood donor.

The next donor sessions in our area are as follows:

Wednesday 13 August Brooklands Club Hall Garden Leys Off Brooklands Drive LU7 3PQ

Tuesday 26 August Leighton Buzzard Scout Association Hall Grovebury Road LU7 4SW

Sunday 7 September Mobile Unit at Tesco Store Vimy Road LU7 1ER
