These include short school assemblies involving students and staff only, choir and performing arts rehearsals (students and staff only), visiting education programs may re- commence (for example, the Life Education Van visit), day excursions where adult physical distancing can be maintained, attendance face-to- face in TAFE classes, and school photos (which we expect to be held in Term 3 for our school). Interschool sport, interschool events, competitions (choirs, sport, debating, public speaking, performing arts), SRE lessons, community use of school facilities which bring the broader community onto the site, are still not permitted. The Department advises P&C meetings continue via online means at this time. From Term 3, it is possible the following may recommence: school camps, remaining types of excursions (beyond those mentioned above), parent attendance at assemblies and other school events, parent volunteers coming onto the site and interstate excursions. School community events involving large groups are not permitted. Regarding the Italian exchange 2019-20 group, the school will write to parents shortly outlining considerations and intends to hold a meeting of the parents and students in early Term 3 to discuss options. Regarding the Italian exchange 2020-21 group, a hosting experience will not proceed in September this year. We are looking to these students hosting in September 2021. A meeting for these parents and students will also be held once advice from our Italian friends at Scalcerle has been received. Year 11 and 12 reports have already been issued. The modified reports for K-10 students will be issued toward the end of this Term. Thank you for your continued understanding and support during this time. It is helping to keep all of us safe and healthy.

Changes to (COVID) Routines The Department of Education have advised of a number of changes to school routines and affirmed others.

Decisions regarding health and safety arrangements continue to be shaped by the AHPPC and NSW Health guidelines

The physical distancing and hygiene arrangements we have in place are required to be maintained. Unfortunately we are still not in a position to permit parents to come onto the site unless through pre-arranged appointments (canteen and uniform shop is considered ‘pre-arranged’ but please keep at minimal levels).

Students should continue to bring water bottles from home. We have a very limited supply of water bottles at the Office that can be purchased for $2 in an emergency.

All students are expected to attend school unless they have a medical certificate specifying a health condition they have at present, or they are unwell. Please note that the illness of a person in the home is no longer a reason to justify an absence.

Some external providers are now permitted to come onto the school site to provide support to students.

Enhanced cleaning routines will remain in place until the end of Term 3.

Permission has been granted for the resumption of some school activities which have been previously not permitted. These include short school assemblies involving students and staff only, choir and performing arts rehearsals (students and staff only), visiting education programs may re-commence (for example, the Life Education Van visit), day excursions where adult physical distancing can be maintained, attendance face-to-face in TAFE classes, and school photos (which we expect to be held in Term 3 for our school).

Kindy and Year 7 Enrolments 2021 Due to COVID-19 we have been unable to hold

our regular parent information nights for those

looking at enrolling their children in Kindergarten

and Year 7 for 2021. We need you to complete an

enrolment form so that you can be added to our

list of prospective enrolments for next year. We

hope that as restrictions continue to ease, that we

will be able to run some of our transition events

later this year.

Australian Maths Competition Any students in Years 3-12 that have a flair for

mathematics are invited to participate in the

Australian Maths Competition. Entry is $2 per

student and can be paid at the Office or online via

the school website.

2/3O Lines of Symmetry 2/3O have been learning about lines of symmetry

this week with Ms O’Connor.

Student Talent to Create Lasting Symbol Ella Gillespie created an amazing piece of Aboriginal artwork “Travelling

Whales” when she was in Year 8. It was chosen by AIME for their annual

“hoodie” in 2018 and sold out rapidly. It continues to be a sought after top for

indigenous people and those supporting indigenous education. It was also

used as the cover for their annual report. The school has approached Ella to

use the artwork in signage around the school. Ella, we are so proud of you

and your work. We hope you will take joy in knowing your work will stay as a

lasting image at our school and influence young people for years to come.

LEGO Masters Challenge Our students from Years 4-6 joined in the StemaSesh Zoom session with

Brickman from Lego Masters last week. They were given the challenge to plan

and build the tallest tower with Lego in 20 minutes. The winning tower was

158cm tall! It was so much fun!

Uniform Store

Every Friday 8:30am-9:30am, in the Performance Hall. Payments can be made by cash or Eftpos. Please be respectful of social distancing measures when visiting the Uniform Store at this time.

Year 10 Subject Selection into Years 11/12 – HSC and ATAR (part 2) Understanding the rules and regulations of gaining

a Higher School Certificate (HSC) and/or

Australian Tertiary Academic Rank (ATAR) can be

quite confusing. There are a number of links on

our webpage that gives information. Some of these

were highlighted in last week’s Careers Corner.

More specific information, primarily regarding subject selection for those

students who intend to pursue university study after school, can be found

from the drop down menu HSC/RoSA and selecting “UAC Info for Year 10”or

by clicking here. On the right hand side of this page is another link “choosing

HSC Courses” which may also be useful.

What memories are your family making this weekend? Try something new like: Build and fly a kite Catch and release some bugs or

tadpoles Handball competitions Take a family walk somewhere new The recommendations are that children should spend at least 60 minutes undertaking huff and puff physical activity and spend no more than 2 hours per day watching screens.
