Asean Affairs Business Council (AABC) is the forum of Southeast Asia’s global publication Asean Affairs. AABC is the platform to discuss the leading issues facing the world and how they impact Asean’s 560 m people across the 10 member countries. In June 2009, AseanAffairs hosted The Sixth Asean Leadership Forum

with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva of Thailand as the keynote speaker with participation from 200 business and government leaders across Southeast Asia. In the wake of the global economic crisis, we organized a series of conferences on His Majesty the King of Thailand’s Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) which presented an alternative economic model for the world to consider. AseanAffairs has been involved with the Asean Summit (Bangkok Feb ‘09), Asia Pacific Weeks (Berlin Oct’09), The 5th Asia Economic Summit (Singapore Dec’09) and Asean Integration conference organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Bangkok Nov’09). AABC brings together the leading stakeholders in Asean’s future: Governments, Think Tanks, Businesses and Civil Society. 2010 maybe the turning point for the world in the way we do business and live our lives. With the intense interest on the “Green Technologies” of the near future and our world’s obsession with carbon based fuels and following on the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Conference, AABC is launching a series of conferences to debate Climate Change and what Asean can do to prevent and mitigate this vital challenge of our times. “Save Our Planet 1” on March 12, 2010 in Bangkok is the first in a series of conferences being organized by ABBC. The conference will be held in different Asean capitals (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Ho Chi Minh) in 2010 culminating in a mega conference at the end of the year. The conference seeks to enlighten leaders in business and government in Southeast Asia to the outcome of the Copenhagen Climate Conference, create awareness of our growing carbon footprint, and find sustainable solutions for individuals, businesses, civic society and governments to contribute towards saving our planet from catastrophic consequences before it is too late.

5th April: The 7th Asean Leadership Forum in Kuala Lumpur, jointly organized by Alsi & AseanAffairs. http://www.aseanaffairs.com/events/7th_asean_leadership_forum.A Global Summit on East Asia (Asean + 6: China, Japan, S Korea, India, Australia and N Zealand), organized by AseanAffairs and partners.Other Partner Events:

"Our planet is still full of wonders. As we explore them, so we gain notonly understanding, but power. It's not just the future of the whale that

today lies in our hands: it's the survival of the natural world in allparts of the living planet. We can now destroy or we can cherish. The

choice is ours."
