Tom EvansWhat happens whencapacity is lost? There are a number of reasons why a person may lack capacity, but some of the most common causes are: dementia, brain injuryor learning disabilities. Many vulnerable people cannot seek ourthe help or support they need. Consequently, they are reliantupon their support networks to obtain such advice on theirbehalf. Tom Evans can offer initial advice and guidance free ofcharge in relation to any issues regarding mental capacity andfinances. In addition, by providing free training workshops, thesupport networks of vulnerable people can become betterequipped to recognise situations and cases in which it may beappropriate for the Court of Protection to be involved.

"The UK has experienced a growth in the number of young people requiring support for

stress-related issues, and it’s clear that something needs to be done to improve the state of our

mental health within the education sector.

“That’s why we created Head Space – it’s a unique resource for educators to seek help and

advice for their pupils’ needs.

“Head Space allows people to really focus on how they can help pupils – and teachers – to look

after themselves mentally and receive the help they need. The response to the first issue has

been amazing.”

In Head Space, educators can read about the mental health and wellbeing of children and adults

alike. From mindfulness and animal therapy sessions, to the benefits of sports and esafeguarding

Lauren Du PlessisWhy Won't You Eat? (How anorexia consumed me)A patient perspective about my life and treatment with anorexia.I discuss early childhood experiences of sorting food and havingdifficult eating at school, to the onset of anorexia nervosa-likebehaviour. I work through how multiple points of contact and lackof communication on my medical record led to delayed/confusedtreatment, and how I found the treatment that worked for me,through counselling, online resources, and MANTRA self-help. Ialso touch on how the lines between EDs are blurred - how I haveexperienced behaviours from several categories, and what all ofthis may mean for other patients like me.

What’s co-occurring? The complex needs ofsomeone using substances

Complex and co-occurring needs are not easy to define andwhilst typically link to substance misuse and mental health, there are other more broader factors to also consider. Professionals, carers and individuals have an incredibleopportunity to influence practice and use person-centredapproaches that improve the lives of some of the mostvulnerable people in our communities. In this seminar, we will explore the links between substance useand other co-occurring needs that add complexity and risk to aperson’s life. Identifying if it is ever just drug and alcohol misusecausing the problems.

In corporate life, things aren’t always easy. Boardroom battles spill over and it can feel a little like guerrillawarfare as politics and people’s agendas - often hidden - causeunforeseen challenges. Staying in harmony and well with a fighting spirit in thiscompetitive world of work needs the right approach: to bementally agile and ready to achieve one’s own and thecollective goals set. The session will be enlightening andencouraging. With a touch of humour, you’ll realize we all feel attimes overcome - but there is always a way up over round orthrough.
