By doing this course from the start of the preliminary to the end of the main task, I feel I have come a long way. I had never used any of the technology involved in the course before so that is why I think my skills during the preliminary were very basic and weak. Whereas I feel that my production skills during the main task were definitely developed to a much higher standard. I thought that the programme that I did not succeed in the most at first is Quark. Yet after extensive practice I was able to hone my skills and therefore make sure my production work was to a high standard.

The equipment I feel I improved the most on was the camera, seeing the difference between my college magazine photos and my music magazine photos proves that my skills with the camera had improved vast amounts and therefore. I learnt how to do different kinds of shots, I have learnt that different angles will cater to different audiences and therefore I have to be specific about the angles I want to make a statement to my audience with. I realised that the difference in poses can make an important statement to the reader. In my college magazine my cover star was smiling and therefore did not look as professional as I had hoped, so I implemented the changes in my photos to have my next cover stars looking professional and serious.

I also feel that implementing a house style is important in production too, in my college magazine I had followed a colour scheme of red and white, I feel this didn’t work well with the photos as they are colours more associated with music magazines, so therefore I implemented this house style into my music magazine and also incorporated the colour black to have a contrast between the black and the white and therefore make it more suited to my target audience.
