WElcOME A word from the Exhibition Director

The 10th edition of Queensland Mining & Engineering Exhibition (QME) broke all records. QME 2012 saw an 17% increase in visitor numbers compared to 2010 and was once again a sold out show. The demand for space was a premium at this year’s event and is indicative of the investment and expansion the Bowen and Galilee Basins are experiencing.

QME showcased over 650 suppliers, representing the latest in mining product and service innovation. The quality and variety of products on display were evident and well received by the trade visitors. 98% of visitors stated they were ‘satisfied’ or ‘very satisfied’ with QME 2012 and 88% of visitors saw something they were likely to buy after the exhibition.

QME 2012 saw the inclusion of mining community initiatives that centred on miners’ health, mining family issues, a QME Careers Centre and a Women in Mining Panel Discussion that celebrated the increased role of women in the industry. These programs provided an extra element to QME 2012 and generated strong media interest. The REEDMININGEVENTS portfolio will continue to develop these programs and deliver multi-faceted exhibitions to the mining industry.

We publish this Post-Show Report as a transparent account of independent research and feedback from both exhibitors and visitors from QME. Visitor statistics in this report have been audited and approved by the Circulations Audit Board to provide you with a detailed overview of QME 2012. Some highlights include:

• There were 12,556 visits over the 3 days of QME

• 98% of visitors were ‘very satisfied’ to ‘satisfied’ with QME

• 88% of visitors saw something they were likely to buy after QME

• 53% of visitors held direct authority or influence for purchasing the types of goods on display at QME

• 83% of exhibitors were ‘very satisfied’ to ‘satisfied’ with QME

On behalf of REEDMININGEVENTS, I would like to thank all exhibitors, trade visitors, speakers, supporting partners, media partners and all other supporters for their contribution to QME 2012.

I look forward to working with you again at one of our premium mining exhibitions or at the next QME in 2014.

Testimonials:

“This is our first QME and it’s been a great week. When your

customers are operating underground and you can only communicate

with them via email, it’s so refreshing to meet them face-to-face.

We’ve seen a broad cross section of people, decision-makers, senior

managers, finance people and operators and it’s been invaluable to

listen to their feedback on our product.”

– Craig Melville, General Manager sales | KopeX waratah

“It’s been a really good week at QME for Hyundai Construction Equipment. We’ve surprised a lot of visitors with the launch of the 120 tonne excavator. We’ve received a positive response from a range of visitors including senior management of major mines, managing directors of mining contractors, as well as plenty of operators. QME has been a great platform for us and the big top where we’ve been exhibiting has been very popular with visitors.”

– robert pearson, Marketing Manager |hyundai Construction equipment Australia

“At all levels we’ve had a really good week at QME. We’ve seen the right people, we’ve generated good leads and we’ve been able to explain the future directions for our business.

We’ve seen a broad cross-section of people from senior management through to operators. Sandvik has a significant investment in the Mackay area and the more the community understands our brand, the more we build our social licence to operate.”

“It’s been a great QME for BIS. It’s always good to be in

front of the customers, to show them what’s new and

hear their feedback. We’re now one of the largest hirers

of visitors to the stand including senior managers and

operators from this sector.”
