FAREWELL FUNCTION
Farewell function of Ms. Ranjana Jha, TGT, English Department and academic
coordinator class 6 to 8 and Ms. Dipali Bhachech, Head librarian was organized on
29th
April, 2014, Tuesday in the AV Room by Staff Welfare Committee in the
presence of Principal, Sr. Vice Principal and Vice Principal.Ms. Tulika Saha anchored
the function on behalf of the Staff Welfare committee and welcomed Ms. Jha and Ms.
Bhachech to the function. Members of the Staff Welfare Committee received the
Principal, Sr. Vice Principal and Vice Principal. The Principal complemented both
Ms. Jha and Ms. Bhachech on their diligence and wished them good luck for their
future endeavors. Sr. Vice Principal and Vice Principal also shared their experiences
and wished both of them a good future. Colleagues from the English department
felicitated Ms. Jha and shared their experiences. Ms. Jha thanked the DPS family of
which she had been a part for over a decade. Ms. Jha moving on to Calorx School
Ghatlodia, as headmistress, spoke about her commitment to the values of Calorx and
DPS family. Ms. Bhachech shared her experiences of over fifteen years with the DPS
family and delighted the gathering with a beautiful song. a bouquet, memento and
card was given as a parting gift. Light refreshments followed the vote of thanks.
Summer Camp 2014 - FUN & LEARNING at DPS Bopal Campus.
Vacation is all about relaxation. At DPS Bopal it is FUN and LEARNING. The
Summer Camp-2014 had programs for everyone from class I to Class XII. The
children had hands on learning in robotics and science. They presented their creative
best in painting, sculpture and upstage workshops. And reading was made easy and
enjoyable for the little ones.
Pratibha Gaurav Divas (2013-14): Perfection is a moving target and chasing perfection takes us closer to
excellence……….Delhi Public School, Bopal organised it‟s most coveted ceremony
Pratibha Gaurav Divas for classes 8 and 9 on 2 May‟14 in order to honour the talented
students . The students got blessings from their respected principal sir, vice principal
ma‟am and the special guest Mr. P.D.Palsana, deputy collector for Gujarat
Administrative Service. He delivered a very valuable speech inspiring the students to
start preparing for the competitive exams,as starting early in life will be beneficial for
them. He advised the students to perform yoga which is beneficial for physical and
mental health allowing more concentration and reducing stress. The ceremony
progressed with the lighting of the lamp, a melodious song by the school choir,
followed by an inspirational speech by the principal Mr Surendra P Sachdeva,
reflecting the core values of the school and academic excellence. He reminded the
students that„Success is a habit; it is a journey not a destination. ‟ He advised the
students not to compromise in knowledge and skill, emphasized on the importance of
perseverance and team work in today‟s scenario. At last he reminded the students to
remain sensitive to others. Finally the prize distribution for which the awardees were
waiting took place amidst enthusiasm and applause. The event proved to be a
memorable experience for everyone.
Poems come alive.....! 6 students of DPS participated in “Poem Out Loud” held at J.G.International School
on 25/7/2014, Friday accompanied by Ms. Leena Parikh. The competition was held at
three levels- Group A, Group B and Group C. 25 reputed schools participated in the
event. Our students put up a good show.
SCHOLARSHIPS AND ACCOLADES: FELICITATING MERITORIOUS
STUDENTS Class XII students (2013-14) batch have made the school proud by their outstanding
performance in Grade XII board Exams. Ten students of the school have made their
position in the top 1% of the board students to score above 475 marks excluding the
sixth additional subject. CBSE has felicitated their performance by granting
scholarship of 80,000 per year for next 5 years. These students were called upon stage
and honoured with the Advisory note sent by the board.
DPS Bopal celebrated the stupendous success of the achievers starting on a
congratulatory note by the Principal, Mr Surender Sachdeva. This was followed by
experience sharing and finally a cake cutting ceremony. The whole atmosphere
reverberated with the sound of cheer and exuberance.
DPS Bopal is proud to share that Kushagra Madan has secured AIR 56 in JEE
Advanced Exam.
PRATIBHA GAURAV DIVAS FOR HIGHER SECONDARY STUDENTS
“The Price of success is hard work and dedication towards the aim in life along
with perseverance, whether we win or lose”.
Hard work and efforts are nurtured with appreciation and recognition. It is this belief
that is put in practice at Delhi Public School, Bopal, who organised the Felicitation
Ceremony-Pratibha Gaurav Divas for the classes X, XI and XII on 2nd August 2014.
This event, while awarding students who have excelled in academics, also recognizes
achievements in the areas of Dance, Music, Sports, Art & Craft and extracurricular
activities. Our Guest of Honour was Shri Sushil Kaul, CEO, Arvind Ltd., while Dr.
Meena Jhala, MD, DGO Consultant and IVF specialist, Mayflower Hospital, was the
special guest. The welcome speech given by the Principal‟s was inspiring and
encouraging. He shared his valuable thoughts and mentioned that it was not his
responsibility but a great privilege to educate students and stay with young minds. He
also said that success is not a destination but a milestone in the journey towards
excellence.
The students, who had passed out of the school, enjoyed being on their school campus
and meeting their school teachers after receiving their awards. Faces shone with pride
of achievement as each student received the hard won and prestigious award.
PATRIOTIC TUNES REND THE AIR AT DPS, BOPAL
„Before the world they proudly unfurled a flag that was never seen. Saffron for
courage, white for peace and the wealth of India was the green.‟
The 68th independence day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and gusto today at
Delhi Public School, Bopal, where students raised their voices and sang
traditional patriotic songs with youthful enthusiasm. The chief guest, Air Marshall
Prakash Desai, inspected the Independence Day parade as students marched smartly to
the rhythm of the beat of drums played by the school drummers.
Our principal Mr. Sachdeva, emphasized how Bal Gangadhar Tilak's words „Swaraj is
my birthright and I will have it!‟ demanding independence, are relevant even today.
While in the past they demanded independence for the country today they stand for
freedom of thought, expression and belief and even the pursuit of excellence.
The children were dressed in interesting costumes reflecting our national colours. The
release of saffron, white and green balloons was cheered loudly by the audience. The
occasion was sweetened by the distribution of chocolates to all students. The 68th
Independence day celebration will forever be etched in the memories of the students.
SRIJAN 2014 The design of art, the glory of expression, the reasoning of mathematical logic, the
blend of expertise in technology and computing and the sunshine of eloquence in
words saw the culmination in perfect harmony of theme and thought. The myriad
competitions saw a congregation and expression of creative genius at their best. Srijan
2014, an Inter -School creative extravaganza was organised at DPS, Bopal on
Saturday, 16th August 2014. 450 participants from 25 schools across Ahmedabad
participated in this unique fest to celebrate creativity. The events included
Declamation, JAM, Hindi Extempore, Ganitagya – Math quiz, Robot designing, Web
designing, Kalayatan – creating a bird house and nest and painting on the theme of
nurturing nature.
The various events were adjudged by Dr. Madhusudan Mukherjee, Associate
Professor in SLU college, Ms.Ruchi Tiwari, lecturer in Soft skills, Dhanlaxmi
Vatnani, Professor Nav Gujarat college, Aparna Bhatnagar, author, Mr. Amit R. Datta,
Counsellor with IGNOU, Mrs. Meenakshi Sarkar, Senior Scientist at Space
Applications Centre, Mr. Siva Kumar, Park Manager at Sundervan and Mr. Ravi
Panchal Graphic, designer at CEE. The judges were impressed to witness an ocean of
talent on one platform.
The much awaited prizes were announced by the Sr.Vice Principal, Ms. Vandna Joshi.
The prizes were given away by the Principal, Mr. Surender P. Sachdeva, who in his
address encouraged all the participants and said that such events were organized to
discover and chisel the latent talents which each child possessed. Five schools
contended for the rolling trophy, 'Srijan Sri' which was bagged by Zydus School,
Vejalpur. All in all, the event was nothing short of creative perfection.

Investiture Ceremony is one of the most important events of any school. It reminds us
of the trust and confidence that we repose in the newly invested office bearers.
Donning the mantle of responsibility, they also pledge to dispense their duties to the
best of their abilities. The Investiture Ceremony of Delhi Public School Bopal,
Ahmedabad for the academic session 2014-2015 was held in a special ceremony at the
school premises in Abhivyakti Hall. The event was presided over by Dr Pradeep
Mallik, Deputy Resident Editor of Ahmedabad Mirror , school Principal Mr. Surinder
Sachdeva ,Sr Vice Principal Ms Vandna Joshi and Ms Neera Pandey.
The welcome address was delivered by our Principal. Mr. Sachdeva also stressed on
the qualities of a leader: self discipline, source of motivation, the will to serve and the
most important of all - team work to achieve collectively. He said that ' the leader does
not walk in front of the team, he walks beside the team'. He also congratulated the
new cabinet and said that with power comes great responsibility and advised them to
be role models for other students.
After all the office bearers took the stage, Mr. Mallik, Principal and Sr.Vice Principal
pinned the badges to the office bearers, a further sign of their added responsibility.
Principal administered the oath of office to the members. The new cabinet members
promised to discharge their duties honestly, sincerely and to the best of their abilities.
The programme proceeded with dance performance „Sapne‟, a dance based on dreams
and aspirations. .
Chief guest Mr. Mallik encouraged the new council.He said communication is very
important in leadership and he further added listening is also an important attribute
and is integral part of leadership. He appreciated the students and showered his
heartfelt blessings. The programme culminated with the vote of thanks delivered by
Vice Principal Ms Neera Pandey.
ART GALLERY: GLIMPSES OF AHMEDABAD A Pictorial Display titled „Glimpses of Ahmedabad‟ reflecting the culture and heritage
of Aapnu Ahmedabad was organized by Delhi Public School Bopal on 28 September
at Natarani.
Students displayed 23 sketches and paintings portraying the various glimpses and
landmarks of Ahmedabad city, capturing it‟s ethos and cultural heritage. The
exhibition was organized at Darpana Arts Academy in association with Natrani as a
part of Natrani‟s initiative to promote the cultural heritage of Ahmedabad.
Paintings of Sarkhej Roza, Ellis bridge, Chabootra , Jama Masjid , Gandhi Ashram,
Pols , Siddi Saiyad Ni Jaali, Dutch Tombs (near Kankaria), Hutheesing Temple and
the Guajarati cultural dance “Garba” were exhibited. Students (of classes 11th and
12th) worked in various mediums like water colours, dry pastels, pencils, pen
sketches etc under able and dynamic guidance of Ms Vandna Joshi, Senior Vice
Principal and Ms Meenakumari Damre, Fine Arts Educator.
Exhibition wall was well received and is likely to be organized in other parts of the
city.
PHILATELY DAY CELEBRATION A group of 15 DPS students from classes V, XI and XII accompanied by Ms. Jahal
Rajput, participated in "Philately Day Celebration" which was held at Postal
Department (GPO) near Relief Cinema on 13th October 2014 from 10:00 am to 1:30
pm. The competition was organized by Philately department.
The event started with a workshop on Philately thereby giving information about
various stamps. This was followed by the quiz and drawing competitions. Students
were also taken around the post office to show how the system works. Our students
won the quiz competition by 6/10 score.
FIRE DRILL On 15/10/14, DPS Bopal, organized fire drill for 500 students which included the
students of class VII, VIII and fine arts students of class XI. The drill was very
interesting where the students saw the fire rescue vehicles and tenders and various
gadgets used by fire and rescue personnel. Live demonstration of the use of gadgets
like hydraulic cutters, air jacks etc… was given. The students were also shown how a
fire is put off.
OUR CREATIVE TEACHERS The Staff Welfare Committee of DPS, Bopal, organized a Rangoli Competition on
18/10/2014. Staff members enthusiastically participated in the competition.
Participants were given an hour to exhibit their talent, with specific instructions
regarding size, presentation and variety of material which can be used. This
competition was followed by a sumptuous lunch (South Indian buffet). All the staff
members enjoyed the event.
PINKATHON - 'A BREAST CANCER AWARENESS CAMPAIGN'. Delhi Public School, Bopal, joins Pinkathon - 'A breast Cancer - Awareness
Campaign'.
Milind Soman visited DPS Bopal on 1st October for Run for fitness & to raise
awareness about Breast Cancer and women's wellness at Pinkathon. More than 25
Mother -Daughter team posted their Selfie on SBI Pinkathon goes to School Face
Book page, and asked for their friends, relatives to Like and share it. The Picture with
the most likes and the most number of shares was of Ms. Shilpi Kumar,our staff
member.
ALUMNI COMMITTEE MEET The Alumni meeting for the Alumni Meet of Dec 24th, 2014 was held at Abhivyakti
between 9.30 am and 10.30 am in the presence of Alumni Reps of 2008 -2014
batches, V.Ps, Alumni Committee and the office bearers. The agenda of the meeting
was to plan for the 24th Dec Alumni Meet wherein the Alumni had to give inputs on
theme, souvenirs, food and beverage, cultural programme expected by them.
Manasvi Thapar, 2007 and Mehul Mitra, Assist Director to Vishal Bhardwaj shared
their experiences.
MY FM RANGREZZ- SWACHH BHARAT KE RANG DPS, Bopal hosted an „On the Spot Drawing Competition‟ on Cleanliness Drive
organized by “My FM". All the participants received participation certificates. The
participants were also given a pledge which the students signed to reinforce their
commitment for a Swachh Bharat.
This was an Ahmedabad city level contest in which the selected drawings will be
published in My FM Annual Calendar 2015- 16.

STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT INDIA'S HERITAGE The most important aspects of our personalities are given by our heritage. Generation
Next , needs to acquaint itself with the city's and country's ancient monuments, art and
art forms. The aim of the club is to inculcate a sense of pride in being an Indian and in
'Indianness'. To this effect, the Heritage club was started this year under the aegis of
SPICMACAY. Students from classes 6-10 who chose to become members of this
club were absorbed in it. Students of class 6 researched the diverse dresses and
costumes of India, put it up on the heritage club board. A dance workshop was
conducted on 26/9/14 by the artist Pappan on Kalaripayattu art form of Kerala, a
relatively unknown form of art in the North, which students enjoyed.
A visit to Kochrab Ashram on Gandhi Jayanti where students sang one of Gandhi's
favourite bhajans and listened to a beautiful recital by a great master. The students
present there, also toured the ashram and learnt more about the Father of the nation.
The play 'Kadak Badshahi' performed at Natrani, further enthused students and
encouraged them to learn more about their city. The performance, language and
modes of expression in the play enthralled and excited students to such an extent that
they are eager for more. The journey to India's rich heritage has only just begun!
ENGLISH WEEK (24TH -28TH NOVEMBER) The students of Delhi Public School, Bopal ,Ahmedabad celebrated English week
from 24th to 28th Nov 2014. In its weeklong celebration the students of classes VI –
X took part in a variety of programmes. This programme was aimed to encourage all
pupils to use English Language as a medium of interaction with their friends and
teachers. Various activities were arranged during the week and opened to all students.
The activities were carried out from 7.30 a.m. until the school session ended.
The event kicked off on Monday 24th November 2014 and it started with the beautiful
concept of children dressed as various English characters who moved around the
school. Word tambola a class activity was conducted in classes 6 to 8 with different
topics like synonyms, gender, etc. The children were tested on their listening ability
and vocabulary, including speed and accuracy. Picture Perfect a comprehension skill
based game was also administered with great ado. On the third day of the week the
students were engaged in reading two inspirational short stories imparting moral
values. It was a great way to collectively make students aware of themselves and test
their reading skills among their own classmates. Another activity conducted during
this week was a golden chance to create their own favourite stories by editing the
beginning or the end of the story, the student could also change the main protagonist
and be the authors of their own creative books. The experience on writing the review
of the book was not less than a realization about the beauty of the book and falling in
love with it all over again.
As a part of the celebration ENGLISH FOOD FIESTA was held at the school canteen
“FOODUM”. A mouth watering platter of a variety of sandwiches, pastries, cup
cakes, cream rolls, croissants, truffle pudding and French fries added colour and
aroma to the celebrations.
Games related to English language and literature were also organised. There were
different games like author guessing, word chase, jumbled words, book-o-mania, mix
and match etc. Teachers also planned some new games like tail the dog where
students were given letters beforehand, they were blindfolded and then they had to pin
the letter at the correct body part of the dog. Various mediums were used to attract the
students by the teachers like drums, piano, costumes, posters etc. The students
enthusiastically participated and were also awarded for winning the games as well as
for participation. The interest and eagerness among the students as well as teachers
lighted up the atmosphere. Such events help to increase the usage of English and
enrich the vocabulary.
The week long activities, competitions and games came to an end today on 28
November 2014 to the roll of drums and rising youthful voices. The recess was
transformed as the academic courtyard saw students listen and sing along to different
songs of their favourite pop and rock icons. A medley of interesting songs from
different ages was put up by a group of students while some sang solo, accompanied
by just a guitar. The audience joined in the cover of Green day's number
'Holiday'.Dipsites Connect,a weekly was published as the show stopper of the event.
