Rules and etiquetteCode of conductOur anime convention has a number of rules, policies, and regulations that help make the convention run smoothly and be as fun as possible for everyone. We encourage you to read our rules to understand what is expected to help make the best, most successful, and most fun weekend possible. Violations of these rules and responsibilities can result in loss of privileges, up to and including ejection without refund, legal action, or involvement of the authorities.

The Most Important Rule: Do not do anything that could make the convention less fun for other attendees, the hotel, the staff, or for yourself. If it’s dangerous,

obnoxious, uncomfortable, or otherwise, do not do it. It is all of our responsibility to make sure that everyone has a safe, respectful, and fun weekend.

If it is illegal outside of the convention, it is illegal here. Excessive or underage alcohol use, drug use, harassment, carrying firearms, and many other things are illegal, and will result in your loss of the privilege to attend our convention. If you have a safety or security concern, bring it to the convention’s operations center immediately. In emergencies, dial 911.

If you are hosting a party where alcohol is being served, it is your responsibility as host to ensure that the age of anyone drinking alcohol is checked. You should also designate someone not to drink, so that there is a fully competent person present to deal with any emergencies that might arise.

All attendees must wear their badge at all times throughout the convention, and it must be presented to convention staff on request at any time.

Cosplay props/weapons must be checked and peace bonded. No live-steel, realistic-looking guns or other potentially hazardous props will be allowed.

Selling anything of any kind at the convention is prohibited unless you are a registered exhibitor with the convention.

Bootleg merchandise is prohibited. If you suspect a vendor of selling unlicensed goods, please alert a volunteer or staff member.

Please only use public walkways, elevators or stairs. Do not obstruct thoroughfare.

Pets and animals are not allowed in the convention space or hotel, unless they are working animals (such as seeing eye dogs).

Smoking and vaping are not allowed in our hotel (including the courtyard).

Be courteous during any ‘ribbon hunting’. Ribbon distributors are usually busy members of the staff, exhibitors or guests. At times they may be too busy to award any ribbons. But when available, they will be happy to award any ‘earned’ ribbons. Please do not try to barter for or trade for ribbons that have not been earned though.

By attending the convention you understand that convention staff may take video footage and photographs throughout the convention which may be used in highlights, marketing endeavors, or other media. You consent to be filmed or photographed by staff, approved industry, or media during the entire convention without compensation to you. Your attendance constitutes a grant of rights to the convention to reproduce, display, distribute, perform, creative derivative works of, or otherwise use any video or pictures that it obtains and in any manner throughout the world in perpetuity, including online, for broadcast, or other transmissions.

These rules apply to all types of attendees, including exhibitors, press, and other congoers. We may also establish additional policies covering press, exhibitors, and others.

The convention’s code of conduct and other rules are subject to change at any time, and without notice, at the discretion of the convention. Violation of the rules is grounds for immediate loss of your convention badge and suspension from the convention.

Con-Jikan student councilYou can recognize Con-Jikan’s volunteer force by their distinctive light blue shirts bearing the Con-Jikan Academy emblem. Our crew can assist with directions, questions, and rules violations. They’re stationed all around the convention, so there should never be a volunteer out of earshot.

Don’t hesitate to call on a member of the student council if you need help — that’s what they’re there for! And if your case requires an extra level of attention, the hall monitor will get you to a staff member pronto.

on the subject of ribbonsRibbons are a unique aspect of Con-Jikan where attendees are rewarded for engaging with what the convention has to offer. You might get one for participating in a panel, meeting with a guest, or bundled with a purchase in the exhibitor’s hall!

That being said, please keep the following in mind when “ribbon hunting:”

1. Ribbons are not everywhere; please be respectful when inquiring about ribbons and do not hound ribbon distributors.

2. Some ribbon distributors will have specific requirements for ribbon acquisition and not everyone will be entitled to certain designs (e.g. Cosplayer ribbons are reserved for cosplayers).

3. Do not haggle with a ribbon distributor; be nice.

Anti-Harassment policyCon-Jikan takes a firm stance against harassment, which includes the following behaviors:

• Stalking• Unwanted photography or

recording• Intimidation

• Continuous disruption of events• Offensive comments• Inappropriate contact• Physical violence.

In addition, Con-Jikan prohibits discrimination, hate speech, and verbal abuse. If you witness, or are the victim of, harassment, please notify Con-Jikan staff immediately.

Chess on a giant chessboard, where each cosplayer plays a role. Each capture pits characters from very different universes against one another, and the entire event is emceed for maximum drama!

A keystone event where cosplayers display their skill in craftsmanship and performance before a live audience. Contestants show off their costumes on stage in front of a panel of judges, who evaluate each entrant before awarding prizes.

Rules and PrizesPrizes are awarded for excellence in the following categories:• Craftsmanship, for cosplay that is more than 50% participant made or modified

and demonstrates considerable attention to detail and commitment to the art and craft of costuming.• Awards will be given for best in Novice, Journeyman, and Master divisions

• Performance, for performance art that is true to the character, series, or mood of the cosplay; demonstrating a powerful stage presence and a passionate portrayal of fandom.

• Judge’s Choice, for honoring cosplay deemed excellent by one of our esteemed judges.• Three judges will each award a Judge’s Choice award

To Sign Up...If you would like to participate in the Masquerade, you must sign up or check in at the Event Registration desk between 10a and 2p on Saturday.• You must attend pre-judging at your assigned time between 2p and 5p.• You must provide or suggest pre-recorded sound or music to accompany you

during your stage time (30-90 seconds)

Photographer Joseph Shawl will be on site with professional backdrop, lighting, and photography equipment to take photos and provide prints at a reasonable price!

Xanthe Hyunh (pronounced Zan-thee Hwinn)is an LA-based voice actress who got her start as a fan-turned-finalist at the AX-Idol voice acting competition. Armed with a degree in Dramatic Arts from the University of California – Irvine, Xanthe has lent her voice to the characters Yuki Yuna (Yuki Yuna is a Hero), Ui Hirasawa (K-On!), Meiko “Menma” Honma (Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day), Haru Okumura (Persona 5), Bebe/Nagisa (Madoka Magica: Rebellion), Sachi (Sword Art Online), Hanayo Koizumi (Love Live!), Meruru (Atelier Mereru: The Apprentice of Arls), and Falcom (Hyperdimension Neptunia series), and many more!

Kira Buckland, an Alaska native, has been voice acting in fan and professional projects for over a decade. Some of her roles

include Umi (Love Live!), Kuroyukihime (Accel World), Izumo (Blue Exorcist), Julus (The Asterisk War), 2B (Nier: Automota), Trucy

Wright (Ace Attorney series), Dead or Alive (Honoka), Hiyoko Saionji (Danganronpa 2), and Alix/Timebreaker (Miraculous

Ladybug). You can also hear her voice in fan projects FF7 Machinabridged (as Aerith) and 50% Off (as Kou/Gou). A huge

fan of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, cosplaying, and all things David Bowie, Kira’s enthusiasm for fandom knows no bounds!

Four lifelong geeks and a revolving lineup of guests make up Color Circuit, an Albuquerque-based live streaming community with a passion for gaming and a penchant for entertainment! Founded in 2017 by Dylan, Kendra, Scott, and

Bon, Color Circuit livestreams regular content to Twitch and Youtube. Some of their programs include Controller Alt/Delete, Improv Bagel, Screen Source, Ludum Tempest, and We Destined Few… shows that regularly feature members of

the local community! The core circuits will be at Con-Jikan hosting myriad events… you don’t wanna miss it!

Kamon Tari (pronounced Kay-min Tahri) is an artist who specializes in cosplaying for a cause! Equipped

with a degree in Electronic Arts from Linfield College in Oregon, Kamon also dabbles in digital arts and Twitch broadcasting! With more than 3 years of experience and over 20 cosplays under her belt,

Kamon has judged cosplay contests at Anime PDX, PCC Mini-Con, and BMG Fan Fest… and this year she lends her expertise as a judge to Con-Jikan’s annual

masquerade! And since it’s the season for giving, Kamon will be taking donations at her booth for local

charities and hosting Con-Jikan’s charity auction!

Cree Nicole is a lifelong cosplayer who graduated UNM with a B.A. in Fine Arts and an M.A. in Art Education. Crowned Miss Klingon Empire for

2014/2015, Cree has been competing in— and judging cosplay competitions for the past several years,

showcasing her abilities throughout the southwest; she’s appeared at ACE, Miss Lubbock-Con, BMG Fan Fest, and Salt Lake City Comic Con! Some of Cree’s noteworthy cosplays include her Wendy’s/Harley

Quinn mash-up, Steampunk Rapunzel, and Mercy from Overwatch. Cree joins Con-Jikan this year as a featured

panelist and masquerade judge!

Kryssen Robinson, the talent behind YowLife Productions, is a YouTuber known for his flash-based

animated films. A graduate of Media Arts Collaborative Charter School in Albuquerque, he has produced

myriad animations, including Gamerz!, Lora Vicious, and the feature-length Project Split Figure (which had its silverscreen premier at The Guild Cinema). Kryssen

is a lifelong cartoon fan who draws influence from western and eastern animation. Kryssen’s channel

boasts over 160,000 subscribers, and his films have been viewed over 14M times. At Con-Jikan, Kryssen will screen some of his favorites and share insights

into his process!
