FIBREFLOW COOLING TOWERS
Fibreflow Cooling Towers is wholly Australian owned and made. Fibreflow
Cooling Towers was established in response to the demand for a quality HVAC
manufacturer in Australia and develop and design composite products to related
manufacturing methods. Various production methods include cold pressing heavy section
FRP mouldings and forming hollow and complex one piece FRP sections. Our production
methods use the best isophthalic, vinyl ester resins, gelcoats and high quality reinforcements.
Our products are developed to stand the test of time with the quality, lifecycle and performance
that goes above and beyond the expectations of our customers. With a combined experience of
over 50 years in the industry, we have formed an insight as to what is required of our products,
thus meeting the market with the best solutions for the application. Typical applications include
cooling tower structures and components, support assemblies, motor mounts and bearing
housing mounts in a variety of materials to suit the clients’ requirements. Our range of FRP
Process Cooling equipment are developed and manufactured right here in Australia. With
benefits ranging from the low cost of ownership to long service life, high quality materials and
virtually no maintenance, we can provide a tailored solution for your application.

ENGINEERING DESIGN LAYOUT
When considering installation the unit must have suitable fresh air available to ensure correct operation of the system. Care must be taken to ensure moist air does reticulate back into the air inlets and due consideration must be given to ensuring discharge air does not flow into separate fresh air intake for building air-conditioning systems. Consult local regulations for details.
Air Flow
When using or combining multiple cells as a single component cooling source, equalizer lines must be installed to ensure balanced operation. Units must be mounted on the same level on secure plinths.
Multiple Cells
Valves should be installed on all pipe connections and the correct pipe sizes must be used to ensure correct operation. Pipe work and other components to the system should be installed in a manner that ensures the system water does not flow into the cooling tower causing overflow and water loss on shut down.
On start up the water level would drop considerably causing air to be introduced into the system. Preferably such pipe work and components should be located under the level of the basin operating level. Pipe work and ducting cannot be supported from the tower structure.
Pipe Work
If installing cells hard against each other then a de-rating must be applied - generally around 5%. Consult Fibreflow Cooling Towers for confirmation.
De-Rating
When installing in plant rooms and applying ductwork and restricted air supply the external static pressure will increase. Motor size will need to be increased to overcome additional load - consult factory for advice.
Placement
Refer to engineering for layout clearances. Rule of thumb, 1500mm all around minimum.

SOUND LEVELS
The noise that humans can hear covers a frequency from 20Hz to 10,000Hz. There are exceptions, however these levels have become accepted for most practical purposes. This audio band has been divided into eight bands called “octave bands”. The noise of cooling towers is controlled by many contributing factors such as layout, adjacent structures, variable speed drives, etc. Low noise options are available please consult your representative for further assistance.
Noise
The Sickle axial fan series are the answer for generating pressure with low noise axial fans. The sickle blade’s swept design and thin trailing edge reduce pure tones in the sound spectrum and decrease vortex shedding to generate low wake turbulence for a quieter axial fan. The sickle profile’s large chord length and overall surface area also combine to generate greater pressure at slower speeds. The sickle axial fans are Fibreflows natural choice for applications where low noise capabilities are a much required first priority.

LIFTING TECHNIQUES
Lifting Cooling Towers incorrectly can cause the unit to buckle. Please take the following precautions when installing your towers or alternatively, have Fibreflow take care of installation for you.
Lifting
Use soft slings only
Beware of possible crushing of the Tower Casing when Lifting
Use only Tested and Tagged Lifting Gear
Licensed Crane Operators
Always insure there is an exclusion zone whilst lifting is underway
Refer to our factory for further information.

VARIABLE SPEED DRIVES
Cooling towers are used in conjunction with water cooled chillers which are highly efficient. The tower fans cool the water with ambient temperature air. Drives replace two speed motors to regulate the condenser water temperature.
During light loads or cool days, the cooling tower has too high of a capacity. The drive regulates the fans speed to maintain the set point to optimise the energy consumption.
A temperature sensor is placed in the condenser water return line or in the cooling tower basin. A minimum speed of 15% is needed on gear driven fans to maintain proper gear lubrication.

System Advantages
Fibreflow Cooling Towers recommends the use of VSD’s
on all installations to conserve energy, and reduce wear on
mechanical components.

FREIGHT
FreightDepending on transport requirements, box sizes up to 3850 x 1450 are generally shipped assembled, unless otherwise specified. 2400 x 2400 units are shipped in two sections for final assembly on site, alternatively these are supplied in complete knock down format (CKD) All other units are shipped in CKD format to reduce transport and handling costs. Fiberflow has a fleet of trucks to deliver your Cooling Tower to any destination around Australia and can also ship to anywhere in the world.
