Dear Colleagues
At the heart of our diocesan life vision is a commitment to share the
transforming gospel of Jesus Christ so that people may know life in all its
fullness. This is reflected in the following pages which are bursting with
invitation to develop skills and ministries as diverse followers of Christ, each
called to treasure and nurture the gifts we have been given.
The events in this brochure will enable different people in different situations
to explore the living out of our vision in ever deeper ways, for the sake of
the Kingdom of God and the well-being of the Body of Christ.
I would like to thank the Mission and Ministry Department for their
tremendous work in providing a rich menu that caters for a wide variety of
ministry needs and contexts, and I commend this brochure to you not least
as we seek to nurture leadership committed to transformation.
As ever, this comes with my prayers and thanksgiving for the ministry we
share.
‘Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish
abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the
church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever.’ Ephesians 3:

We long for whole families to have a
meaningful encounter with God.
How can we achieve that?
Where do we even begin?
A workshop morning first exploring
the dynamics of family life, using the
bible and social realities of our time;
then looking at how we make the
most of opportunities we do have
e.g. through baptisms, Messy Church,

Exploring Vocation
What is God’s direction for me?
God's nature is to call, ours to
respond, engage, question and
welcome this Godly activity. You
might like to recommend this day
to someone you know.
Through input, discussion and
personal reflection, guest speakers
and scripture we will explore
various callings and ministries. The
day helps individuals reflect upon
their personal journey of Christian
discipleship and utilise resources for
discerning God’s will for the next
move.

Our call is first and foremost to a
relationship with God. Often when
we talk about calling we think about
what role or job God is calling us to
do. This day is a chance to stop and
reflect what God may be calling us
to be – not as something else to
make us busy but in the sense of
deepening our relationship. At
whatever stage of searching God’s
will for your life, come and explore
who God is and what walking with
God might look like for you.

FAITH AND SPIRITUALITY
Giving yourself time and space to
reflect on how God’s continuing call
is key to fruitful ministry. So often in
our busy lives we become reactive
to the world and issues around us
but lose touch with the bigger
picture of God’s gentle call to us as
individuals and ministers. What is
God saying to you? Have you space
to discern what God is saying to the
community where you serve?
This retreat focuses on vision and
calling. A chance to stop, to pray
and to reflect. A chance to be led in
prayer and worship and to listen for
the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Sustainable Ministry
Eco Church is a tool to enable us to
engage well with environmental
concerns, working under the five
headings of worship and teaching;
buildings; land; community and
global; and lifestyle. We work
towards Eco Diocese accreditation,
recognising both that it is something
we are called to do in God and that
it is increasingly becoming a missional
barrier when churches are not seen
to be taking this seriously.

practicalities and the theological
