FINAL PRODUCT (DIGIPAK)

research AND PLANNING

We again used a cannon DSLR to shoot the band. This was so that the quality of the shots were of a high standard in order to attract our target audience.

We used four Thomas Cyc lights attached to the ceiling of the studio for the lighting. This meant that the lighting was quite natural but made the band members stand out against the black background creating a contrast. For my research we found that due to the band being Indie Rock according to Negus theory they would be less likely to show their faces, therefore we positioned the characters in such a way that half their faces would be lit up whilst the other half was in the dark. I think this majorly appealed to our target audience as they would be attracted to the mystery of the band. For example, when I was researching I found this photo of the arctic monkeys. It is hard to see their faces due to the darkness of the art and its mysterious as we cant obviously make out the people in the band. We used this photo as part of our idea for the digipak

PRODUCTION

PRODUCTIONThe cannon camera was able to capture the quality that another camera wouldnt. This was especially important in the close ups. Detail and focus was needed so that the band stood out from the otherwise dark background

This edited photo is from our third draft of our digipak. The close ups are from using the Cannon camera. As can be seen the quality of the images are very high which is what was needed in order to pull this off.

Post productionWe used Photoshop to cut up the images we had taken of the band and rearrange the face using all four of their images. This is to create mystery behind the band, you know how many there are but you dont know what they fully look like which works with Negus theory as well as when I did my research into similar products, bands like The Arctic monkeys had now sign of their faces on their website or most recent album.

Post productionWe also using Google found the legal stamps that are to go on our album cover this then makes the cover look professional and therefore appeals to our older target audience as they appreciate high quality as stated previously when I wrote about the way in which we shot the music video
