HOT SANDS DELIVERY CHANGES!
HADI HALF POT TICKET SALES
We all should believe in the coming months it’s vital that we have a fast & effective form of communi-cation for the ever changing events. With this in mind, we will attempt to deliver a Hot Sands every two weeks (bi Monthly) so expect double the information without the cost of printing and mailing, but this will only work if the membership provide their correct email(s) and they know to watch for latest editions on our new website, hadishrine.org. Hopefully everyone, including the divan, will submit articles, rele-vant information, jokes and even birthday wishes.

From Your PotentateIllustrious Sir
Stephen Hawes
Dear Nobles, Family, and Friends,
It has definitely been a long couple months and I am so pleased to tell you that we will be reopening the Temple as of June 1st. The new Riverwalk Restaurant is under renovation, but access to Temple offices and meeting rooms is available. Although masks are not mandatory, we do recommend that you wear one and would like for you to remem-ber, frequent handwashing and other social distancing guidelines as the Governor and the CDC recommend. If you would be more comfortable staying home a bit longer, that is total-ly understandable. Please do what you are most comfortable doing.
I am extremely disappointed to announce that we have had to cancel our Potentate’s trip to New Orleans. New Orleans has special restrictions due to the early rapid spread of Covid-19 and they are reopening at a very slow pace. At this point, they are unable to even give a possible date for phase two of their reopening plan. Therefore, their timeline will make it im-possible for us to assure our safety traveling there. Please keep an eye on the Hot Sands and listen to your UCO Representatives for upcoming events. We still have plenty of time to enjoy the year!
We have kicked off our Hadi Half Pot. It is now time to really push the sale of the raffle tickets. When you see the poster on social media, please share it to each of your friends and family. Tickets for sale will be passed out by your Divan Representative at your next UCO meeting. If you would like to jump right in and have them sooner, please call the Temple office. They can be picked up there too. We already have a guaranteed jackpot win of $12,750. The more you sell, the more profitable it will be for the Temple. It will take all of us continuing to work together to make this a huge success. Thank you in advance for all your hard work! We are also in the middle of our Circus Ad Campaign. It is important that we are working hard to sell as many ads as possible. As you begin to get out to your favorite places, use this as an opportunity to sell an ad. You can even buy one for yourself as a shoutout to a loved one or in support of the Temple. If you need a sales contract and pricing guide, you will find everything you need here in the Hot Sands. You can make as many copies of the contract as you need! Please do your best to collect payment at the time of sale and send it or bring it to the Temple office as soon as possible. Yours in Faith,Ilustrious Sir, Stephen L. Hawes

It is change, continuing change, inevitable change, that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made any longer without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be.Isaac Asimov

AUTOMATIC DOORINSTALLED AT HADI TEMPLE
One of our favorite Hadi Shriners, Robin Schimmel, demonstrates the functionality of the new automated door opener. The au-tomatic door system was recently installed to make Hadi Temple more accessible to our handicapable nobles and patrons. Donations for the system are still being ac-cepted at the Hadi office and are much appre-ciated!

Poppy, 11, from Lincoln, Nebraska, was born missing the lower portion of her left arm. Three ultra-sounds during her mother’s pregnancy revealed no complications, so when Poppy was born without part of her left arm, her surprised parents quickly had to decide how to tell friends and family. They knew that the way they acted would affect everyone else. If they appeared nervous and uncer-tain, others would be as well. So they interjected some lightheartedness into the situation. “When we called everyone,” Poppy’s mother, Amy, said, “we shared, ‘well, not only does she not have a left arm, but her name is Poppy.’ “I think it was a bigger shock that we named her Poppy.” It might have shocked her family, even more, to know that Poppy would go on to one day play softball.
A new world of opportunities
Poppy has a prosthetic arm from Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities that she uses for a wide variety of activities. Poppy’s hobbies range from football, softball and soccer to dance, playing the guitar, acting and creating art. She also loves math, “which some people think is weird,” she said. Poppy does not wear a prosthetic arm on a day-to-day basis, but when she does use her prosthetic, she adds special attachments to it for specific activities. She has a flat disk for push-ups or cartwheels, and a small pointer for playing the guitar. In her 11 years of life, Poppy has been given some amazing opportunities. Poppy and her mom credit the child life team at Shriners Healthcare for Children — Twin Cities for opening up these opportunities, because the staff first told Poppy and her family about the USA Patriots Kids Camp for kids with limb deficiencies. The camp is organized by the USA Patriots, an amputee softball team put together by Wounded War-riors and made up of veterans who have lost limbs, either in the line of duty or in civilian life. The annu-al camp provides kids with limb deficiencies a chance to play softball with adults “who actually get you,” according to Poppy. Amy feels the experience and relationships that the kids, the team and the parents all get out of camp are invaluable because they all have a common bond.
