Evaluation - Question 6

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product? During the pre-production stage of our film we focused on researching into our chosen genre, ours being horror. We used computers both in and outside college in order to find out typical characters found within horror and presented it within a PowerPoint presentation. We also used information on the internet and hand-outs given in class in order to find out different shots and angles and see what they represent. For example, a high angle shot represents vulnerability of the character. Furthermore, we had to partake in a plenary exercise consisting of the 180 degree rule, shot-reverse-shot and also match on action. Making sure we knew what all three meant before implementing them into our own finished film. We also used a programme called celtx in order to write scripts, which was a relatively new programme to us and therefore I struggled to use it. We then used a Panasonic HC-V270 video recorder in the production stage in order to shoot our actual film, which enabled us to capture the right shots needed for the production due to it being light weight which helped a lot with the handheld shots. This camera was a success as it has a good depth of field and captures colours vibrantly. However, we had to change the camera settings to record at 25 fps with a shutter speed of 1/50 th of a second in order to capture a more cinematic look as, after doing research on the subject, this is what settings they use. During the pre-production stage we used premier pro editing software in order to edit our clips together. This was fairly easy for us as we had previous knowledge of the software as we used it for our preliminary exercise at the start of the year. We

However, we had to change the camera settings to record at 25 fps with a shutter speed of 1/50th of a second in order to capture a more cinematic look as, after doing research on the subject, this is what settings they use.

During the pre-production stage we used premier pro editing software in order to edit our clips together. This was fairly easy for us as we had previous knowledge of the software as we used it for our preliminary exercise at the start of the year. We also used YouTube to upload our different edits and blogger and slideshare to post our psychosis work on.
