42. Does the department obtain feedback from
a. Faculty on curriculum as well as teaching-learning-evaluation? If yes, how
does the department utilize the feedback?
Yes, feedback is collected through departmental meetings .
The views on the curriculum, teaching schedules, teaching tools, and
student assessment outcomes are discussed for taking improvement
measures. Internal assessment among the staff members is discussed and
ways to improve quality of teaching learning and evaluation methods are
adopted.
b. Students on staff, curriculum and teaching-learning-evaluation and how
does the department utilize the feedback?
Yes, student feedbacks are collected for feedback on department as a
whole and staff as individuals. The finer points of the feedback are
summarized and suitable improvement measures adopted accordingly.
c. Alumni and employers on the programmes offered and how does the
department utilize the feedback?
Yes, feedback from the alumni is received through emails, letters and
word of mouth during their periodical visit to the institution.
Institute has a regular feedback mechanism of its teachers from its existing batch of
students. The Staff Councils of the departments peruse through the feedback, and
assess their merit for brainstorming over improvements in the overall teaching-
learning segment. Alumni feedback is still in its informal stage with some
departments on the campus having their formed Alumni body and feedback
mechanism. Suggestions, deficiencies at the institutional level are addressed by
timely initiatives for strengthening the teaching learning process.
Departmental scrutiny is carried out by the Teacher appraisal committee. It calls for
intervention in case of teachers rated poorly by students. These teachers have to
undergo a quality enhancement and capacity building workshop to improve their
teaching skills. When representation from a particular student is received as a
grievance, the matter is placed before the Vice-Chancellor and necessary help is
provided to the student.
