    Onceagaintheyear2015sawustreadinpursuitofour

    aim of achieving excellence in various facets of the

    project.Oncemore,ouruniquemanagementmodelhas

    madeitpossibletoachieveourgoalsasthelargestNGOin

    the field of bovineup gradation. 18 years of ourwork

    experiencehasenabledustobuildanexcellentteamof

    professionals and build the ground work required for

    sustainablelongtermdevelopment&growth.

    Havingacceptedtosetup2,000newcentresinRajasthan

    will spur a major growth in our activities during the

    coming year. We express our sincere gratitude and

    acknowledge the assistance of the various State

    Governments,MinistriesoftheCentralGovernment,thecorporatesector,andtheruralmasses,without

    whosesupportandco-operation,ourmissionwouldnothaveachievedthelevelofsuccessitdid.Iwillbe

    failinginmydutyifIdidn'texpressmydeepappreciationforthehardworkputinbyDr.ShyamZawarandhis

    dedicatedteaminachievingourgoals.

    The efforts of all the departments, more especially Operations, Programme Development Cell, Human

    Wewishtoexpeditetheprocessofcattleupgradationtoachievealargernumberofimprovedbloodline

    animalsintheshortesttime.WealsoplantopropagateIndianbloodlinesinlinewithgovernmentthinking.

    Toachievethisneedscomplextechnologynotavailablewithinthecountry.Fourofourseniorscientistswent

    toUSArecentlytoacquirethisknowledge.Theywillbeworkingtoimplementtheserecentlydeveloped

    techniques at ourR&D facility initially atGopalnagar.Wewill be assistedby senior scientists from the

    Institute in USA, who are coming to further train our people and impart them with hands-on work

    experience.Wewillbetheonlyfarmdoingsuchspecializedworkonalargescale.

    Withabigger canvas toworkonwearecommitted toproducingmuchbetter results for thenextyear

    2016-17.

    2015hasbeenachallengingyearandhasprovidedusa

    greatchancetoseehowwellwewerepreparedtofacethe

    challengesandemergeasawinner.

    Lastyearwassospecialtousinthatwewerechosenas

    preferred partners for 4 State governments namely

    Maharashtra,Rajasthan,TelanganaandJharkhand.With

    theadditionoftheseStates,wehavepresencein10States

    ofthecountry.

    In addition, the work on the proposed 'Dr. Vijaypat

    SinghaniaCentreofExcellenceforAssistedReproductive

    Technologies in Livestock' in Pune and 'Dr. Vijaypat

    SinghaniaCentreofExcellenceinBovineGenetics'inRaipur,Chhattisgarhalsogainedmomentuminthepast

    12months'time.

    We,asanorganisationcouldgainthetrustofcorporateentitiesandhaveenteredintoCSRagreementswith7

    leadingcorporatesincludingacorporategiantlikeL&Tinthelastyear.

    The Cattle Breed Improvement Program (CBIP) of theTrustwas recognised as a GoodPractice by the

    MinistryofRuralDevelopmentduring theNationalWorkshoponGoodPractices inRuralDevelopment

    SectorheldinBhopalinSeptember2015.Weareproudtorevealthatweweretheonlyorganisationselected

    fromthelivestocksector.

    Further,JKTrustwasselectedasafinalistinBiharInnovationForum,subsequenttowhichNationalRural

    LivelihoodsMission(NRLM)undertheMinistryofRuralDevelopment,Govt.ofIndiahasrecommendedall

    StateMissionsthattheycanpartnerwithJKTrustbyenteringintopartnershipagreementunderNRLM

    partnershipnorms.

    Anotheraccomplishmentin2015wasthat'Dr.VijaypatSinghaniaTrainingInstituteforRuralDevelopment,

    Gopalnagar'wasaccreditedbytheMinistryofAgriculture,Govt.ofIndia.

    Aswemoveforward,ourvisionremainsclear–tocontinueasthebestruraldevelopmentorganisationinthe

    countrywithastrongfocusandcommitmenttowardsanimalhusbandry.

    A) Integrated Livestock Development

    Centres(ILDCs)

    Livestock development forms the core of the JK

    Trust'sinitiatives.Themainobjectiveoflivestock

    development activities is to upgrade the local

    indigenouslowmilk-yieldingcowsandbuffaloes

    bybreedingthemthroughArtificialInsemination

    (AI)withtheuseofhighpedigreefrozensemenof

    indigenous/exoticbreeds.Theresultingupgraded

    progeny with an improved genetic makeup will

    haveafarbettermilk-yieldingcapacity.

    This is achieved through a special programme

    called 'Cattle Breed Improvement Program (CBIP)' using an innovative project concept of 'Integrated

    LivestockDevelopmentCentre(ILDC)'.Theprogrammeoperatorreferredtoas'Gopal'istheonewhoruns

    eachcentreandisaneducatedruralyoungsterwhoisextensivelytrainedforfourmonthstocarryoutanimal

    breeding,healthandnutrition-relatedservices.

    TheGopalisprovidedwithamotorcycletocarryoutbreedingandotherveterinaryserviceslikeveterinary

    firstaid,castrationofscrubbulls,de-worming,preventivevaccinationagainstvariousdiseases,infertility

    treatmentetc.atthedoorstepsofthefarmers.Gopalsaresupervisedbyqualifiedveterinarians.Theentire

    programmeismonitoredbyahierarchyofmonitoringofficersandprojectmanagersatthevillage-block-

    district-statelevelandcontrolledcentrallyfromourHeadOfficeinMumbai.

    TheTrustisoperatinganetworkof3,777ILDCentresin118DistrictsofMaharashtra,Punjab,Haryana,st

    MadhyaPradesh,Chhattisgarh,Gujarat,Rajasthan,Karnataka,Telangana&Odishaason31 Dec.,2015.

    ThroughtheseCentres,weareprovidingveterinaryservicestoover37,000villagesinthesestates.

    B)MobileVeterinaryUnits(MVUs)

    Realisingthesignificanceoftimelyavailabilityof

    veterinary services for efficient livestock

    management,theTrusthasstartedtheprojectof

    MVUstoprovidepreventive,curative,advisoryand

    breeding services at the farmers' doorsteps,

    controlandcontaindiseaseoutbreaksandsupport

    andstrengthentheactivitiestakenthroughILDCs.

    EachMVU runs six days aweek and covers two

    ILDCsperdayasperafixedschedule.Routecharts

    arepreparedandcommunicatedtothevillagers.

    GopalsandMonitoringOfficersareinformedwell

    in advance tomake suitable local arrangements

    andorganisethevisitandoperationoftheMVU.Casessuchaspregnancydiagnosis,infertility,de-worming

    andothercasesreferredbytheGopalstotheMVUsareexaminedandtreatedbyexperiencedveterinarians.

    C)DairyCallCentre

    JKTrusthasstartedaCallCentretocatertotheneedsofdairyfarmersofHaryana.FarmerscanrequestforAI

    servicesattheirdoorstepsbyregisteringtheirrequirementattheTollFreenumber1800-1800-088.The

    GopalwhoisnearesttothefarmerwillgetintimationfromtheCallCentre,sothathecanattendthecase.The

    farmerwouldalsogetthedetailsoftheGopalwhowouldbeattendinghiscase.Thisisauniqueinitiative

    intendedtobenefitthedairyfarmersofHaryana.

    Thesignificanceofnutritiousfodderliesinthefactthatitcanenhancethemilkproductioncapabilityofthe

    farmers'livestock,therebyenablinganenhancementinhisincomelevels.Thefodderneedofanenhanced

    animalalsogoesup.Andhence,goodqualityfodderneedstobesupplemented.JKTrustthroughthemedium

    ofFodderMultiplicationCentresandFodderSeedsDevelopmentCentresequipsandsupportsthefarmers

    withtheknow-howofscientificallyprovenmethodstoincreaseyieldandalsobeself-relianttoaddressthe

    needoflivestockfornutritiousfodder.

    A)FodderMultiplicationCentres(FMCs)

    Fodder Multiplication Centres (FMCs) are

    established in areas of operation of ILDCs. Each

    FMC covers an operational area of five ILDCs.

    Fodder Development Officers posted at these

    Centres create awareness among the farmers

    regarding the requirement of nutritional fodder

    cropsandtheircultivationmethods.Theysupply

    fodder seeds/plantation materials, conduct

    practicaldemonstrationsatfieldlevelandprovide

    training to the farmers throughout the year,

    thereby helping the farmers to meet the

    nutritionalrequirementoftheiranimals.

    B) Fodder Seeds Development Centres

    (FSDCs)

    FSDCstakeuptheactivitiesnecessarytomeetthe

    demand o f f a rmers fo r qua l i t y fodder

    seeds/saplings to cultivate fodder crops. Oats,

    Berseem,Maize,HybridNapieretc.arecultivated

    and the seeds are distributed to farmers to

    cultivatetheirownfodder.

    training for the successful implementation of

    projectsatthegrassrootslevel.Weareimparting

    training to selected, educated rural youth in the

    areas of cattle breeding, animal health, fodder

    cultivationetc.throughtheoryaswellaspractical

    sessions at Dr. Vijaypat Singhania Training

    Institute for Rural Development situated at

    Gopalnagar,Chhattisgarh.

    Thetrainedyouth,the‘Gopal’,inturnconductsa

    numberofextensionmeetingsatfieldleveltocreateawarenessaboutgoodpracticesandlatestscientific

    knowledgetoenhancetheproductivityofanimals.

    Variousfodderenrichmenttechniquesareusedtoimprovethenutritionalvalueoffodder.

    UreaStrawTreatment(UST)isatechniqueforenhancingthenutritionalvalueofdryforage.TheGopal

    providestheUSTkitandconductsthedemonstrationatthedoorstepofthefarmer.Treatedstrawhelpsin

    increasingthemilkyieldofcows.

    Silagepreparationisusedtoovercomethescarcityoffodderinleanseasonbytreatingandstoringtheexcess

    greenfodderinflushseason.Itisameansofpreservationofchaffedgreenfodderinananaerobiccondition

    throughtheadoptionofafermentationmethod.Intheanaerobiccondition,sugarcontainedingreenfodder

    isconvertedintolacticacidbymicro-organismsandthishelpsinpreservingthegreenfodderforalonger

    duration.

    Azollaisanaquaticfloatingfernwhichisgainingincreasingpopularityasalivestockfodderowingtoitshigh

    nutritionalvalue.Azollacanbecultivated insmallmakeshift tanks inthebackyardof farmersatavery

    nominalinvestment.Itmultipliesfastandcanreplacepartofgreenfodderinthedietofanimals.

    TheunemployedwomeninruralareasareidentifiedandgivenanopportunitytoassociatewithJKTrustas

    “LadyGopals”,withtheresponsibilityofrunninganILDC.Thesewomenarethenprovidedtraininginanimal

    breedingandotherveterinary servicesandhavenowbecomea symbolof empowerment in thismale-

    dominatedsector.

    Thus,aLadyGopal'sactivitiesunderourVanBhaginiProjectinGujaratnotonlyhelpsthelocalfarmersto

    increasetheirearnings,butalsomakeshermoreconfidentaboutherabilitiestomanage,leadandbean

    independent,self-earningwoman.

    Equippedwithnewskillsandfinancialstability,nowtheruralwomanisreadytogooutintheworldwithher

    headheldhigh!

  • Intheyear1997,JKTrustGramVikasYojanawaslaunchedtochannelisethethreedecadesworthoftechnical

    expertisegainedbythescientistsofRaymondSheepBreedingFarmtowardsruralIndiaforthebenefitof

    thousands of farmers.Artificial insemination in cattle andbuffaloeswas adopted as a tool of scientific

    breedingtoimprovethemilkproductionofthecattleofthecountry.

    WestartedourfirstILDCinthestateofChhattisgarhin1997andafterworkinginthestateforaperiodof

    threeyears,weextendedouroperationstothestateofMadhyaPradeshintheyear2000.Graduallyweststartedgettingprojectsfromdifferentstategovernmentsunderdifferentschemesandason31 December

    2015,weoperateatotalof3777ILDCsspreadacross10statesofIndia. Inthecurrentyear,westarted

    implementingCSRprojectsofleadingcorporatecompaniesaswell.Thedetailsofstatewiseoperationsand

    theCSRprojectsundertakenaregiveninthesubsequentpages.

    Introduction

    JK Trust started Cattle Breed Improvement

    Program(CBIP)inChhattisgarhintheyear1997in

    11 districts under SGSY (Swarnajayanti Gram

    Swarozgar Yojana) scheme (1997-2002). From

    1997 onwards, for the past 18 years, various

    funding agencies have put their faith in us for

    implementinganimalhusbandry-relatedprojects.

    We have successfully implemented the projects

    sponsored by the Department of Animal

    Husbandry, Govt . of Chhatt isgarh, BRGF

    (BackwardRegionsGrantFund),RSVY(Rashtriya

    SamVikasYojana),TribalWelfareDepartmentand

    Special SGSY. We had also implemented

    ChhattisgarhDistrictPovertyReductionProject(CGDPRP)fundedbyWorldBankthroughDepartmentof

    RuralDevelopment,Govt.ofChhattisgarhfrom2004-2009.

    TheTribalInnovativeProjectof100ILDCshasbeensuccessfullycompletedinthestateintheyear2015.

    ThoughtheSpecialSGSYprojectof145centreswascompletedintheyear2014itself,calfreportingfromthis

    project was still continuing in the year 2015. At present, in Chhattisgarh State, we are operating 145

    IntegratedLivestockDevelopmentCentres(ILDCs),29FodderMultiplicationCentres(FMCs)and1Fodder

    SeedDevelopmentCentre(FSDC)underRKVY(RashtriyaKrishiVikasYojana)schemewithDepartmentof

    AnimalHusbandry.Inaddition,wearealsooperating30ILDCsand3MobileVeterinaryUnits(MVUs)with

    ChhattisgarhStateCo-operativeMilkFederation.

    WealsoruntheCSRprojectofRaymondLtdinthestate,inwhichweareprovidinganimalhusbandryrelated

    servicestofarmersbyoperatingILDCsandMobileVeterinaryVans.

    Through the FMCs located at the households of the farmers, we could demonstrate the cultivation of

    Introduction

    WehavestartedworkinginthestateofGujaratin

    2007,whenwewere given the responsibility of

    setting up 100 ILD Centres each in Jamnagar,

    Surendranagar and Dahod districts by the State

    government. After successful completion of this

    project,intheyear2008,weweresanctioned150

    CentresbytheTribalDevelopmentdepartment.

    In August 2010, the JK Trust started a unique

    initiativeinGujaratunderthename,VanBhagini

    Project. As indicated by the name, the project

    envisagedtheopeningof140ILDCentresintribal

    blocksofChhotaUdepurdistrictbeingmanaged

    entirelybyLadyGopalsfromtribalfamilies.Thisis

    oneofakindinitiativeinthehistoryofJKTrustand

    has been quite successful in terms of target

    achievementaswellasmakingtheLadyGopalsself

    reliant.MostoftheseCentreshavecompletedtheir

    5-year project period in the year 2015 and are

    runningasself-sustainablecentreswithsupport

    TheCBIPwasinitiatedinHaryanastateintheyear2009.WiththefundingfromRKVY(RashtriyaKrishiVikas

    Yojana),initially,145ILDCswereestablishedinMewatandShivalikregionsofthestatebytheJKTrustin

    collaborationwiththeDept.ofAnimalHusbandryandDairying,Govt.ofHaryana.Later,thisprojectwas

    expandedtotheremainingregionscoveringentireHaryanawiththeestablishmentof1,000ILDCsinthe

    year2010.

    Thefirstprojectof140Centreshassuccessfullycompleteditsprojecttenureintheyear2015,thoughthe

    secondprojectof1,000Centres isstill inoperation. Inadditionto thesegovernmentprojects, thisyear

    onwards,weareimplementingtheCSRprojectsof2companiesnamely;JKCementLtdandAdityaBirlaGBTL

    Jan Kalyan Trust. Under these CSR projects, JK Trust is currently operating 25 Integrated Livestock

    Oneofourmajorachievements inspreadingour footprints ineastern Indiawas thesigningofanMoUth

    betweenJKTrustandJSIA(JharkhandStateImplementingAgency)on30 April,2015totakeoverand

    operate 430 AI centres hitherto operated by the JSIA. The JSIA is an agency promoted by the Animal

    Husbandry Department (AHD), Jharkhand for formulating policies, conducting trainings and creating

    variousassetsforcattleandbuffalodevelopmentinJharkhandstate.

    ThisnewinitiativebytheJharkhandGovt.hasgiventheJKTrustabigresponsibilityofproducinglarge

    numberofcrossbred/upgradedcalvesintheStateknownforasporadiccattlepopulation.Selectedcentresin

    24districtsoftheStatearecoveredunderthisprogramme.

    Asafirststeptowardsoperationalisationoftheproject,theselectionofGopalshasbeendonethroughwalk

    ininterviewsinallthedistricts.TheStateofficeanddivisionalofficelocationswerefinalisednearKhelgaon,

    GrasimBhiwani Textiles Ltd is a subsidiary of Grasim

    IndustriesLtd.havingstrongpresenceinmanufacturing

    of Polyester Viscose fabric. The company has its

    produce500calvesandcatertohundredsoffarmersinthevicinityoftheplantinBhiwani,Haryana.

    Financial Holdings, Singapore, which in turn is a

    subsidiaryofTemasekHoldingsofSingapore.Fullerton

    Financial Holdings invests in financial institutions in

    emergingmarketswithitsprimefocusonBusinessand

    Consumer banking. Since its launch in January 2007,

    FullertonIndiahassuccessfullyandstronglyestablished

    itself, spread across the country's broad financial

    landscape,withanetworkofover445branchescovering

    600towns,closeto42,000villagesandservingovera

    FullertonIndiaalongwithJKTrustlaunchedIntegrated

    Livestock Development (ILD) Centres under its

    -Loni.

    Thisinitiativewillprovideserviceslikeartificialinsemination,castration,foddermanagement,firstaidand

    otherextensionservicesforcattletodevelophighmilkyieldingprogeny.Alltheseservicesshallbeprovided

    atthedoorstepsoffarmers.

    FollowingthetremendousresponseoftheILDCsinMadhyaPradesh,FullertonIndiacommittedfor15more

    ILDCentreswithJKTrust.Accordingly,5newcentreswereestablishedatKhandwainMadhyaPradesh.

    Taking the scope of these centres to other states, Fullerton India established 5 ILDCs at Kolhapur in

    Maharashtraand5atNipani inKarnataka.Effectively, thesecentresoperatedandmanagedby JKTrust

    reachesouttoover160villagesin3statesofthecountry.Thousandsoffarmerswouldbebenefitedbythese

    highqualitydoorstepservices.

    productsandservices for trade, industryandagriculture.Thecompany's focussegmentsarecorporate

    products,constructionequipment,commercialvehiclesandtractors.Despitetheturbulenceinthefinancial

    servicesmarketsoverthepastfewyears,L&TFinancehasadaptedwelltothechangingmarketdynamicsto

    Appreciating the effectiveness of CBIP implemented by JK Trust, L&T Finance through its three sister

    agreementwithJKTrustforstarting100ILDCentresinJajpur,CuttackandBhadrakdistrictsofOdisha.The

    Centresare identifiedandGopalsaregetting trained.TheseCentreswillbeoperational in thenext few

    7)RaymondLtd.

    Raymond's association with animal husbandry dates back to three decades when Raymond Limited

    established a sheep breeding farm at Dhule in Maharashtra for research in various aspects of sheep

    managementandreproductionin1970.RaymondwasthefirstorganisationinIndiatointroduceEmbryo

    Transferinsheep(1977).

    ChairmanEmeritus,RaymondLimited,Dr.VijaypatSinghania,isactivelypromotingcattledevelopment,an

    issueclosetohisheart.HeencouragedthedevelopmentofandpropagationofEmbryoTransplantation

    Techniquesfortheupgradationandbreedingofhighmilk-yieldingcattle.

    JKTrustisthekeypartnerforimplementingCSRprojectsofRaymond'sGroupcompanies.Accordingly,JK

    Trustoperates240ILDCentresonbehalfofRaymondGroupacross3statesofthecountryalongwith5

    MobileVeterinaryUnits.240ILDCsofRaymondLtdarespreadaroundtheirunits inMaharashtra(80),

    Chhattisgarh(80)andMadhyaPradesh(80).FiveMobileVeterinaryUnitsareoperationalintheStateof

    The Trust is venturing into a number of ambitious projects, the details of which are given

    hereunder:

    1) Dr. Vijaypat Singhania Centre of Excellence for Assisted Reproductive Technologies

    inLivestock,Pune

    TheTrustisestablishingastate-of-the-artInstitutenamely'Dr.VijaypatSinghaniaCentreofExcellencefor

    AssistedReproductiveTechnologiesinLivestock'atVadgaon,Pune,Maharashtra.ThisInstitutewillcarry

    outresearchinadvancedAssistedReproductiveTechnologieslikeIn-VitroFertilisation(IVF)andEmbryo

    Transfer(ET)incattleandwillsubstantiallycontributetothegeneticimprovementofthecattleintheState

    ofMaharashtra and all over India. Themale calves born out of these embryoswill be used for semen

    productionatourupcomingSemenStationinRaipur.Thesemenproducedoutoftheseprogenywillbeused

    forgeneticimprovementofcattlethroughoutthecountry.

    ConstructionworkwasstartedinNovember2015andisgoingoninfullswingatthe42acresoflandlocated

    atVadgaon,Pune.Theconstructionofonecattle shedhousing100heifers is alreadycompleteand the

    constructionofasecondshedwithacapacitytohouseanother100moreheifersisexpectedtobecomplete

    by June 2016. In addition to the lab and cattle sheds, therewill also be facility for staff quarters and

    administrativebuilding.TheentirefacilityisexpectedtobereadybyAugust2016.

    Hundredhealthycrossbredrecipientsarealreadyhousedinthecattlesheds.Wearecurrentlyintheprocess

    ofimportingembryosofsuperiorgeneticmeritfromSemex,Canada.Withtheimportedembryos,weplanto

    starttheworkofETandIVFtrialsinthemonthofSeptember2016.

    Thelandisfullyirrigatedwithmicroirrigationsystem.Fodderproductionisbroughtunderthesupervision

    ofqualifiedstaff.Fodderlikelucerne,maizeandoatarecultivatedinthefarmtomeetthegreenfodder

    requirementofanimals.

    2)Dr.VijaypatSinghaniaCentreofExcellenceinBovineGenetics,Raipur

    TheproposedMegaSemenStation,namedas'Dr.VijaypatSinghaniaCentreofExcellenceinBovineGenetics,

    Raipur'willbecomingupin68.92acresoflandlocatedatVillageHasdaatTehsilBerla,DistrictBemetarain

    Chhattisgarh.Theproposedstate-of-the-artCentreisbeingsupportedbytheGovernmentofIndiaandGovt.

    ofChhattisgarh.ThelocationoftheCentreisjust30kmsfromRaipurwhichiswellconnectedtoallpartsof

    thecountrybyroad,railandair.

    CivilconstructionoftheproposedCentreisexpectedtostartfromApril2016andweexpecttostartsemen

    productionintheyear2018.ConsideringtherapidgrowthintheactivitiesoftheTrustintherecentpastand

    itsbusinessexpansionplans,wearehopefulthatthisInstitutewithaproposedcapacityof5millionsemen

    dosesperannum(expandableto10million)willmeetthecaptiverequirementsoftheTrust.Further,this

    couldalsocatertothedemandofqualitysemendosesindifferentstatesofthecountry,therebyhelpingin

    geneticimprovementofthecattle.

    3) Dr.VijaypatSinghaniaCentreofExcellence forAssistedReproductiveTechnologies in

    Livestock,ChhattisgarhUnit

    TheexistinglabfacilityattheRaymondEmbryoResearchCentre(RERC)inGopalnagarisgettingupgraded

    and renovated to function as 'Dr. Vijaypat Singhania Centre of Excellence for Assisted Reproductive

    Technologies in Livestock, Chhattisgarh Unit'. The unit is located at Gopalnagarwhich is 28 kms from

    BilaspurCityinChhattisgarh.ThisCentrewouldundertakeETandIVFworkincattleandbuffaloesand

    therebyhelpinthegeneticimprovementofbovinesofthecountry.

    Good quality donor animals of indigenous breeds like Gir, Sahiwal, Tharparkar and Nellore have been

    procuredandarehousedatthecattleshedoftheproposedunit.Recipientanimalsforthetrialsarealso

    housedattheunit.

    FourqualifiedveterinariansarebeingsenttotheUnitedStatesforanadvancedtraininginIVFandET.Upon

    completionofthetraining,thetrialswouldstartinChhattisgarhunitinMarch2016.

    4)MobileETVan

    Post successful demonstration of IVF and ET in cattle and buffaloes in our labs, the Trust also has an

    ambitiousplanoftakingittothedoorstepsofthefarmers.Withthisinmind,wehaveplannedtosetupahigh

    tech Mobile Embryo Transfer van with all the necessary equipment, which will cater its services to

    progressivedairyfarmers,forwhom,ETprogenycalvesofsuperiorgeneticmakeuphasbeenadreamtill

    now.ThisisafirstofitskindinitiativeinIndia,whereinEmbryoTransferinbovineswouldbemademobile.

    Atotalof592entriesfromGovernmentdepartments,GramPanchayatsandvariousNGOswerereceivedby

    theministryfortheGoodPracticesworkshop.ApanelofexpertsfromTataInstituteofSocialSciences(TISS)

    andMoRDofficialsshortlisted82bestentriesfromthatlot.AteamfromTISScarriedoutthefieldvisitsofthe

    interventions to verify the claims made in the

    application;afterduediligence,31organisationswere

    invitedtotheworkshopwhichwasheldinBhopalonrd th23 and24 September,2015.

    JKTrustwasoneamongthetop31entriesinvitedfor

    theworkshopoutofatotalof592entries,andtheonly

    organisation from the livestock sector. We were

    felicitated with a trophy and a certificate of

    appreciation. Further, we were allotted a stall to

    showcase our activities. The Ministry of Rural

    Developmenthasmade7filmsoutofthe31topentries

    and JK Trust was one out of them. This film was

    screened during the workshop in front of over 600 esteemed dignitaries of State and Central rural

    developmentdepartments.

    Visit of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon'ble Prime Minister of India to the stall

    ofJKTrustt hOn 14 February, 2015, Shri Narendra Modi ,

    Hon'blePrimeMinisterofIndiainauguratedanexhibition

    at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) which included a key

    exhibitbyJKTrustGramVikasYojana.Thefocusofthe

    exhibition was to bring out the strengths of Baramati

    district as a whole and showcase the various novel

    activities being undertaken in the district which are

    designed to impact and benefit the farmers and other

    stakeholdersfromtheregion.

    JKTrustshowcaseditsvariousinitiatives,especiallythe

    developmentof the IntegratedLivestockDevelopmentCentres (ILDCs) inBaramatiDistrictundertaken

    under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY). Dr. Shyam Zawar, CEO, JK Trust briefed the

    From13th to16thMarch, 2015, JKTrust participated in “Agri Leadership Summit - 2015” atGurgaon,

    HaryanaorganisedbytheStateGovernmentofHaryana.ThemainfocusoftheSummitwastomotivatethe

    farmersbyshowcasingtheachievementsofinnovativeandprogressivefarmersintheirrespectivefieldslike

    Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry and other allied sectors. JK Trust had also presented its

    activities inastall in theAgriExhibitionPavilion.Themajorobjectiveof thiseventwas toprovideand

    strengthenmarketaccesstothefarmersbyreducingandeliminatingtheneedofvariousintermediaries.

    Morethanonelakhfarmersand300+companiesparticipatedinthe3-daysummitheldinGurgaon.Though

    Project (CBIP) implemented by JK Trust. He was

    A calf rally was organised on the occasion, where 34

    crossbredandupgradedcalvesofdifferentbreedsborn

    out of Artificial Insemination (AI) were exhibited.

    for ensuring sustainability of the project intervention. He also directed the CDVO to take steps for

    RashtriyaKrishiMela-Chhattisgarh

    "Rashtriya Krishi Mela - Chhattisgarh 2015" was

    organisedbytheConfederationofIndianIndustry(CII)

    in association with the Department of Agriculture,

    Government of Chhattisgarh from 26th to 28th

    December,2015,atRaipur.Theaimofthemelawasto

    promote the state as a technology-friendly state in

    agriculture & allied sector. It was an ideal forum to

    facilitateknowledgeandbestpracticesharingamongthe

    f a rme r s on po s t - h a r ve s t t e c hno l o g y, f a rm

    mechanisation, latest irrigation technology and better

    useofagriculturalland.

    JKTrustGramVikasYojanawastheofficialsponsorofRashtriyaKrishiMela-Chhattisgarh2015.Ourstall

    showcasedvariousactivitieslikeCattleBreedImprovementProgram,livedemonstrationofgreenfodder

    andfodderseeds.Hundredsoffarmersandgeneralpublicwhovisitedourstallexpressedkeeninterestin

    ouractivities.Theyhaveunderstoodhowtogetbettercrossbreedcalvesandgreenfodderattheirdoorsteps

    Government of Chhattisgarh organises many programmes to interact with the farmers of the State -

    KisanMelabeingoneofthem.Duringsuchmelas,theHon'bleChiefMinisteroftheStateandotherhigher

    dignitariespersonallyinteractwiththefarmerstounderstandtheirproblemsandalsoinformthemabout

    thenewprojects/schemesdesignedandrolledoutfor

    thembythegovernment.

    OnesuchKisanMelawasorganisedinDistrictBalodon

    8th November, 2015. The programme attracted more

    than40,000farmers.JKTrusthadputupastall inthe

    mela. The Trust showcased its various interventions,

    especially ILDCs and Fodder Multiplication Centres

    (FMCs). Farmers who visited the stall were seen

    interacting with ourMonitoring Officers & Veterinary

    Officers to knowmore details of the programme and

    were convinced of the benefits of these activities.

    narrates ̶ “Earlier there was no Artificial

    Insemination (AI) service for crossbreeding of

    dairy cattle in our village. I had never seen an

    artificial insemination being done before

    establishmentof ILDCentre inourneighbouring

    villageBarhaMudawar.Earlier,ifsomeonewanted

    to avail this facility, he had to take his cow to a

    faraway government hospital. But, now-a-days,

    through the ILD Centre run by JK Trust, we are

    getting this facility at our doorstep by trained

    Gopals”.

    Mr. Pandey also adds that he gets valuable

    information on improved and scientific dairy

    husbandrypracticesthroughvarioustrainingand

    awarenesscampsorganisedbyJKTrust.Adoption

    ofthesepracticeshasreallyhelpedhimtoincrease

    theproductivityofhisdairyfarm.

    The story dates back to 2009, when JK Trust

    establishedan ILDCentre inVillageKapsa.After

    seeing the services provided by this ILDC,

    Mr.Pandey thoughtof expandinghis smalldairy

    unit by availing the services from this ILDC and

    thuscameuptheKamdhenuDairyin2011.

    Intheyear2013,JKTrustorganisedanexposure

    visittoGujaratfortheprogressivedairyfarmersof

    KapsaVillage so that they can see the improved

    dairy husbandry practices first hand and learn

    from the successful dairy farmers of Gujarat.

    Mr.Pandeywasalsoamemberofthatteamandthe

    visithelpedhimtoboosthisconfidencetostartthe

    dairybusinessinacommercialway.Hereiterates,

    “This exposure visit exposed me to various

    possibilitiesofmydream.Iimmersedmyselfinto
